  1. sounds like they have had a meeting of simpleton minds. Deion Sanders was on The Ticket this morning and when asked his thoughts on this topic given his experience playing both he said that Kyler should go directly to the OU football facility this morning and burn all of his football gear. ha ha
  2. 2nd the vote for Kayne Prime. not Kanye. ha ha The 12 South area is cool to walk around with a good burger place called Burger UP and and an ice cream place called Jeni's. There is also a hole in the wall breakfast place in East Nashville called Sky Blue Cafe that is very good. I really like Nashville, it reminds me of Austin 25 - 30 years ago.
  3. His book, titled Red Notice is a very compelling read. I agree his are huge and made of brass. Seriously it it worth reading that book if you are looking for a new book.
  4. Agreed regarding Texas needing to stay focused, but let's be honest we have been underperforming, at best, for most of the last decade. With the LHN in place I'm reasonably sure our guys are used to cameras by now. I'm not trying to say it helps the football team win, other than I think it could be a positive recruiting tool, I just think that it is a good thing for the team to have exposure to.Not every school could pull something like that off, we can. We ask a lot of the players and yes they get a "free" education, but being able to broaden their horizons a little isn't a bad thing even if there is no direct link to extra wins.
  5. Harbaugh is a blowhard but I think these trips are a cool idea. Really neat opportunity for the players to see places that most would likely never go and to do it as a team at no cost to the school is a pretty sweet deal. Wouldn't mind if Herman and CDC were able to string something like this together.
  6. Most of that is going to depend on your personal tastes / budget confluence. I will say that it is typically pretty obvious the things you should have them do versus DIY (or using 3rd party) based on how they price things. For instance. If you want to add some additional patio space and the typical cost of that on the market is $5-$6 / sq ft but your builder says it's $11 then they really don't want to do it and are pricing it accordingly. Sometimes you can even get a deal. The will have excess concrete and a framing crew already there so they might do the extra patio for $3-$4 /sq ft. just because the incremental cost is so low for them. If you find things you: want can afford to pay for now ( I think they typically collect for "upgrades" up front) are priced by the builder relatively close to or even below "market" prices I would go ahead and have them do it. Otherwise either DIY or get a 3rd party to do it when your schedule/budget allow.
  7. When I was 8 or 9 my parents rented a cabin outside Santa Fe for a week. WORST. VACATION. EVER. and that comes from someone who didn't take vacations on the regular other than the odd trip to Six Flags for the weekend. We were bored stiff. I remember something about seeing a farm where Geronimo's grandson supposedly lives and my dad telling me something about bears and rolling down hill while on a hike. I was never clear if I was supposed to roll down the hill if I saw a bear or if the bear was going to roll down the hill toward me. My dad was no Grizzly Adams so I'm not sure if he knew either. That trip is where I discovered the game UNO. If it weren't for that game my sister and I may have offed ourselves that week. Now this was the early 80s so there was no TV at the cabin, not to mention smart phones, wifi, etc. and my parents weren't particularly concerned with making sure we weren't bored. Ruidoso could be a blast and if your kids like their cousins it could be fun, but I would make sure to have at least a couple of activities per day to keep their interest and hopefully avoid the "the whole weekend sucked / I was soooooo bored" message when they get back home. If the rest of your party (parents, bro & SIL) will look at that (kid activities) as a downer on "their" weekend then I'd save everyone the trouble and leave them at home.
  8. Never visited: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island , Maine Regret not hitting Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota when I was in northwestern South Dakota. I'll make an effort to get back up there, but those will likely be the last 3 in my quest for 50. Places I was pleasantly surprised by: South Dakota, Philly and Knoxville, TN Place I would not return voluntarily: IOWA,
  9. For sure there is more of an agenda than I recall in prior medical/hospital dramas. Will be interesting to see if they balance it some or I can see what TrashMaster indicated that people could lose interest. Side note, the African surgical resident (same chick from Black Panther) is not someone to cross
  10. Anybody watching this show? Hospital drama based in Atlanta. Bad guy doctors, crusader residents and fringe medical ailments to keep in interesting. Not the best ever, but worth a watch if you are into medical shows.
  11. We are SLOWLY making our way through season 1. Enjoy it, but it's down the list for things to watch when I have time.
  12. hopefully he didn't charge you to open the breaker box door, grunt and say it "looks ok to me"
  13. Two of the best longhorns ever
  14. First have your parents talk to their smartest child... I think if you have an echo inside and a dot outside you can say something to the effect of "Alexa, play music everywhere" or "Alexa, play music on porch", etc. You may have to do something in the Alexa app to enable it though. Sonos has some speakers that have Alexa built in. If you bought that instead you could dispense with the additional dot. Just a thought.
  15. Not sure that anyone else answered you. I thought this website was helpful... https://www.suppose.tv/tv You can pick the channels, number of simultaneous streams, whether you need a DVR or not and it will give you providers and prices.
  16. I thought it was stupid when the ags added capacity and it will be stupid if we do it also. We should add premium seats / suites but NOT add overall capacity. If we want to build the south stands in a permanent fashion to look more like the rest of the stadium (except west upper deck) that's great. Sure there will be more demand once we are winning more consistently but in general less people are attending games across the sports landscape and if we think we are exempt to that and add seats we should get used to something like this in all but the biggest of games in the best of years.
  17. Mack did lots of good but stayed too long and left like a greedy whiner. IMO he should have retired after the last victory over a&m at the end of 2011. At that point he had been here for 14 years. Won 1 and been to 2 Championship games in the last 7 years. " Recovered" from his first losing season (2010) and delivered a win for the ages over the ags. Had he left then he would already have a statue outside DKR. As it is, those last two years 2012-2013 are so bitter that it has obscured what should have been a great legacy.
  18. So he preferred no Lueb at all apparently
  19. Bernard wasn't the biggest supporter of the boys in blue based on a variety of personal interactions and knowledge of the interactions of others that exemplified the overzealous nature of some police officers. His posts on these topics were fairly frequent and well known to the point that people began referring to stories about police misconduct as being bernarded, etc. It occurred enough that those posts ultimately ended up in their own forum. As a side note, for some reason some people began mistakenly referring to the police as Bernards. Reading comprehension wasn't their strong suit.
  20. Q: Who invited copper wire? A: Two Dutchmen fighting over a penny. Embrace your inner cheapskate
  21. Just to be clear, are you embarrassed that you watch these videos or that you keep your pants on while watching?
  22. If Randy White makes the list, I'll nominate Roger Staubach. Willie Nelson, Matthew McConaughey, George Strait, Kris Kristofferson, Steve Martin, Nolan Ryan
  23. Count me in on the Avios welfare if you have spots remaining. PM me or whatever to let me know what I need to do. Thanks.
  24. Mandarin Oriental is very nice. It is within reasonable walk of the National Mall, Washington Monument, Smithsonian, etc.
