  1. LOL. I threw the, "So that's how it is in their family" line to my wife. Then, had to explain it. +1 for having mostly likeable teams.
  2. Tsali is pretty awesome if you kayak, mountain bike, or camp.
  3. F Good Year for ruining Magic Carpet Ride with an ad that makes no sense and has been played, nonstop, for years.
  4. I can answer any questions you might have. I lived up there for 20 years. 1. Don't plan on driving into the park/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Friday (all day) or Saturday (early). Traffic is a bitch. Conversely, leaving these areas on Sat night or any time Sunday can be just as bad. 2. Yes, at times, it may look like a giant, open-air Wal Mart, but most are extremely nice. 3. As bad as traffic is, parking is worse. Plan on either staying in a hotel close enough so that you won't need a car OR a cabin. If the latter, just leave really early in the morning to get a parking spot. I really loved the area and miss it - especially during the fall. Have fun and add any other questions you might have. p.s. The Aquarium is cool.
  5. I know it doesn't matter, but according to Sagarin, Texas is the only team in college football with a Top 10 win. Coincidentally, that win is against Sagarin's #1 team (somehow Bama). The other 9 teams in the Top 10 are undefeated, including Texas at #5.
  6. Just destroyed his ankle/leg against South Carolina. May be done w/ college.
  7. Ask the Commish. Tech prob has a pretty good RB as well.
  8. Thank you. WTF is wrong with this fucking offense?
  9. Oh God. I was at that game. Didn't Curtis Ennis also run for 300+ yds the week before or after that game?
  10. Yeah, but have you heard that Kelce and Swift are a thing? It's always some bullshit.
  11. I just love having to root for a team I abhor, then have aforementioned team look like total ass.
  12. I've put in a tape for Survivor. One of the most obvious rules is that you don't put a target on your back for the first half of the season. Once you get halfway through, folks start to think who they can beat head-to-head. That's when you act like a dick. They'll keep you around assuming others won't vote for you.
  13. I'm neither in a cool place nor doing anything cool. FIGHT!!!!! Also, I think @Rimbo stole my cat.
  14. I fully get that part of this is because I cannot stand her, but please stop with the Taylor Swift news on ESPN and other sites. Please.
  15. So get this. I started The Lodge but can't get past the beginning because the teen boy looks and acts EXACTLY like my own (future Longhorn) son. Exactly. I know it's a movie, but it's hard to watch the kid struggle w/ what happened to his mom. Hey! True nightmare material. Every father's worst fear is seeing their own kid in distress.
  16. As a lifelong Ranger fan, I have no doubt that this will happen. PTSD aside, this is fun. I was living in TN during the Ranger's run of success, so I didn't get the full impact of their success.
  17. Great. The worst person on the show is from McKinney. Survivor did its best to drum up drama in the edit leading up to tribal. I told my wife that if either of the black contestants on the yellow team get voted off tonight, I'm out. /no racist Dee and J Maya in some water competitions please. Speaking of, does anyone remember the gratuitous baby oil challenge from several years ago? It may have been one of the Rob/Amber seasons. Folks had to oil their entire bodies and do a "slip n slide" type challenge. That'd be cool to bring back.
  18. Texas 52 Kansas 23 Yards - 378
  19. Any idea about what The Sphere "show" is supposed to be? We're heading out there for Christmas. Whatever might pass for a show there may be the only thing we all agree on. All I can gather is that some AI robots do some stuff and the end is produced by Aronofsky.
  20. Why? We've had like 10 safeties signed in the last 3 classes. Why Taffe?
  21. That would make an awesome show.
  22. Speaking of drag worms. Does anyone recall the old lady that used to walk around with tree branches on the drag? Mid-90's.
  23. Super, super close to my grandfather. WWII vet, farmer, all around great guy. Supposedly the 2nd longest funeral procession in Brownwood after Gordon Wood. Anyway, he got pancreatic cancer the tail end of my senior year in HS. He fought and fought but lost the battle in November of my freshman year at TX. I had taken a Greyhound back to Brownwood the weekend in which he was supposed to pass. He continued fighting, so I borrowed my great aunt's '78 Ford pickup and hauled back to Austin for the week. I parked the truck in the Memorial Stadium parking lot - assuming that's where one parks w/o a parking pass. Got to Jester. Found out he'd passed earlier that evening. Went back to the truck. Cried a bit. Headed back to Brownwood that night. It was hard at the time; however, the most difficult part was in knowing that I was in my own world at the end of his life. I mean, senior year, then freshman year at UT. My lifelong dream. It was incredibly easy (at the time) to kind of put the situation in the back of my mind. Still bothers me to this day that I didn't take extra time just to talk to him about WWII, life, the farm, etc...
