  1. Pounding the rock created an article titled "As far as backup plans go, Trey Lyles is not a terrible one for the Spurs". Good fucking grief. A malcontent that two respectable, competitive teams gave up on is indeed a terrible backup plan, regardless of the minuscule amount of cash involved. The Spurs could've had Boogie or even Marcus Morris, they did push for a reunion with Green, but were rejected in favor of the Clippers for less $$$ even. Now the Spurs are stuck with Lyles who quickly fell out of favor for a poor work ethic and bad attitude......sounds like just the type of player Pop wants on his team.......
  2. D'Antoni has never coached a team to the NBA finals and has coached some downright atrocious teams in LA/NY, calling him the best coach Russ has ever played for isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
  3. You can't blame the Spurs for what transpired with Marcus Morris. The Spurs reached an agreement, a shady agency continued negotiating once a deal was struck and landed a more lucrative offer from a toilet bowl of a team backing out from an offer that was already agreed upon. Bertans was gone after this season, he had a player option for the final year of his contract and would've exercised his option for a bigger payday on the open market the Spurs never could've matched just like what transpired with Kyle Anderson. Bertans was a tremendous 3 point shooter, but he's a one trick pony and was absolutely bullied at the 4 on defense.
  4. I'm just curious to see how Harden/Russ on the same team will play out over the course of the season and apparently the beef between Harden/CP3 was true because he gone. You have an offense designed around iso ball with Harden and now you throw a ball hogging, volume shooting stat padder into the mix who wants the ball in his hands all the time. what could possibly go wrong?
  5. Running Back for the time being.
  6. P5 teams should not be scheduling FCS teams, ever under any circumstance. It's almost criminal that the SEC hosts their annual cupcake weekend deep in the season when the ACC, Big 10, Big 12 and PAC are all playing conference games and don't have the luxury of yanking their starters out before the half. Their selective scheduling with how teams from the east and west are matched up is a farce as well. It's rare that premier teams from the East and West face each other before the SEC Championship outside of the UF/LSU rivalry.
  7. It's tough being tasked to essentially play as a linebacker chasing after running backs in the SEC. All the smack they talked about LJH's 40 time and the best time slowneal ever mustered was a 4.7 as a safety? He'd be eaten alive in the Big 12 where safeties primarily drop back into coverage opposed to lining up close to the line of scrimmage.
  8. When are the Thunder trading Russ to the Knicks for 5 future 1st rounders?
  9. I'm liking the addition of Marcus Morris more and more by the day. When I think about it Bertans was likely playing his last year for the Spurs and he was a sieve on defense along with possessing no offensive ability besides 3 point shooting. With all the money being thrown around in Free Agency to mediocre players in recent years there was no way Bertans wouldn't opt out of his final year and cash in elsewhere following the 2019-2020 season. Ultimately the Spurs got a lot tougher with the addition of Morris and unloaded a 3 point specialist who wasn't strong enough to play in the paint and couldn't defend to save his life. The Spurs have a deep team and the front court has been strengthened with the additions of Morris and Carroll.
  10. Boogie was a malcontent in Sacramento and there is no denying that. I never read anything that leads me to believe he was the same way in NOLA/GS.
  11. Kawhi, Paul George and Patrick Beverly give the Clippers a stout group of defenders three players who made the all-nba defensive team multiple times. This is probably the biggest shocker of the off season not so much the Clips signing Kawhi, but adding Paul George out of the blue.
  12. Hard to believe the Thunder traded their best player they're not making the playoffs with Russ/Adams....no fucking way. $15 million a year for Danny Green? WOW! That is insanity during the regular season he was a marksman but he vanished in the post season.
  13. If this thread goes on another 400 pages will it break the interwebs?
  14. The Spurs desperately require some proven talent on the front court. Golden State could use Marco's shooting to help fill the void left from Klay's injury. I don't recall reading anything mentioning Boogie being a bad team mate or problematic in New Orleans /Golden State, perhaps he's grown up a bit and in addition to that this off season has humbled him? Just several seasons ago he was a 25/13 player, yes I know he suffered a major injury, but what do the Spurs have to lose by rolling the dice on someone as talented as Boogie? Despite the injury he was still better than anyone outside of LMA/DDR last season. Boogie can shoot and actually make threes in addition to being a menace in the paint. If he doesn't pan out the Spurs wouldn't have really lost anything. The market is nonexistent, if the Spurs can obtain him for a price tag similar to what GS paid last season why not? Boogie at the 5, LMA at the 4, Rudy at the 3, DDR at the 2 and Derrick White or DJM at the one and that is an infinitely better lineup than what the Spurs rocked last season and there would be a solid bench too.
  15. I'm always down with some Howard Jones. He's allegedly going to appear in a song or two on the new Killswitch Engage album as well.
  16. Are the aggy going to turn on Jumbo after they finish 7-5 this season or will they chalk it up as a moral victory because of their schedule? The slate for 2020 is laughable for the aggy. They have Colorado as their marquee OOC game and they finished over .500 in the PAC once. Abilene Christian because SEC teams love FCS punching bags, North Texas and Fresno St along with the mighty SC and Vandy from the East. They might have a legit shot at winning 10 games with a bowl unless they go full aggy.
  17. I'd be okay with Marco for Boogie. To say there is a logjam at SG is an understatement. You have DeRozan, Marco, Forbes, Patty and Lonnie at SG. Marco's expiring contract is appealing trade bait as well, he'll be off the books completely next season. The Spurs have a strong locker room and a hard nosed coach, Boogie would be kept in check.
  18. Denver is going to be very good again, quite possibly the #1 seed in the west. Portland had a nice off season. The Jazz have a pretty solid roster assembled. Houston is a toss up, it could really go either way. I'm just basing it off how things presently stand. If the Lakers pull a shocker and land Kawhi they're the unquestionable #1 in the west with Denver/Portland fighting for #2.
  19. Prior to Free Agency the Knicks were 45 to 1 odds to win the title. Fans weren't the only ones laughing at the Knicks, today they plummeted to 150 to 1 as the odds makers laugh their asses off as well.
  20. James Dolan should go ahead and sell the Knicks. Take your billions and go home. The Knicks are an even bigger joke and laughing stock than the Lakers have been. Everyone is laughing at them and their excuses after they whiffed on their targets.
  21. What's left for the Knicks? Pay Boogie 30 million a year? Everyone knew they were going to strike out on the big guns.
