  1. Happy New Year to y’all and your families! Hook’em!!!
  2. Pre-game picture of my Dad and the GOAT of College Football. 1st and Most Recent (not last) National Championship players from 1963 to 2005. Hook’em!!!
  3. My Dad, son, and I with some screen shots from pre-game. Hook’em!!!
  4. Yes - 1963 on right hand and “T” ring on left. Hook’em’!!!
  5. I was fortunate to be able to bring my Dad to the Alamo Bowl luncheon today. We had a great time and he got to meet some of this year’s Longhorn team too. Hook’em!!!
  6. Merry Christmas Surly!!! This place brings joy. Addictive and time consuming, but joy nonetheless, checking throughout at a daily pace, especially during football season. I hope that y’all find some joy and merriment during today and the rest of the holiday season. Safe travels to/from your destinations too. Merry Christmas to you and your families! Hook’em!!!
  7. LOT A (South side) about 120 spots - arrive early Hook’em!!!!
  8. There are multiple lots just to the North of the Alamo Dome that you pay to park and are a really short distance away, costs anywhere from $15-$30, the closer you get between East Houston St and the Dome the cost is >. I’ve never had a problem parking at those lots just to the North, vacant lot parking, as they are monitored at the entrance and usually have personnel monitoring the lot. The lots just outside of the Dome (East and South) I believe are reserved, but you “might” try to purchase parking if you get there a couple hours prior to KO. Just to the West and across the interstate, you’ll have to pay to park at the various hotels, will cost more, as well as a further walk. There’s a lot of stuff going on just to the North for pre-game, as well as both teams’ bands usually march/play through on their way into the stadium. This will be the 12th Alamo Bowl in a row for my son and I. Hook’em!
  9. My Dad told me around ‘96 that you’re not an alumni yet, so stop going to all the sporting stuff and get your shit together and graduate!
  10. I spent more time going to both male and female sporting events, in order to actually post my grades! I thought that was why we went to college. Hook’em!!!
  11. Refiners are still making $$$ - just saying. Hook’em!!
  12. I had a US Hist prof - best class I ever had. He was an “extra” in the ‘60 John Wayne “Alamo” and was in multiple scenes as one of the Mexicans marching in. He said that there was only about 50-75 of them, with the back line of the formation had rakes tied to their waist to create dust. After the first take or two, they rubbed brown kiwi shoe polish on their faces and changed uniforms and did it again! Outside of that knowledge, he was the best Professor I ever had, as he just talked the whole session. I can’t remember his name. Hook’em!!!
  13. Y’all are too smart Surly fans! I remember taking general studies classes for Frosh/Soph years with 200+ per class, led by a GA. Prof was there day 1 and the Finals! Circa ‘95! Hook’em!!!
  14. I think a lot of the logistics involves teams throughout the state for lodging the night prior to the game. You have to have a town that roughly half the fans participating would like decent and close proximity to the venue lodging, that so helps those book a nights stay. Just my opinion, but that leaves Jerry World or SA for that option, especially that time of the year. It’s not so much the venue, but everything considering the attendance/crowds that play into the deciding factors. Hook’em!!!
  15. Chick-Fil-A “Taco Bowl” in Tucson!!!!! Hook’em!
  16. Aggy would like to put that quote next to the Fish Tale quote from General Patton during WWII. Hook’em!
  17. Mike Leach loved beating aggy more than UT and he’s stated that over the decades, based on their “false persona” of being a military school. Only aggy, and aggy alone, believes in their “Fish Tale” of military supremacy of decades gone by. Coach Leach saw the truth and publicly put them in their place verbally, then a majority of his teams kicked their butt on the field (scoreboard) too! Hook’em!
  18. At least they’ll win the Spring Game to build morale for next year. Yes - it is maroon vs white. Hook’em!
  19. A play sheet as if it was written on a dinner napkin. Hook’em!
  20. In December 2018, the Alamo Bowl had Leach’s WSU Cougars playing Iowa State. My son and I made this sign, knowing we were going to be sitting really close to the WSU sidelines. We were hoping to get Coach Leach’s attention with the sign, but the only reaction we got was from the sideline reporter - Tom Luganbill (sp?). He just shook his head and said basically “Wow”! Hook’em!
  21. I look forward to this game every year. I served with multiple officers from the USMA, but only one, that I knew of, was a football player at the USMA. He was one of my favorite officers while I was a young enlisted guy. Fun and motivated guy, especially during the daily PT regimen. That was over 30 years ago, but still remember him. Go Army, Beat Navy! Sing 2nd Army! Hook’em!
  22. CSB - this will be my 12th Alamo Bowl in a row, since moving to SA. Over 80% of those have been great games, with either high scoring games or great come-back wins (TCU). The only two I remember not being close was Mack’s last vs Oregon and OSU’s blow out of I think CU. Hook’em!
