  1. Beaver’s Bend is beautiful. Broken Bow Lake is gorgeous. They’ve built a bunch of really really nice cabins. Hochatown has exploded with restaurants, bars, and stuff to do. The golf course at the state park is good. Idabel Country Club (like 30 minutes away) is really fun. Doesn’t feel like you’re in Oklahoma. Lots of trails for hiking. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.
  2. The new American Aquarium album is just so damn good.
  3. My wife works with the NCAA. Most major D1s won’t have many issues. The small D1s and D2 and D3 are going to be hurting big time. Reduction of contests, non revenue sports and travel across the board. They’ll get games in for 20-21 but if there somehow isn’t a NCAA basketball tournament next year for CBS to cover, college athletics is in some serious trouble.
  4. 7 months today. I’ll quit giving the monthly updates, but every time the 3rd hits and I’m still sober, it’s pretty amazing. Thanks to you all for being some inspirational.
  5. Arkansas fans seem very Aggie to me.
  6. My sincere apologies. The least I could have done was get their name correctly.
  7. Prices look very reasonable. Is it delivered frozen I guess? In the state, they have 1-2 day delivery via ground shipping. Out of state have to use air shipping. I’ve heard great things about it. Will report back.
  8. Have any of y’all tried this place? It’s in Edinburg. I just ordered 5 pounds of beef fajita meat, 4 pounds of chicken fajita, and some chorizo. I have heard great things.
  9. New York Strip > Ribeye
  10. I was in third grade. They pulled us all to the gym and rolled out one of those big box TVs and we watched coverage all afternoon. For as calculated and well thought out the bombing was, how McVeigh got caught always baffled me. No license plate? Something just doesn’t make sense there.
  11. Just traded for Bradin Cooks. Not sure what BOB gave up.
  12. Is the Oaks in good shape? Probably the most fun of all the country clubs in Tulsa. You can make birdies out there.
  13. Finally into the Hall of Fame. He had some demons, but the man could flat out coach. Apparently he’s fading fast and unable to talk, but at least he can go in peace now.
  14. 6 months today. Crazy. Thanks for being there and being great role models and examples. 6 freaking months.
  15. That Jenna, Nany, Kayleigh trio are some crazy ass bitches.
  16. This house seems pretty sweet. Some old Soviet bunker tricked out.
  17. That’s well put. I certainly agree. Thanks. I’ll add that to my mental map.
  18. So I’m a couple days away from 6 months. I’ve done a lot of introspection. Does anyone else feel they drank more around old friends because that’s what the friends expected. Almost like a performance. I was the type that tried to make sure everyone had fun so always ordered shots, cracked the jokes, etc. I’d always get hammered and basically give people stories to laugh at. I think I played up in my mind that I HAD to go above and beyond because that was my reputation. It became so exhausting. The same friends I “performed” for are the ones that set this six months of Sobriety in motion, so they weren’t egging me on or making the situation worse. Not going to the bar, the COVID hysteria, and stability has given me LOTS of time to think. It’s nice to see my wit, happiness, and since of fulfillment continue to grow. That being me is ok.
  19. So about a year ago, I posted about our Morkie/Jack Russell mix Emmy who had torn her ACL. She just turned 10 yesterday. Surgery was going to be like 1200 bucks. So the doctor said since she’s a small dog, they can often repair their own ACL over time. We gave her doggie Advil and for a couple of months she limped along. We’ve lived in our current house for 5+ years. It has wood floors, so she’s never been able to jump onto our bed. She makes a big production out of tapping her claws as loud as possible, shaking her collar as loud as possible, and the like when she wants in bed with us. Fast forward to yesterday. We can find Emmy. She’s gone. It’s 2 in the afternoon and we hadn’t seen her since we heard her eating around noon. We call out and get nothing. Doors were closed, so she couldn’t have gotten out. We are perplexed. I go in the bedroom and find her perched in between two pillows taking the nap of her life. I can only think that her regrown ACL is like that of Henry Rowengarner from Rookie of the League and is so tight she has ups like she’s never had before. Anyway here she is looking mildly annoyed I awoke her from her glorious bed nap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Underrated worst part of having to put a dog down is the effect it has on your other pups. The constant roaming the house looking for their friend, the laying the the other dogs favorite spots, the looking out the window. All of it just kills me. As if losing a family member isn’t enough.
  21. Stay strong boys and girls if COVID cancels meetings and quarantines grow larger. Historically idle time isn’t the best for my sobriety.
  22. Wife and I go out to dinner last night. I notice my car had changed the time the wrong direction for daylight savings time. I pull into the garage and she gets out. I turn off the car, shut the garage door and she goes inside. I begin to try and fix the time issue on the car. Get to the proper screen and it tells me that the car needs to be on to make the change. So i turn on the car. Make the change in approximately 30 seconds. Turn the car off and she’s at the door in mild hysteria because she thought I was going to die from carbon monoxide poisoning. In 30 seconds. I looked it up and the guess is around 4 hours to get the job done. I’ve thus far held back my smartass desire to text her “whew, was only 3 hours, 59 minutes and 30 seconds away from going down”
  23. Man. I was cruising. No cravings. No thoughts of even having a beer. Thought “this is gonna be cake”. Well fast forward to today. I volunteer some for my wife’s work. She works in college athletics and they are perpetually understaffed. So I’m an attorney and can work from wherever so I help when she has events. A lot goes into putting this stuff on. Sometimes you do stuff that’s not close to under your job description just to get it done. Well, I’m doing some menial labor helping put school flags up in the gym. The wife is dealing with a university having a hotel nightmare. So, putting up flags sucks. I ask a coworker “hey could you help with the flags, it’d help me and Mrs ocugolf a lot”. He wasn’t doing shit. Responded with “I’m sure it would” and went and fucked around on the internet. Made me irrationally mad and my mind went straight to wanting to pound an old fashioned or eight. I calmed down, I’m fine. But it was a nice reminder that there are gonna be up and downs and it’s ok to struggle.
  24. 5 months today.
  25. Has anyone done Streamsong or Traverse City, Michigan? We are planning next year. Streamsong seems sweet because everything is there at the resort, so no driving. I’ve heard awesome things about Traverse City. Arcadia Bluffs, Forest Dunes, The Loop, etc. and we have an outside shot at getting on Crystal Downs. Michigan in the summer sounds really nice.
