  1. Those regimes were trying to normalize themselves on the world stage and had every reason to behave. Dotard on the other hand is trying to establish his authoritarian credentials. I have no doubt whatsoever that in the months leading to the WC he'll be issuing threats including the Mexico and Central and South American countries that they won't be allowed in unless they pay for a wall and accept planes full of prisoners and detainees. He'll continue crowing about tarriffs too for world leaders he doesn't like. He'll of course never follow through and will lie about how he got them all to agree to his terms. It's his pattern. And its inevitable.
  2. I’ve long found forced displays of patriotism annoying. The words “pledge of allegiance” is creepy, very Big Brotherish. It’s by pure chance that I happened to be born within the US borders. It’s not an accomplishment or reason to have personal pride. I’d like to not be so embarrassed by this country and its voters but again it’s largely out of my control. I do take some pride on a local level because it’s more of a choice where I chose to live and I have tangibly contributed to some of the good things happening in my city. It’s still somewhat arbitrary and it’s not a big deal to me but city pride makes far more sense to me than country.
  3. And because caring about things like trees and animals and nature I generally is like totally gay.
  4. The fact that the military hasn’t turned on this piece of shit is maybe the most concerning thing. He shirsnon them makes it about himself and they still follow. Un fucking believable.
  5. How much can it cost to run a college bowling program?
  6. Not just in private he started a whole fucking thread on Board Discussion crying like a little bitch that people didn’t like him and that it would kill this site, lol. And something about having a bunch of rich friends who would make imma rich but are refusing to do so because too much libs.
  7. Okay cool. Let’s have a non echo chamber discussion. Let’s start with two recent issues. (A) It’s bad foreign relations for Trump to falsely accuse the South African president of white genocide by confronting him with photographs that aren’t of South Africa or white genocide. (B) Noem was wrong when she said that habeus corpus means the president can deport anyone for any reason. Response?
  8. Well we had a four run lead on KU in the seventh and blew it. Should still be a 3 seed in the tourney.
  9. Prime example. How do you have a legitimate good faith non "echo chamber" discussion about whether this is a legitimate way for the president of the United State to conduct foreign relations?
  10. Gotta pay extra for the smell from under that fat suit.
  11. I'm curious what a "good faith" position could possibly be in support of what's happening right now. What's a legitimate good faith reponse to "Donald Trump says Harvard can no longer enroll International students and will deport all current International students." Or "Trump lies to South African President's face about white genocide with false photographs." What about the merits of whether habeus corpus means the president can deport anyone for any reason? Even with immigration policy where there can be legitimate debate on how to manage the influx of persons from Mexico and Central America, how can a discussion be held when their opening position is a blatant lie about Biden having an "open border" and that immigrants are all rapists and murderers? There aren't any more William F. Buckleys left just Ted Cruz and MTG saying nonsense and lies. About the best I can come up with is Rand Paul who has at least seemed to stay consistent on opposing spending and deficits even if it means criticizing the current administration. If Surly and Texags were one website do you think the conversations would be legitimate debates? I just don't see it. I'm with you in being sad about it but I don't see Surly being an "echo chamber" when the majority here is just speaking truth (or at least political truths within reason) while everything else is just blatant lies and hatred for libs and "others."
  12. But let’s keep interjecting about how close to Hitler the regime is and get all butthurt of someone plausibly overstates the comparison. It’s far more important than this type of of going full fascist politicization of the legal system. Fuck this shithole country.
  13. But 1-4 is gonna get an upset every now and then which is fun, or as some would likely interpret, expose a top seed.
  14. He was audibly boo’d at Boone Pickens Stadium several years ago. I was pleasantly surprised.
  15. It’s two different things. Straight seeding this year with 12 team playoff and 4 byes. In 2026 it’s 16 with no byes and I assume straight seeding.
  16. And look at this asshole. It’s just stunning how republicans always misstate how the fucking law works. They’re not this stupid, they’re intentionally lying to give their cult the next talking point. It’s over dude, the Oklahoma Supreme Court’s decision stands. You can’t refile, it’ll be dismissed on claim preclusion. Barrett would have the same reason to recuse anyway. The issue will come back up but it ain’t coming from Oklahoma. Just make it fucking stop already!
  17. Goddamnit even when he’s right on the issue he still has to be a trumpy asshole. There’s literally no need to shit on Islam to make the point. Nevertheless he’s still the best of the shit possibilities of our next fucking governor. Several registered democrats are considering registering as republicans for the gubernatorial cycle so we can get him the nomination over the other cuntstains in the race particularly if Walter’s officially enters. The republican primary is the whole election unfortunately and the lesser of several evils is still better than the alternative. Still makes my skin crawl even considering this tactic.
  18. I mean he started his post about world leaders berating other world leaders which was the premise of the original comparison. Either way, it's sadly hilarious that we're at the point of "well at least he didn't kill 6 million Jews."
  19. Pretty sure it would be that "freedom of religion" under the U.S. Constitution means a state cannot preclude public expenditures on religious causes within their own constitutions or otherwise. Of course we know it wouldn't apply if it was a Muslim charter school, they'd find a reason, probably majority rule or some nonsense. No doubt another state will try again, especially to get Barrett in on the decision. Can only hope she has some modicum of sense.
  20. Yes, we all know what you think, lol. Keep clownin' or cry to imma again.
  21. A bunch of these people wore "WWJD" bracelets in the 90's too. SMDH.
  22. Thank god, no publicly funded religious charter schools in Oklahoma. No opinion as it was an equally divided court. Barrett recused, she's hardcore catholic but has shown some reasonableness on big issues. No telling which way she might have swayed the decision. I doubt it's the last we hear of this though. The Oklahoma Supreme Court's decision, to my memory, turned on the Oklahoma constitution that is far more clear than the US Constitition on this issue. It flat out says: "No public money or property shall ever be appropriated, applied, donated, or used, directly or indirectly, for the use, benefit, or support of any sect, church, denomination, or system of religion, or for the use, benefit, or support of any priest, preacher, minister, or other religious teacher or dignitary, or sectarian institution as such." I'm sure another state without this language will try again soon.
