  1. TBH, some of the scam / phishing emails are getting better over time. Some are using official logos for PayPal, Amazon, etc. It's getting tougher to distinguish real from fake. I say this because I fell for it just last week -- got a spam email from someone pretending to be my credit card company, saying that there was unusual activity on my card. All of the logs looked legit, no typos, etc. Clicked on the link (an exact replica of the credit card company's logo), entered my login info, saw no weird activity, and then realized my mistake. I immediately logged out, shut down everything, logged on from another device, changed my login info and initiated two-step verification (shoulda done that from the beginning), and then called to ensure all was good. So I think I'm okay on this one, and it's a good reminder never to click on anything coming from email. But damn if this isn't going to be more and more pervasive and successful in the future with nefarious AI making scams more and more difficult to locate.
  2. A true holy shit moment yesterday on the North Shore of Oahu. Pipeline was firing and big wave surfers were attacking it as usual. A prominent local kid and son of a Pipe legend had a terrible accident and lifeguards were on it immediately. They started CPR in the water and continued to the beach. He was transferred to a hospital and is now in the ICU. Not out of the woods yet but at least has a chance at life. Some reports say the kid was dead before being resuscitated and brought back to life. For real -- those North Shore lifeguards are true heroes, really rare breeds who are willing to risk their lives at any moment. Anyone that's heard of Eddie Aikau ("Eddie would go") understands just how serious and well-trained those lifeguards are. My wife was in the parking lot while all of this went down. Kid is a well-known, likable high schooler that the North Shore community loves.
  3. If she was getting in her car, then she is more stupid than I thought -- not checking traffic around her, much less parking her car so it sticks out into a lane of moving traffic.
  4. Many years ago I was flying back and forth from Honolulu to Austin as my dad was terminally ill with about a year to live. (Wait, wait, it gets even funnier.) So I would basically leave Honolulu on Thursday night and fly back Saturday or Sunday, just to try and sort out as many things as I could in person. As you can imagine, it was totally exhausting physically and emotionally. So I get to the Austin airport for my return flight one weekend, and I'm checking into the flight at the kiosk, and it's not working. I go to the counter and I really had no patience or threshold anymore, given everything that was going on with my dad and my sleep, so I kind of unloaded on the agent. "Your machine is broken and I just need to check into the flight and get the hell home, and it would be a lot easier if you guys knew how to run an airline, but of course your machine won't let me check in" or something super rude along those lines. He asked for my info, punched it into the computer, and politely replied, "The reason you can't check into your flight is because it left yesterday." Total humiliation. I immediately snapped back to reality, apologized profusely, explained the situation, and the agent was super nice and got me on that day's flight after all. I learned two things through that experience -- never assume you know why someone is being a total asshole, and even though it's completely exhausting, do whatever you can to spend time with your friends and family. But the embarrassment of that situation still haunts me -- I really made an ass of myself.
  5. Badass. You should maybe pin this at the top of the recruiting board?
  6. "But enough about me. What do other people think about me?" Was reading about the making of Marilyn Manson's "Antichrist Superstar." Corgan came in during recording and gave pointers and recommendations about how they should sound, record, mix, etc. Was really proud of his input and the eventual massive success of the album. When asked about Corgan's influence on the album, the band members basically said, "We ignored all of his bullshit."
  7. Was thinking this scenario was going in a different direction
  8. I mean, I slept with a few hundred million men just last night and you don't see me holding up a goddamn sign
  9. I think LoG still brings it.
  10. That photo is the definition of rock and roll.
  11. That khyd is going to wind up getting addicted to khrak cokhane, become a street walkhyr, and be inkharceratyd for multiple feloneighs, guaranteed
  12. Yeah, I'm not pinning this one on the Highway Department, dog.
  13. This guy looks like he really likes Dabo's NIL policy.
  14. Tangent but on the SNL 50th anniversary show last night, Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter opened up by singing Homeward Bound. Simon introduced it by saying he played it on SNL in 1976. Carpenter said "I wasn't alive then. Neither were my parents." Jesus.
  15. Damn, I was intrigued by Hall. I don't know shit about fuck, but he seemed like he would've been a good fit and had some good insider relationships already formed for short and long term recruiting.
  16. Well, shit, me too.
  17. Would've been a cooler video if the skier in the back had been yelling "I want my two dollars euros!"
  18. I like how in the second clip you can see the dude who looks to have been filming the first clip hauling ass to avoid becoming a fiery pancake.
  19. I just watched Police Story again a couple of days ago. That spinal injury was no joke. The graphic forgot to include that he melted the skin off of his palms and fingers during that same stunt. Armour of God has some terrible injury outtakes too, but damn what a great movie. Jackie is the GOAT.
