  1. The two parks could hardly be more different. I've spent an immense amount of time at Old Settlers (well, the RR Multipurpose Complex) watching soccer and those facilities are fantastic. Other than that, it's a suburban park in . . . a suburb. Zero character in a zero character neighborhood. If that's what you want, knock yourself out.
  2. Well let's be honest, one cannot deny the scenic beauty one encounters when driving along 79 to Old Settlers Park. Old Settlers Boulevard is a nice alternative, and equally stunning.
  3. Got it, thanks.
  4. Where did they rank Franklin?
  5. I think the presence of outliers does support the idea that RPI isn't everything. Georgia at #2 RPI and #7 seed is a clue. So is LSU at #10 RPI and #6 seed. If RPI were everything it would have been Vandy, UGA, Auburn, Texas, Arky, UNC, Oregon State and Coastal Carolina, in order. The fact that the top 8 seeds are loaded with top 10 RPI teams doesn't scream "conspiracy" to me.
  6. This guy on KXAN aspires to be as dynamic as David Schwimmer.
  7. I'll ask her when she gets home.
  8. Almost 2" per hour in near west Austin at this point. Bring it!
  9. That's the chlamydia warning system.
  10. I'm switching over. KXAN has taken a big step down from Pretty Boy.
  11. They couldn't figure out how to make enough room for "Whittingham"?
  12. You raise a good point. If ever there were a moment when their weirdness would have been minimized in terms of job attractiveness, it was coming off a runner-up finish at CWS with a loaded roster. And yet somehow they ended up hiring a hitting coach to run the program.
  13. Well, he surely didn't write the sentence containing the word "exculpatory".
  14. That's so much better it's comical.
  15. Interesting take by the committee regarding UConn. They had the 2nd best RPI of the 8 teams vying for last 4 in, last 4 out, yet they held their record against top 100 RPI teams against them. Does RPI matter or not?
  16. Let's be honest, you got turned down by Colin Jost.
  17. Calm down, Nancy.
  18. There are a lot of similarities there.
  19. I understand that. I'm just pointing out that the championship hasn't been a winner-take-all single game for over two decades. I'm pretty sure the 2 out of 3 format still draws a ton of eyes (relatively speaking).
  20. Well, that's sobering. And impressive. Thanks for your service, Bozo's Granddad.
  21. I don't think your last sentence was nearly that malleable, but I'm not going to belabor the point.
  22. Well, that's not even close to true for some people. Class size alone can intimidate kids. I was a transfer into UT my soph year, and I left after a semester. I loved the place but 600 people in a class was just a non-starter for me. I didn't mind the size of the campus or the enrollment, but every person is different, and to assume you know what motivates a specific invidicual is pretty arrogant. I came back for grad school, because I knew I loved UT and Austin and class size wouldn't be an issue.
