  1. Yep. This confirms my previous post. The issue here isn't whether logical arguments can be made in support of the death penalty. The issue is that Beeper thinks that persons accused of crimes should not be provided rights or due process. He just hates our Constitution.
  2. So you agree that your proposed solution doesn't exist in the real world. Then what is the purpose of your original post that history will look back on us as a nation of pansies? That heavily implies that you foresee a world existing wherein the structures we have in place to protect life and liberty don't exist and that you believe that future is favorable to our current situation. Do you not believe in using beyond a reasonable doubt as the burden of proof for criminal proceedings? Do you not believe in due process for persons who may be deprived of their life or liberty? Because it sounds like you view the Constitutional structures we have in place to protect life and liberty as burdens that need to be overcome. Perhaps 'king' is the most important word your post. You'd prefer the U.S. be an authoritarian system where a king can choose to execute citizens by executive fiat rather than a one that uses actual process to determine who should be held accountable and what form that accountability should take.
  3. I'm not sure I would label appeals and parole as abuses of the legal system. If we're going to take a person's liberty from them, we should want to get it right. And life without the possibility of parole seems like a good alternative to the death penalty that will address your concern.
  4. You'll have to fill me in. How? By being alive?
  5. Yup. He knew and is trying to cover his ass.
  6. You're saying that's what should happen in cases that don't exist. You're also failing to explain why that should happen. "It's common sense" is a bullshit, non-substantive, explanation. "It has a greater deterrent effect" is a bullshit, disproved explanation. "It's cheaper than life in prison" is a bullshit, disproved explanation if we're discussing real life and is a bullshit, unproven explanation if we're discussing your fantasy world where murder convictions are found within 45 days of the alleged murder and a defendant facing the death penalty chooses not to appeal.
  7. Any time the still frame at the beginning of the .gif is upside down, you know shit's about to happen.
  8. I gave you the benefit of the doubt and didn't think you'd actually be stupid enough to believe that we would ever be at a point where an execution takes place 45 days after an alleged murder.
  9. Fixed it for accuracy.
  10. This is wrong. There are no benefits that the death penalty provides that go beyond what life in prison provides. There are also extreme costs and risks. Vengeance is the only reason to use the death penalty. And I can tell from the rhetoric in your post that while you claim it's not about revenge killing, for you it's about revenge killing.
  11. Probably the Iranians.
  12. A huge chunk of those who want armed insurrection already need health care for all; they are just too stupid to know.
  13. Don't lie. You got a hard on when the image entered your head.

  15. They got knocked loose while he was sucking Trump's dick.

  17. The only way I'd shake Trump's hand is if I just dropped a deuce and the place was out of toilet paper.
  18. Ha. According to that, I'm qualified for MENSA. I'm not a dumb guy, but if I qualify for the super smart society then it's probably not all that it's made out to be.
  19. Have you been living under a rock?
  20. You should know by now that bt can't let anything go. He's basically the Derka of politics.
  21. If she's a real East Texas teetotaling bible thumper, then getting shit faced on wine coolers seems like it would be right in her wheelhouse.
  22. We had a fondue set once. We used it once. I eventually threw it out and she hasn't asked about it since.
  23. That's actually pretty funny.
  24. Probably when a bunch of school-aged kids kept on getting shot and no one did anything, so schools started teaching active shooter drills.
