  1. I was there in '83 to watch Texas whip Auburn on the road. They had such high expectations coming into the season and i can still remember how stunned they were when we whipped them. That was their only loss that season and they wound up jumping us in the final AP Poll.
  2. This is the same asshole that still gripes about the "Central Park Five" being guilty as hell despite their having been fully exonerated
  3. I was forced back to the TexasBBS and a cold chill just ran up my spine
  4. Philmont announced that the June treks were cancelled, but July treks are still a go. It has left us scrambling to get prepared while still observing safe social distancing. None of the kids on this trek have been to Philmont before so I am setting up Zoom meetings about water treatment and packing. My guess is that it will all be for naught as soon someone out there thinks it through.
  5. Nebraska yes. They spent a ton of bucks fitting and retrofitting their facilities for broadcasting. Don't know about the aggies. I do know that Bill Byrne told DeLoss that it would never be profitable.
  6. This. Not only has Missouri never been called out, but they have spent the period since they left blaming Texas for the whole shit-show. I could maybe scrounge up a scintilla of respect had they just called their shot, pulled it off, and taken the credit or blame for it. Instead, they have hidden and thrown Texas under the bus at every opportunity. Missouri spent decades lifting their skirts for the the blue-bloods in the Big-Ten and jumped on the first viable offer to come along after reality set-in that the Big 10 never saw them as an option. I derive great satisfaction every time I think of Rutgers and Maryland being in the Big 10 because I know it gnaws on Missouri that those two schools were asked to a dance that Missouri planned and was stood up for. Nebraska is in the same boat. Planned and prepared for their own athletic network, quashed the idea of a conference network for the sake of those plans, and then hid behind and blamed Texas for killing said network. Though at least Nebraska wound up where they wanted to be because it was believed (mistakenly) their pedigree would lend prestige to the Big 10 and make it more competitive.
  7. Get rid of the collar patch. Get rid of "Texas" across the front. But, if I had one wish it would reconcile the font on the jerseys with the font for the numbers on the back of the helmet. Our jersey numbers would look something similar to the Chicago Bears. I hate that block script. Particularly the over sized font on the front of the jersey.
  8. My parents took me to Hobby Airport to watch the Dolphins arrive for Super Bowl VII. I was struggling to get autographs in the crowds and found myself at the foot of the stairs to a team bus. I took a pic of Don Shula sitting in the first row behind the bus driver. He let me come onto the bus and get the players autographs as they got on the bus.
  9. Wait. Paul Shaffer isn't gay? NTTAWWT
  10. Late to the party, but it's no coincidence that MLB dropped the Red Sox findings and "punishment" on the day it was announced that a group is trying to certify a class action lawsuit against MLB. Fuck Rob Manfred.
  11. Can't say we weren't warned
  12. Strawmen engaged. Full speed crazy ahead.
  13. Then there is the over-correction of when an incapacitated individual is taught to maintain a safe distance from others and to keep people out of your "safe zone." Hospital Officials are Struggling Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  14. Very worried about Philmont (mid-July) and Sea Base (early-August). At least I'll keep my record intact. I've never had a Philmont trek scheduled that wasn't canceled until the following summer.
  15. Off topic somewhat, but has anyone had to ask someone to back off and give some space? I was waiting in self checkout line at the grocery store the other day (sans mask to steer it somewhat back on topic) and some old fart rolls up right on my heels and I could tell he was really pleased at how uncomfortable he was making me. I had also just had an incident with a woman that practically climbed over my back to get to a bag of granola as if it was the last item on any shelf at Tom Thumb.
  16. Jimmy Wynn was my Astro Buddy every year I was an Astro Buddy. Flash forward a couple of decades and I was in the media room at the Dome when he came and sat down to eat with us. I told him he was my one and only Astro Buddy and every time I saw him after that he called me "Buddy." If you go to Wynn's Wikipedia page Here you'll see a reference to his appearance in the movie "Apollo 13." I was responsible for that video (not the Wikipedia entry). A party connected with the film called KTRK during their pre-pro requesting Astros video contemporaneous with certain dates and I located some in the archives, but not a lot. I had it dropped to half-inch tape and sent them the Wynn clips, including the one that wound up in the movie. Forgot all about it until I was sitting in the theater. He was a good dude.
  17. He didn't need to do anything but step back and let Trump trip all over his own dick. It was as easy as stepping-aside and watching the free-fall and subsequent finger pointing like the rest of us.
  18. He's simply not cut out for this. He's the exact wrong person for this job (never more so than now) and at the exact, wrong time. Even in the midst of an international crisis his thoughts and actions are driven solely by his need for approval and increasing his re-election chances. He has failed at every opportunity to lead because he doesn't know how to. His whole life he's always managed to lie, cheat, or scam his way out situations and he's finally met his match.
  19. Sure. If Nancy Pelosi tells him he can.
  20. "Bill O'Brien has traded away Clowney and Hopkins and somehow has ZERO first round picks. Not even fucking his own. LOL. That is inexplicable incompetence." What's the degree of difficulty in not landing at least one first rounder? Quite an accomplishment to pull that off.
  21. The very same David Johnson whose carries were so limited because of chronic ankle and back injuries that it forced the Cardinals to make a mid-season trade for Kenyan Drake last year.
  22. Me too. Listened to Nebraska-Miami on the way back to Houston and it just kept getting worse and worse. I was at that game as well. The wind was howling from the north and Rick McIvor was just slinging it when he had it to his back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Fields was deep, behind Curry - which I have always believed was the first mistake. No one should have been back there to field the punt or Fields should have been where Curry was standing. Curry should have been lined up over a gunner.
  23. Nobody cares whether "they drop it." It isn't happening and the moral compass will soon point somewhere else. The fervor of these sanctimonious hypocrites will fade into the background when this moves from an "Astros scandal" to a Major League Baseball scandal. Until then, f'em.
  24. It would also be just like VG to have Kim set off a chain-of-events that leads to the accidental death of the old man. No one saw the humanitarian interaction after hours. The only witnesses saw her lose her temper with him. Even better if Jimmy comes up with the plan to physically evict the homeowner and then backs out. Jimmy doesn't learn that Kim went through with his plan until Howard calls to let him know that Kim is in jail and that she's retained Howard as her defense counsel. She's charged with murder and pleads down to involuntary manslaughter (no malice), loses her license, and is breaking rocks for the next 18-months.
