  1. Well, that's a bit of a stretch.
  2. The best things at Green Mesquite are the ice cold beer schooners.
  3. I don't know how anyone could think it's anything but mental. He played like garbage against Florida, played pretty well against OU, played like garbage against Kentucky. Three games in a row and his best performance was against the best defense of the three. Please don't.
  4. These days players transfer because they get more money elsewhere, not so much playing time or winning. It's a new day, and it is fucked up beyond repair.
  5. That's where I'm at. There are too many deficiences on this team to fix and we aren't going to significantly improve the offensive line or elevate the defense from "good" to "elite". Arch has a ton of physical skills, not the least of which is his running ability, but his head is fucked up. With only one more loss with MIGHT make the playoffs simply because the other conferences are top heavy but thin beyond that. I'm skeptical even making that prediction, and I have zero hope at only one more loss. It ain't our year. Might as well see if Arch can be unfucked.
  6. My brother in law picked up some brisket from Black's on Guadalupe for the OU game -- honestly, it was pretty tasty. Wasn't that supposed to be the trash outlet?
  7. I've resorted to thinner cuts of good top sirloin for fajitas. Not the same thing but still tasty. I swear I checked Central Market for outside skirt a year or so ago, nada. Maybe it's hit or miss.
  8. As long as I can get a rail spot on the top balcony at Mohawk, I'm good. If it's too crowded for that it's hard to finagle decent sight and sound. (It's still probably my favorite club in town, though.)
  9. My wife is a Tom Petty fanatic. Interestingly enough, today is her birthday. She believes it's divine providence.
  10. I'm not giving Arch a pass, he was for the most part terrible tonight. I'm just saying that anyone expecting less than chaotic results across P4 football is going to be surprised, repeatedly. We are not exempt.
  11. Did you see #2 Miami get beat by unranked Louisville? Did you see #25 Nebraska get stomped by unranked Minnesota? Did you see #10 LSU get beat by #17 Vandy? Did you see #22 Memphis get beat by unranked UAB? Did you see #7 TTech get beat by unranked Az State? This chaos is a direct result of lack of year-to-year continuity. We are not the only team struggling with it. Be observant, or just continue swinging your purse. We're down, for sure, but most teams are.
  12. lulz. Drink more. Pay attention to what's happening while you're at it.
  13. NIL + portal = no great teams and dozens who can beat each other any given day. Welcome to shitty college football.
  14. He's such a tool. I have fever dreams of running into him on the street and . . . well . . .
  15. Did not play out so well.
  16. Actually, I do. But this thread is for people to post music they wrote or performed.
  17. Kansas? Next up: University of Phoenix
  18. Well, he said "affirmative", so UVa is fucked.
  19. It's also a progressive/liberal hotbed. (People wonder how I grew up with my point of view in MO . . . mom & dad are both Wash U grads, with dad getting all 3 degrees there before we moved to a smaller rural school where he taught engineering.)
  20. It's a 10 hour flight from DC to Moscow. I know I'll regret asking this, but what's the point of a 50-mile tunnel when the flight from DC to Nome alone is 12 hours? I know, I know.
  21. Years ago, I went out on the town with a buddy and a few of his friends, one of whom was a touring comedian. He was essentially a nobody. Nobody could hang with him in terms of any kind of back and forth banter, he was just way too quick and experienced at that. It was pretty eye-opening.
  22. See for instance the delicious "al pastor" spit-roasted dish of Mexico, the predecessor of which was brought by Lebanese immigrants as "doner/shawarma". I celebrate all their catalogs.
  23. I told them I have 2 students on the 40 acres right now. I admitted the older kid is too close to graduation for me to pull the plug (9 hours), but that I am encouraging my son to transfer, particularly since he wants to change majors and extend my largesse.
  24. Now let's extend that viewpoint to food. "Cultural appropriation" is such a fussy, ignorant concern.
