  1. Well, his dad was an addict.
  2. There will always be critics. I would think most people would go easy on him, but if he wants to be a pro drummer (and I have no idea if that's even true) he's always going to be compared to his dad. See for instance Jason Bonham and Zak Starkey.
  3. I caught The Damned last night at Radio East. It was about as punk rock as the Austin High marching band. Really weird show. Not bad, but very mid-energy, clean, "pro". I really liked the opener "TV Smith and the Adverts". Apparently they had a hit in the real punk rock era, but I had never heard of them. By the way, Radio East is huge. Like, bigger than Stubb's.
  4. I think Travis Barker should get a shot. The usual names -- Danny Carey, Chad Smith, Matt Cameron -- are all quite a bit older than Dave. They might give Taylor Hawkins' kid a look, or maybe someone out of left field like Stanton Moore (Galactic). Jimmy Chamberlin would be unreal, but Billy Corgan would have him murdered, so that's a non-starter. Roger Taylor's kid seemed pretty good when he sat in with them. Tough call. It will probably be some unknown.
  5. Yet another example of how soccer ruined America.
  6. Christ. Two outs, bases loaded, full count . . . weather delay. FUCK Oklahoma.
  7. God I hate white base green base
  8. Christ, that 1B ump is fucking ecstatic
  9. Time for another double play.
  10. Clark >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ewers
  11. Seriously. Bases loaded, no outs, no runs score.
  12. OK, what's the deal here? SECN+ shows Galvan up, 14 pitches in, no outs, no baserunners, no balls or strikes. Fucking amateur hour. Oh look: two outs magically appeared and the pitch count dropped to 10.
  13. Hot takes! Controversy!
  14. Love the comment "Fluorida Man".
  15. Interesting. Most wood has about 10% the density of steel, so if they compress it 4X they're up to ~ 40% or so. A strength-to-weight ratio 10X that of steel (what alloy? steel strength varies wildly) implies 4X the strength of steel (10X = 4X/0.4X). And the big question . . . cost.
  16. Yes, this is a highlight reel, but I think it should put to rest the idea that Ewers CAN'T make most of the throws many other NFL caliber QBs make. The better question in my mind is "why doesn't he make some of those throws more often?". Like many, I think lingering injuries hampered him.
  17. I absolutely remember that game, and I saw it pretty much as you did. I never felt like Simms let us down that day.
  18. Quinn Ewers was a far better runner than Colt McCoy.
  19. Believe me, I get the snark. That said, I'm up for the debate, because well, I'm up and waiting on family. The idea that Ewers "literally cannot make those throws" is ridiculous. Did their styles look different? Sure. Simms threw flat bullets, Ewers threw lofted passes to various degrees that were often easier to catch. The implication is that Ewers can't throw those 15-30 yard downfield passes, and it's simply not true. One can easily find dozens of examples in just 2024 alone.
