  1. Yeah, we have a small house and when our 100-lb lab mix has a cone it's rough - we have to keep all breakable stuff off the coffee table, end tables, etc in the common areas because they're all at risk between his cone and his giant wagging tail. See my above comment re: the inflatable collar.
  2. It does not work on my 100-lb, long-bodied dog, but I don't know if he's outside the norm. He figured out pretty quickly that he just needed to puncture the tube and get it to deflate in order to get to his stitches. E-collar is the only thing that works for him.
  3. Eh, sure we have problems, but so does every big city and there's still no place in Texas I'd rather be. (And we need to be in TX to be close to family.) There's still charm, and things to love. The lady down the street from me has a mini-horse she dresses up for Halloween every year, and we always make sure to walk by her house to feed him carrots or apples. I went into this shop on North Lamar last week and was greeted by the owner's 3-legged dog. Dan's burgers still taste like they did when I moved here in 1999 and they're still my favorite burgers in town. I still laugh at the OG El Arroyo's signs. I still enjoy White Christmas at the Paramount in winter, and their summer movie series in the summer. Etc. (The caveat to the above is that I recognize that I'm fortunate enough to have been here and bought property before things got too out of hand, and that we can afford to live here. I know my tune might be different in different circumstances.)
  4. The actual survey link isn't working anymore, but someone on Twitter did a video screen cap of them taking it before it went down. If you want to see the whole thing.
  5. This business with Southwest is bullshit but since we’re discussing packing, I will share that I, a woman, went to India for a week-long business trip with only a purse and a carry-on. Could barely lift it over my head on the way back, with souvenirs and whatnot, but I did it.
  6. Current mood re: cedar
  7. Hand to God, I watch this every year and even after ~35 years, this line makes me legit laugh out loud.
  8. You know that metal plate in my head? I had to get it replaced cause every time Catherine revved up the microwave, I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for half an hour.
  9. Hey now, I mentioned Mister Roberts and its sequel, Ensign Pulver, on page 1.
  10. I grew up watching these with my dad. Casablanca is a given, but here are few other favorites off the top of my head: Across the Pacific Operation Petticoat Mister Roberts Ensign Pulver In Harm's Way
  11. I could walk to Howe from my parents' house. I enjoyed growing up there, but I couldn't wait to leave and have no plans to move back.
  12. After PNG scored their first touchdown, my son goes "They aren't jumping in the kettle because they can't afford the fine."
  13. Pretty sure there were more PNG people there than SOC. Great energy in the stadium, for sure. The last time they got this far was the season after I graduated, and I didn't go to that game. It was fun to be back in the atmosphere of a really good high school football matchup, even if the win wasn't in our favor. My 14-year-old, who's never experienced a game like this before, had a lot of fun.
  14. PNG came out of the gate looking like the championship-level team they've been all year, but couldn't adjust quickly enough to SOC's more flexible play calling and, frankly, more skilled offensive positions. SOC had a ton of offensive penalties called on them in the first half, and our run defense was great, but PNG couldn't match up to their pass playing - which, admittedly, is pretty excellent for a high school team. Sad to see my alma mater lose, but it was fun to catch up with old schoolmates and to know that some of those 5-star SOC players are coming to UT. Not a bad showing for Johnson, considering it's his first year.
  15. Albie never did find out that his dad banged Lucia, did he?
  16. Why won't Greg get shit? They didn't go into specifics but it sounded like he'd get something if she died. They weren't clear on what happened with Ethan and Daphne.
  17. I've watched the whole thing. It's not Dark but I still enjoyed it.
  18. Maybe the mods will take pity on me and correct my typo. Y'all should still watch the show, though.

    1899

New Netflix show. I'm on episode 5 and it's intriguing - like Lost meets Event Horizon, but on a ship and set in the 1800s, if you couldn't tell from the name.
  20. I took Italian for my language credit in college, and one semester these two Mexican exchange students took the class. It took them no time at all to become fluent. All the interrogatives, for example, sound the same in Spanish and Italian; they're just spelled differently. Italian does plurals differently, too, but if you're fluent in one you can pick up the other really easily.
  21. Cam would fuck Harper in a heartbeat if she was up for it, but I don't think she would actually do that. I think she's just trying to make Ethan see that other people want her even if he doesn't.
  22. It is Die Hard meets Home Alone. Really fun movie and I also loved Santa's backstory.
  23. Mia poisoned the piano player, not Lucia. Although she did use Lucia's stash to do it.
