  1. This shouldn't surprise anyone, but here are the last 10 CFP champions and their team defense rankings: 2015: Alabama #2 2016: Clemson #10 2017: Alabama #1 2018: Clemson #1 2019: LSU #33 2020: Alabama #13 2021: Georgia #1 2022: Georgia #5 2023: Michigan #1 2024: Ohio State #1 Half of the champions had the statistical #1 defense in the country. Two others were top 5. One at #10, one at #13 (covid year) . The major outlier was LSU, to which I counter "Joe Burrow and Joe Brady". The correlation seems pretty clear. This doesn't address the offenses, but it does seem to indicate you're not likely to win the title without a very stout defense, which we have. Hence, the optimism.
  2. Well, to put a finer point on it, Brooks started 3 games total at Texas. He had a great ypc, but still only had 1139 yards in his best year. ("Only" lol.) Baxter had well over half that amount his freshman year. I'm not saying he's Brooks, I'm just saying that some team may view him higher than you expect. I also don't know that I'd call him "RB2" if in fact his rehab is going as well as some would have us believe. Whatever, I don't care where guys get drafted, if Wisner and Baxter can be an effective 1-2 punch then I'm all for it.
  3. J Brooks was drafted in the 2nd round after playing in 22 games with 238 attempts. Baxter has already played in 13 games with 138 attempts. Barring another injury, he'll easily eclipse that 238 attempt #. So far, he hasn't been as productive as Brooks, I'm not equating them, but I also don't think he needs Heisman numbers to get drafted, and possibly in the first couple of rounds.
  4. There is more value in the Seaholm watch than just the movement.
  5. Let me know how it works out. It's very simple so it might not be what you're looking for.
  6. I'm always puzzled by NFL contract implications regarding who gets kept and who gets cut. Thinking like a simple head of family, given two equally "meh" options, I'd prefer to try to dump the costlier guy and get some of my money back from another team who is desparate. Maybe that doesn't work, or at least for Wilson. So often I hear "we have so much invested" which is just lingo for "sunk cost" in my mind.
  7. Going by memory, I'm guessing a bit over a pint.
  8. I don't really know where to put this, so I'll put it here. Some of you know Rich Brotherton, and many more have seen and heard him as Robert Earl Keen's trusty guitarist for decades. He retired from Robert's band a few years back. He has actually posted on UT boards in the past. Well, he has some bad news. He has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I'm nowhere near his closest friend but we've known each other for years, recorded together, swapped gear, etc. and I can confidently say this sucks ass and that he is one of the most gifted, kind and humble musicians in Austin. He seems to be doing OK so far, but we all know where that disease goes. I'll let him speak to the details from his Facebook post.
  9. I bitch about Pluto the chihuahua a lot, because she's a nervous wreck and thus annoying 24/7, but honestly we all love her very much. Here she is when we got her, 9 years ago today:
  10. So Sark recruited a running back with limited skills who doesn't fit our offense?
  11. I think the odds of all 4 making the playoff are higher.
  12. Well, there was a followup to the story on KXAN where she claims the airline reimbursed her for one she bought out of a Nashville shop, AND Sweetwater sent her one for free. So, instead of sending that one back she's actioning it off for charity. WTF? That's not how this is supposed to work. Send that one back to Sweetwater. She already has a replacement and she's not out any money.
  13. At what point do those become drone flights?
  14. I'm pretty sure he's a lock for at least the practice squad, barring the signing of another QB.
  15. Dude tore his hamstring having sex? Impressive.
  16. This. (I was just gonna say that.)
  17. I can replay that injury in my mind's eye to this day. I was there, a few rows up in the end zone. I was looking downfield, I'm guessing OU was on about their 40? and I saw him plant and then buckle. It was bad right from the jump.
  18. OOC or not, I feel bad for A&M that they seem to play UGA every year.
  19. How many days until August 30, excatly? Jesus Christ this is maddening.
