  1. We were there in March of this year for the first time in probably 40 years. It certainly has its charms. If you go, you damn well better have a hat similar to this or buy one as soon as you get there. I swear to God 80% of the adult males I saw walking through neighborhoods, etc. were wearing one. Leather coat with fringe and bolo tie are optional. Ski Santa Fe would be great for day trips. Golf (if that is appealing) probably mid-April through October or early November. Lots of festivals, etc. but several are cowboy/southwestern adjacent. They have an Allsups if you need your burrito fix.
  2. I'll be there with 1 or 2 guests.
  3. The chink … hit, the chinker
  4. @choripan please elaborate, if you can, on why he took the same class two semesters in a row. That seems odd, especially for someone who is just going back to finish a degree (assume he is trying be as efficient as possible). Seems like a system that sets students up for failure. Maybe they don't anticipate that people will take the same class twice if passed the first time. Hope it works out for him with minimal penalty.
  5. Had my ARB hearing yesterday. After increasing 750k in last two years I decided I would put the system on trial. 😂 After looking at the comps the district was using in arriving at my value, I noticed that for some reason my house was in a "class" that was 6-8 levels above almost every house in my neighborhood. The resulting "class adjustment" applied to my house when comparing it to the comps, results in hundreds of thousands being added to arrive at my value in most cases. Showed this to the ARB, the district's appraiser, who was in the hearing, said the "classes are decided when the houses are built, and the criteria are somewhat subjective" Out of approximately 160 houses in my neighborhood (custom homes built 35 years ago), somehow mine is one of the 7 highest classed houses in the neighborhood. I like my place and it is a nice house in a nice hood, but it is not anything that stands out from the rest. Both the appraiser and the ARB members acknowledged my argument but said they don't have the ability to consider that a property might be mis-classified in the hearing. Appraiser made a note for my property to looked at for a "class assessment" in the future. I was able to get around an 8% decrease in value, but it should have been about a 16% drop in my opinion. Side note, the guy immediately before me had a ranch / home that had been hit by a tornado in April 2022 (repaired in July/August 2022) and then hit by a 2nd tornado in December 2022. Thankfully, they did give that guy a break of around 35%
  6. Congrats to @scottsins You're in for the ride of your life. We had our 3rd when I was 42 (10 years ago) and I am worn out but having a blast doing little league again. Is your wife a bit younger? Enjoy!!
  7. It will be interesting to see if you are a better gambler without the booze and nicotine buzz. Or do you just plan to avoid that whole scene? Awesome work, keep it up.
  8. Ok, I know 3 different people / families who have gone to stay at this place. They all said it was really neat. Hearing their descriptions made it sound interesting but the cost was certainly more than I would have been willing to pay for the experience. Seems like it didn't take long to work through the crowd that was willing to pay the asking price for it. Based on me randomly know 3 purchasers, some Surly poster has definitely been to this. Time to give us the inside scoop. I won't lie and say, "no judgment" but it will be administered in a loving surly manner.
  9. Either of the Hyatts attached to the airport are more convenient than anything else you will find. You will be more "captive" there than you will be at one of the places you have to shuttle to but it really depends on your schedule and preference.
  10. If I've ever seen a stronger candidate for the wreath fund, I'm not sure who it was...
  11. Dude, that is awesome. Keep up the good work.
  12. link to an article on the Mike & Molly guy referenced above. I was a bit surprised he says he's still smoking, glad you've been able to stop that also Wulaw. https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/mike-molly-star-billy-gardell-reveals-how-he-lost-over-150-pounds
  13. I think this just combines HBO with Discovery+ (HGTV, Food Network, Magnolia, Travel, History, A&E, Lifetime, etc.) I'm not sure exactly how that will impact everyone. I get HBO free through cell phone deal, but pay $6 or $8 / month for Discovery+ I doubt it will all be free but it would stink if my $$ doubles, which means that is probably what will happen. 😡
  14. I've booked on Hotels.com before as myself and prepaid but put the under 21 family member as the guest name during the reservation process. They were allowed to check in with no issues. 75% of the time it works everytime. Seriously, I've never had a problem with it.
  15. Correct that you can't just do a set % of all income. When you say your pay varies by month, it really depends on how much it varies. Do you get between 7-9% of your annual income each month or do you get 4% some months and 20% in other months, or appoximately the same thing each month and a 20% bonus once a year? Is any of your pay considered "supplemental wages" (bonus, commissions, etc.)? if so, that ought to be taxed at 22% as a minimum but you can elect higher if you want. There are ways to approximate what you want to accomplish, but the method of doing it will vary depending on which of those cases best fits your situation. The willingness of your accounting / payroll group to be flexible may also limit your ability to hit your target.
  16. Maybe TCU also has a 5 Star Culture like the Cyclones. ha ha
  17. Took my son also, I got a ticketmaster email a couple of weeks ago. Other than that, I don't think i ever saw another mention of it anywhere. I read that this was the first TX MBB game in the city of Dallas since a NCAA game in 2006. It really was a missed opportunity to "sell" the game(s) to the DFW market. For sure, there were distractions this week but it wasn't like the game was just scheduled. We definitely took the upgrayedd on our seat assignment and had fun.
  18. apparently so did the accountant
  19. My son and I will be there.
  20. Reminded me of these stickers from the 80s. I think it was a neon t-shirt company or something but the primary way I saw them was on the back window of just about every other teenager's pickup or car in my hometown.
