  1. Have a friend and more acquaintances that have setups like this at home. Part of their saturdays are driving around random liquor stores looking out for items on their wish list. I also believe that a trip across the state takes a few extra hours as they stop at small town stores. From what I can tell just talking to the small town liquor store owners often leads to a score. while I don’t get it the collection aspect, I find the people that collect to be very generous.
  2. @wackawacka not to turn this into a debate but is there a reason you seem adamant about not wanting a suv? For cross country trips with pets, it’s hard to beat a solid SUV that gives you plenty of room. And I understand that SUVs can just be overgrown station wagons bot grocery getters, but they offer a lot flexibility. on driving trips, SUVs can allow you to overpack.
  3. I don’t understand why anyone would want to start teaching in Texas today unless they had no other options. Same with many states.
  4. We’re too busy going after overly hyped crimes when people are being murdered in front of us. Also don’t flip people off on a country of 400m guns and many are angry to begin with.
  5. And reviews like only reinforce their views that the media is out to get them and/or protecting the guilty.
  6. I don’t know what level child trafficking is occurring and whether the volume has changed over time. Don’t get me wrong, one incident is horrifying but is it getting worse? I would think it was worse in earlier American history than today but who knows. I am sure that I don’t believe the QAnon folks who say 1 million US kids disappear each year. At that level, the odds of making it to 18 unkidnapped would be low.
  7. When I first heard of this movie, I was certain that it must be about Dem politicians kidnapping children to drink their blood. Not at all. Apparently its all about child trafficking in Latin America. While I have no idea of the scope of child trafficking in Latin American countries, I assume it's greater than zero. However let's look at the hypocrisy of those flocking to the theaters. They don't give one crap about Latin American victims. We're putting buoys up to keep refugees them out.
  8. The crowds seem to going to the film just to show the libs. Very impressive marketing strategy to push viewers to buy tickets for others. Some MAGAts and QAnons are absolutely buying tickets for their friends and families, because by-God they need to see this documentary. (I know it's not a documentary.) You know that some husbands are telling their wives they ain't going to the movies this weekend and they don't care that her father spent $100s buying tickets for everyone.
  9. Should Biden withdraw all troops in Texas and sell off the military base land just because 52% of Texas votes GOP?
  10. Yes that is what I described as the symptoms above. which point to a compressor not working. However I can't look at or listen to an AC unit and know the cause of the compressor not coming on. My point without being overly obvious is that we've all run into repairman who know they can fix the problem but prefer to sell a new unit. As soon as they see a unit that is 10-15+ years old, they're going to tell you to replace. It's not necessarily wrong but it isn't necessarily your only option. A new unit should be more efficient and may cool better but you will be paying for that.
  11. Biden isn’t going to punish Alabama just because they elect a POS. Democrats are not the GOP.
  12. Biden should just “promote” all of these military personnel as acting. Let tuberville sue the administration and military. If congress fails to perform their advise and consent role, then they are abdicating that power.
  13. On Sunday, AC started blowing uncooled air and wasn't expelling hot air at the condenser. Decided to test out the capacitor from a memory of watching a repairman back in the day. After a few videos on how not to electrocute myself and test it with a multimeter, I was fairly certain the capacitor was dead. $25 replacement part and the cold air has returned.
  14. Not that I have kids but I would trust the care, of my non-existing kid, to a drag queen before any preacher, teacher or coach. And I think the vast majority of the teachers, preachers and coaches are perfectly find but they seem to have an over indexed level of pervs in that group.
  15. You aren’t cool until you carry a homemade, plastic shield.
  16. What company had the contract to make the ball wall? And how much did their owners contribute to Abbott?
  17. If anyone has a DeSantis fan in their orbit, I recommend just repeating that Ron even makes Ted seem likable. There isn’t a good comeback to that.
  18. guarantee some of these knuckleheads can watch a episode like this of It's Always Sunny, and they don't even realize they're the butt of the joke.
  19. and they quickly fired the people for calling it for Biden. Not that night but soon afterwards. There are transcripts of their anchors not debating whether Trump lost or not, but how it was killing them that they, Fox News, called it. They were happy to go along with Trump because their ratings were the only concern. Not the truth.
  20. is that as he's being voted off Survivor?
  21. Many on the right have embraced the concept of landing on an idea or belief and refusing to ever question it again. Remember how flip flopping was a sin against John Kerry because his position shifted his as he learned more. If you refuse to question yourself or let others question you, then your only option is to reinforce your locked-in belief.
  22. I don’t see how Twitter can claim ownership of IP that allows users to endlessly scroll thru postings. Which at this point is the only aspect Elon could possibly know today about Threads. And that behavior describes every social media site. I would think the real IP would be in the algorithm that decides which posts to display next. Elon would have zero idea how Threads work behind the scenes. Any lawsuit is a fishing expedition just hoping to discover comms between the developers indicating IP theft. regardless I hate Facebook maybe even more so than Twitter so I’m cool if this somehow expedites the end of both.
  23. Depending on the mom’s health, the convenience of the care-giver/nearby child should be a deciding factor on where parents live. I get wanting to give parents the autonomy of a decision but they’re not the ones that will be asked to drive over perhaps 1-3x per week. For my 70 year old parent I can get onboard with letting them decide even if it’s a good drive but I would want them to rent. Once they hit 75 or 80, it can go downhill quickly. You will want less barriers to moving them closer. also as people get to be much older, their world shrinks. Living in that small town doesn’t matter as they don’t drive or get out much anyway.
  24. If why these people and probably the US are lost. It’s fair to disagree on opinions or goals, but when we disagree on math, like election results, we’ve lost. some have dug in too deep and can never admit they’re wrong. Admitting they’re wrong would most likely shatter their mental state. But these 25-40% of the public will continue to vote. I have no doubt we will still hear “Trump won” 30 years after his death.
