  1. Bruiser Brody always did seem certifiable, even to my pre-adolescent brain. He seemed just a bit different than all the others. Kabuki was nightmare fuel for me. MF'er spewing that green mist.
  2. Mid-90s on a flight to Charlotte there were 4 or 5 guys up front who were obviously all flying together. Upon landing, we all end up on the same shuttle bus to the rental car lot. I was starting to figure out they were rasslers (not from my era) and when we got on the shuttle, the shuttle driver goes into full Chris Farley "that was awesome" guy mode. He was non-stop the whole way to the lot.
  3. Only thing I have seen this year from Texas Cares is a kids referral program. Maybe since you never tested positive they still had you on the radar.
  4. [csb] I used to work with Kerry's ex-wife in the early 90s, she was hot [csb]
  5. My son and I went to Baton Rouge for the LSU/Auburn game a few years ago. Had a great time. An observation I remember from the trip is that the locals definitely identify first as "Cajuns" and then whatever else they happen to be, kind of how must of us are "Texans" first and then whatever else we happen to be. Alcohol poisoning would definitely be on the table for most undergrads though.
  6. My observation over the years is that it is a function of fanbase optimism / irrational exuberance.
  7. Aggie children (shhhhhh!!!) and several aggie co-workers who have given me recommendations over the years.
  8. For real though, what did you go with? Thinking about pulling the trigger on Jellyfish in Dallas soon but would love more feedback.
  9. Jub to retirement home and Junior to pre-school carpool line or something else? Are their contracts almost up? They're both approaching 60 correct?
  10. If they are hanging around campus things will be full as previously indicated, if they have transportation and are open to straying from campus these are some good options. Cilantro in Bryan is good. hole in the wall tex-mex Mr. G's Italian Pizzeria (also downtown Bryan) is good pizza / Italian (casual) 1860 Italia (south college station) is good Italian (fancy for that area) Poche's Seafood (Cajun / Creole) https://pochesseafoodshoppeandrestaurant.com/ Le Petit Cochon (French Bistro) https://lepetitcochonbcs.com/ also south of town Gate 12 Bar & Grill (next to the airport) https://gate12barandgrill.com/ good food and a somewhat unique setting. (casual) Cooper's BBQ (decent BBQ and they can handle large gameday type crowds) Napa Flats (basically an independent chilis) Hopdoddy & Piada pretty close to campus in an area called Century Square where there are several restaurants
  11. Coach headset feed synced to end of ND - Duke game Sorry, can't figure out how to embed it, but this is pretty cool About 5 mins long.
  12. For real, just get there a bit early and this will be no problem. Having said that, sitting amongst the okies for a win can be glorious. Just don't be a complete ass, only about 60% of one. Hook 'em!!
  13. Can one of you with the proper skills add Venables face to the victim on this one...
  14. Horns - 38 Dirt Burglars - 16 Texas rushing 202 Is someone can add Venables face to this and put it on the gif thread, go for it.
  15. @Gale Snoats Since you mentioned low in the endzone you should be aware that there are about 8 or 10 rows in section 15 (circled on pic below) that are OU fans which makes up for what they lose from the tunnel cutout in section 33. I was seated a row behind them about 15 years ago and had never noticed they were there before. It was fine, we won that year and they took it in stride but if you are looking at low endzone seats you should at least be aware of it. you can make out the little swath of red circled in the photo below.
  16. BV prefers In-N-Out over Whataburger BV eats mayo on his fletchers BV wishes it was going to be 105 degrees at kickoff BV wants to move the game to Jerryworld
  17. some absolute art in this thread Bomar with the $$$ for posterity
  18. I'm thinking the Churreos have potential.
  19. I was thinking the exact same thing. That day was miserable in every way.
  20. Thinking about getting a cart. Inclined toward used. Any recommendations for where to look and what to look out for? 4 seater, electric. How old is too old? Any brands or features to seek out or avoid? Seems like a lot of the used ones are priced similar to new.
  21. lest we forget the greatness of Johnny Jolly
  22. @Brew and obviously anyone else who has interest. While I don't have personal experience with any these, I do have close friends whose kids have gone through these three "honors" programs at "lesser" big state u types of schools and had great experiences. Bama Honors College: https://honors.ua.edu/ Ole Miss Honors College: https://www.honors.olemiss.edu/ My best friend's daughter is a "Haslam Leadership Scholar" at Tennessee right now ( full-ride, including living expenses and an expense-paid study abroad program) Smart girl, but honestly not the type of student that you would think would get this type of offer. My buddy honestly thought there may have been a mistake initially. They had plenty of money set aside to pay for school so once he verified her spot in this program he bought a new boat and remodeled the kitchen. ha ha https://studentsuccess.utk.edu/honors/haslam-leadership-scholars/ https://news.utk.edu/2021/06/07/2021-haslam-scholars-cohort-announced/ Anyway, the point being that some of the "non-elite" OOS schools have some niche (kind of their version of Plan II for lack of a better analogy) programs within them that can make for great alternatives if the UVA, Michigan or Berkeley option doesn't work out.
