  1. @Brisketexan (I think) and I discussed this before. We both believe that the entire parcel is under a bunch of ground leases. I know for a fact that the Greenwood is or was on a leasehold condominium at one point, which means either the developer has to buy out the individual owners or wait until the ground lease terms out.

That place was horrible. But then again so is Mod Pizza.

Yeah I live right around there and don't remember any other burger place unless it was one of the many restaurants that have populated the HEB anchored center at that intersection. There was a brewery behind the Hat Creek Burger Co. a few years back. But I don't remember them having food.

Any posters tried the smashburger at Thunder Chief in the Lavaca Street on S. Lamar? Looks legit.
  6. One of the gals on the Golden Bachelor this season is a Westlake mom. It's a train wreck of a show, but all the buzz in the 78746l

There was a Godfather's across the street from the engineering college at OU my freshman year when I thought I could hack it as a chem e major. Cheap all you could eat lunch buffet. Probably put on 15 pounds that first semester before I realized I wasn't cut out for engineering and switched to the biz school. Never lost the 15 though.
  8. Moreno's, but call first as they're moving to a new location and may be closed. Brown's on South Lamar for pork ribs. Green Mesquite for Chicken Wings, icy cold Shiner Bock/Fire Eagle Pale Ale, and the best urban beer garden in Austin. If you're up for a drive, Opie's on 71 and get the butter beans Also, BOOMER!

Back from NM Oldie but goodie
  10. Sitting out on my deck at Lake LBJ. Horizon Lighting and really delayed thunder from the NE. Radarscope shows a front with storms around Lampasas, and yet I can see and hear it here. Pretty cool. Perhaps should go in the High thread.
  11. Rancho de Chamayo today. This year is their 60th anniversary. Still as good as ever.
  12. Orlando's in Taos tonight. Working our way south to Santa Fe over the next few days.
  13. More Santa Fe adjacent but I'll be at Rancho de Chamayo for my red chile fix Wednesday.
  14. Imagine a hell where every day for eternity you flew back and forth between Lubbock Preston Smith "International" Airport and Rick Husband Amarillo "International" Airport, stopping only briefly at each airport to dine at one of the airport restaurants before re-boarding your return flight.
  15. I think it was someone on here who first mentioned it. Cruzteca is outstanding. Great drinks too.
  16. Stolen from reddit
  17. Maybe it was Lucky Dog then Jack's. But it was Lucky Dog at some point.
  18. Jack's Burger House that begat Lucky Dog that begat Torchy's.

Reprise. Billy's BLT and a free 512 IPA cause the keg blew.
  20. Probably been mentioned but worth calling out Giovanni's Table in Bee Cave (or on the way to Bee Cave) on 2244 for a great family owned Italian place.
  21. Roflcopter KGRK - Super-Res Reflectivity 1, 4_36 PM.mp4
  22. Chili's and/or Schlotzsky's are our go tos on roadtrips. Any decent sized town in Texas, NM, Colorado or OK have one or the other. Not too expensive and reliably decent food. Probably eaten at the Schlotzsky's in Sweetwater on the way to NM more than I've eaten at the ones in Austin.
  23. He lived in Horseshoe Bay late in life, on the lighthouse peninsula. The stained glass above this doorway were epic. Truly a legend.
