  1. I was discussing the policy implications. Not the science. Policy matters. The British passed a law declaring they will be carbon neutral in 2050. Ireland is about to pass a law banning the sale of internal combustion engines. A proper policy response requires a war with China and possibly India, do you not recognize that? I don't understand, if the science is so strong, why are the "scientists" wrong so often? The polar bears aren't dying. Snow isn't a thing of the past. The polar ice cap didn't melt. There was no increase is storms. Droughts are not more common. The hockey stick is wrong. There was no increase in sea level rise. Ice ages, running out of oil, famine, population explosion, it's an industry. Seriously, tell me why they're always wrong. At some point you realize they have been lying all along. It's an industry.
  2. It keeps you on your toes. I did Ireland last summer and Scotland before that. Main thing is that your personal space is greatly diminished. I'm about to head back over there and now I can't remember which countries I have speeding tickets in. I think the parking ticket in Switzerland got paid.
  3. Indeed. The remark about being a good family man was meant as an insult, like Czar Alexander III, who let millions die without ever giving a fuck. Don't you argue on a daily basis that the government should be given control over the economy and personal freedom? Government is evil. Rs, Ds, doesn't matter. The output is almost always bad. None of them give a shit about you or me. This thread is the perfect, the absolute perfect example. The political media complex thrives on fear. If you are scared, they can control you, they can take your freedom and you money. "WMD" Bush said. Military draft, land wars, lather rinse repeat. I choose not to be manipulated, most people don't have the intellectual and emotional independence to prevent that. If you want to avoid war, then you cannot let the media and the politicians control you. Which means you cannot let them make you scared all the time. That's how you stop war, with rational thought. Not by always asking the government to solve every problem. Because they give zero fucks about you or me, they only care about power and money.
  4. You're quoting a single, speculative paper and acting like it means something. There are so many things wrong with this, I don't know where to begin. You're out of your depth by a long way. Aren't you the poster who said that you just deny any fact that doesn't support your opinion?
  5. Because everyone understands that, so it is not under dispute. CO2 is unlike most other gasses, it is less soluble in water at higher temperatures. This physical characteristic is well know. You should reference a post I made above regarding "complex system". The only way to prove the AGW hypothesis is with evidence that exogenous CO2 leads to temperature increases, but we have plenty of example where that exact phenomenon doesn't change the temperature at all. The R^2 for CO2 is near zero. Restating something everyone already accepts does not make the R^2 0.93. Go to the master circuit at your house and flip it to the off position. Then take your car keys and throw them in the garbage. Don't worry, you won't have a job anymore anyway. The AGW hypothesis can only be proven one way, and it's not with an onslaught of liberal guilt.
  6. I wish I could rep this.
  7. Funny thing, but that's exactly what happened. W is indeed a complete piece of shit. Good family man though. A propos of this thread, Iran called Iraq to warn them of the attacks, knowing they would tell US. I mean, you can't just evacuate all your soldiers on a joint base and our guys don't notice all the iraqis are leaving. This was their saving face. They are scared shitless we might actually attack them, as well they should be.
  8. You appear to be confused. Where is the evidence that CO2 drives temperature?
  9. Show me where CO2 drives temperature.
  10. WTI front month showing $63.50 or so, up from $61 before Trump killed the asshole. Things aren't going well for the Mideast apocalypse narrative.
  11. I don't bear the burden of proof. If you are going to assert an hypothesis without evidence, then you have no evidence and ought not be listened to. Or, in more technical scientific terminology, you are full of shit. Did you know that northern hemishphere snowfall levels have been increasing? They used to say "snow will be athing of the past". There's more snow because it's getting colder. Please tell me that Rutgers is a part of the Denier Conspiracy., I need another good laugh.
  12. Mother fucker stole my talking point. Carry on gentlemen, the world is ending tomorrow, let's make the best of it.
  13. It's not "physics". The physics argument you describe is the same argument Al Gore makes. CO2 absorbs a particular wavelength of energy. Everyone understands this. However, that energy is absorbed into what is called a "complex system". That term has a particular meaning in science. It's a question of whether you understand what an experiment is. We are currently engaged in an experiment where we add CO2 to the atmosphere. The same experiment has been run in the past, with no affect on temperature. Since CO2 has been exogenously added to, or removed from, the atmosphere many times in the past without any temperature change, there will not be any temperature change now. However, when you add fear to a failing social system, the output is money, prestige, and power. That experiment is also well understood. A more persuasive argument is that we are at the end of the holocene. Cold is way more scary than warmth, which so far has been completely good for the climate. CO2 is plant food, the earth is 17% greener as a result of more CO2. I'll be looking for the chart that shows CO2 has ever driven temperature in the past.
  14. CO2 doesn't drive temperature. It just doesn't. This is clear from the historical record.
  15. I think there' still some battered fan syndrome going around. We had the talent to beat Georgia two years ago. We had the talent this year to assrape #11 Utah on both sides of the ball. It boils down to the coaching. We still lack the talent that we'll have in after a few years of winning, we're below the Clemson/Alabama/Ohio State level. But winning the conference? Why not? Beating LSU? Doable. It comes down to coaching. Herman coached up the underdogs and beat some big teams. He's done none of that here.
  16. It's been said before, but you should check the dates. Do you have anything that trumps November 2019?
  17. Yeah sorry about that. Here's something more current. https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/watchdog-irans-violations-nuclear-deal-increasing-66913829 https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-nw-iran-nuclear-deal-20191111-p3n3xid3oramvg67gvkvigismq-story.html https://www.timesofisrael.com/iran-announces-more-violations-of-nuclear-deal-with-new-centrifuges/ https://www.ajc.com/news/watchdog-iran-violations-nuclear-deal-increasing/2eXuoN5qPzukAz63sIXobM/ https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2019-11-11/atomic-watchdog-irans-stockpiles-of-uranium-still-growing https://www.ksl.com/article/46671641/un-reports-increasing-violations-of-iran-nuclear-deal They were found to be violating the agreement but our media didn't want to play it up. The centrifuges are spinning ad infinitum.
  18. And that is why the political environment I referenced (and nobody else did) is relevant. They recently shut down the entire internet in their country. We massively overpower them. Their banking system was destroyed. The protestors attacked 50 military bases. Even the threat to shut down Hormuz is a joke. You think they can start shit with us? Good Luck /MarcoFromTropoja Oil was up $2 yesterday. All you need to know.
  19. One of the most fantastic places I have ever visited is the War Museum in Seoul. It's right across from our base at Yongsan. When you walk into the the museum, you first enter this big hall. I can't remember what's on all the exhibits, but when you walk into the main hall, I think it's off to the left, there's one of those brass inscriptions. It has a couple of paragraphs, but the part I remember is the beginning. "If you desire peace, prepare for war". The quote was from hundreds of years ago. Democrats love power. Republicans love power. They express that love for power in different ways, but they're both worthless and corrupt parties. The Democrats are appeasers. History demonstrates really clearly that appeasement is bad. You have to punch back when attacked. We have been repeatedly attacked by Iran. We had to hit back, and we chose a good target. Republicans are mostly neocons even though most of their base is like me. Nobody wants a land war in Asia. Well, except for Republitards who can puff out their chests and feel manly since they didn't actually serve. Iran can retaliate but we have hundreds of cruise missiles parked in the Gulf aimed at Iran. More targeted assassinations, I would suspect, some infrastructure. You have to respond when attacked or you beget more attacks. It's what we did wrong with Bin Laden. Clinton could have killed him. Most people don't realize we have those cruise missiles pointed at Iran, but you bet your ass the Iranians do. Basically, it's all too complicated for politicians, who are the most worthless, corrupt, ignorant people on the planet. They almost always fuck it up. The chance of a land war in Iran or other serious escalation remains 0.0000000%. Iran isn't in position to project force. We are.
  20. Are you sure? Seems likes the knuckledraggers at CFR disagree with you. https://www.cfr.org/interview/significance-irans-secret-nuclear-plant
  21. I am 100% in agreement. I opposed the first Iraq War. I remember talking to a roommate about driving to DC to protest. I opposed the 2nd Iraq war. I continue to wonder why we're in Afhanistan, there is obviously no purpose.
  22. Your country was attacked by evil shithead terrorists three days ago. Did you feel a surge of patriotism and love for Trump?
  23. I expect to go undefeated. I'll tolerate a loss or two if we get really unlucky. Every game is winnable. Shit both OU and LSU were winnable this year, if we had better coaches. Tommy Boy screwed up. His "attention to detail" was bullshit. We were underperforming from the beginning of the season but he didn't listen or evaluate correctly. Why do they even bother watching tape if they aren't fixing the fuckups? I mean, even a football idiot like me can see that blitzes from Egypt don't work. And everyone knew our offensive playcalls. Maybe I'm not the only one who could have picked up on that? So far his bullshit has all been a lie. I hope he's figured out how to fix it. You can't be fucking friends with your subordinates. You just can't. I also expect them to let Sam audible. It's idiotic that he doesn't. O-line should be better. Offense should be on fire next year.
