  1. This is the worst game in the history of baseball.
  2. Thought that might drop, just hung a bit
  3. Eh, my nephew is in the PhD program there now (MechEng out of Georgia Tech). His brother graduated from there (Business) 5 years ago. They both love it. Madison is a very cool town, like old Austin. I'd say it's tolerable for a short while.
  4. That was a good pitch. Fuck.
  5. He's still making some nice pitches 100+ into the game. Not sure what Tardlock is trying to accomplish here, though.
  6. Nice to see from Dre.
  7. Depending on department, I'd put UDub above the others you listed. @Beau Vine can surely speak to UDub and Texas State with some authority. I haven't heard fantastic things about Boulder from parents who have sent their kids there recently, it's pricey and somewhat of a party school. (My cousin did his PhD in AeroEng there, though, and raves about it, but that was almost 30 years ago.) I'd look at some Big 10 schools -- most are good to great. Michigan is probably a stretch, but Illinois and Wisconsin might not be. Minnesota, Maryland, and Penn State should be do-able. What majors is he considering?
  8. Well done, coach. Yikes.
  9. Good thing Will is 8 feet tall.
  10. Runner looked out at 1st to me
  11. Good lord, same shot, 3 run HR this time
  12. "with an exception for pregnant people". Well done, Louisiana.
  13. Base on balls, runner on 1st, 1 out, 1-0 good guys
  14. Again, I'm unaware of all the machinations, but if the kid gets $X from Tech (as opposed to us) then the market just got reset. We just don't want to be the ones doing it? I think the whole thing is out of whack but if we're gonna play, then play.
  15. This is ESPN+, right?
  16. Yeah, I'm excited to see Juliana. I don't think I've ever seen her, save maybe Blake Babies.
  17. Great song, ironically NOT written by Dave Pirner:
  18. Oh, hell no. Gin Blossoms were milquetoast. Late 80's Soul Asylum was an absolute monster of a band, the equal of their Minneapolis peers Husker Du and The Replacements. I should have lived in Minneapolis (and of course throw in Prince). If you ever wondered where Grand Champeen, The Wannabes, Slobberbone etc. took their cues, it was in good part Soul Asylum. 1988:
  19. Back when the Austin Airport had smoker's cages, I saw Shawn Mullins bending Shawn Colvin's ear. She was trapped, she wanted that cig, but this guy was clearly making her miserable. It was pretty comical.
  20. Regular rotation, my man. Regular rotation. Scratch vocal track, too. Otis died 3 days later.
  21. I was at a car museum somewhere in Ohio, and from a distance I saw a really stunning black 30's-era Mercedes limousine. I said to my wife "man, that looks like something Hitler would have ridden in". We walked up and the placard showed the entire history of the car, including the photo of Hitler riding in it during a parade. It was one of his personal vehicles. Kinda creeped me out, to be honest.
