  1. I’m a Vista refugee myself. Fuck them.
  2. Because academics are stupid and fans are irrational.
  3. I agree. While Stanford may have better history/brand power, I’d much rather watch ISU with a packed stadium. It makes for a better TV product.
  4. SFA (now a UT system school) is leaving the WAC too now. https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2024/05/24/confirmed-sfa-headed-back-to-the-southland-conference?ref=article_preview_title If Abilene Christian, Tarleton St, and UT Arlington follow their lead the Southland would have 15 members: 12 football schools and 3 non-football schools. Also of note (and only a year late) another UT system school is moving up to DII Lone Star Conference to join UT Permian Basin and UT Tyler. https://news.utdallas.edu/campus-community/comet-sports-ncaa-division-2-2023/ UT System will have 6 in NCAA Division I including 3 FBS teams with flagship in the SEC, UTSA in the American, and UTEP in CUSA; 2 in the FCS with SFA and UTRGV in the Southland; 1 in D1 non football with UTA still in the WAC (for now); and 3 in DII Lone Star Conference (one of which plays football). After a few years of building programs/facilities I could see UT Dallas (with its enrollment of 30k) moving to DI.
  5. I thought about that a while ago and while I know this won’t happen, I think a good system would be the require home and homes or 2 for 1s other than straight money for one time cupcake games (with an exception for neutral site games). Nobody in their right mind would schedule a 2 for 1 with fucking Long Island…
  6. Huge IF true
  7. Fuck OU, but they had to add that game late due to the conference move. Now in fairness, Texas found a way to add FBS teams but I can get that the timeline made it difficult. https://fbschedules.com/oklahoma-adds-maine-to-2024-football-schedule/ Now that doesn’t excuse the other SEC mouth breathers from their late season FCS cupcakes. I wish they’d forbid that practice but I’d rather they keep it around if that means we can get a 9 game conference slate in 2026.
  8. I’ll give you the arrivals and departures lanes those are shit shows. Also the passive aggressive bullshit from having ride share customers having to cross the departure lanes, go through an entire parking garage, up a level, and then across another lane to get to your ride share is idiotic. But to me that’s the worse part of the airport. There are other things that are less than ideal but ultimately I’d rather fly out of ABIA than DFW like I had to a decade ago…
  9. Long Island is not respectable at all at the FCS level. They transitioned from DII to FCS during COVID. TCU should feel ashamed. Albany is at least a semi respectable FCS school in DI/FCS for 20+ years. West Virginia is also somewhat regional so they get more slack on that one than TCU.
  10. I always thought CLEAR was for people too lazy to go through the TSA precheck process. You are already Pre Check and you pay for Clear? I like how Austin separated the Pre check line from the regular lines make getting through security much faster.
  11. I don’t fly a ton like some, but it’s rare that I’m not at ABIA at least once a month. For example I have 4 flights planned each of the next 4 months. I’m TSA pre check and haven’t had any bad experiences. What shitty experience are you referring to? The worst part about ABIA is that there are no trams or belts to get from once side to another, but since it’s not really a hub I don’t consider that a major negative (just annoying when I want food from Huts but I’m at gate 30).
  12. It possible but I doubt it. Most of the promotion is during other college football games. By being the first game of the week it doesn’t give them lots of time to promote it.
  13. Just not sure which game would be on Thanksgiving night this year. It’s a big commitment from the school and ticket holders. I think they are going to over hype the return of the Texas/aggy game this year so I don’t think they’ll move it to Thursday which wouldn’t give them that much time to pump it up, plus you know aggy is going to fundraise the shit out of it too, so limiting attendance this year is not in their best interest. So if the Egg Bowl is out, I’m not sure they’ll schedule a game that night.
  14. ESPN makes the call but takes input from the conference who’s goal is to provide as balanced of an experience across its member schools which includes having everyone participate on a national OTA game (like giving Vandy 1 per year) and games on the SECN (like giving Bama 1 per year). Not sure if that also goes into varying start times or anything more than provide some minimal level of access.
  15. That game is scheduled for that week. All SEC games were listed as Saturday while they work out the schedule. With Mississippi and Georgia schools on Fri on ABC you have these left for Saturday: UT/aggy, Iron Bowl, UF/FSU, SC/Clem, UL/UK, LSU/OU, If I were a betting man I’d think you’ll see: SECN: TN/Vandy, Ark/Mizzou ESPN: UF/FSU, SC/Clem, UL/UK ABC: LSU/OU, Iron Bowl, UT/aggy Other games in ESPN conferences of note: ACC: UVA/VT, Miami/Syracuse, UNC/NCSU (all seem like Friday ESPN or Sat ESPN2 caliber) Big12: Okie St/Colorado Friday noon on ABC UCF/Utah Fri 8pm on FOX AZ/ASU (seems like a lock for a late night Sat ESPN game) K State/Iowa St (maybe Fri 230 on ESPN) Tech/WVU and B1G games: Iowa/Neb Fri (likely 3pm on FOX) tOSU/Mich Big Noon Sat FOX Oregon/Washington (likely 230 CBS) ND/USC (highly likely NBC prime) only other noteworthy game is Pedo/MD which could go on Friday to CBS on Fri Noon on FOX but not sure how they split the rights on that last weekend with their new deal.
  16. He’s right. Fuck the Iron Bowl and whatever they call Florida/Georgia. They don’t come close.
  17. Confirmed cheaters like Alabama want to ban schools like Texas from paying legally. If they make it illegal it will stop many of our donors. While revenue sharing and true NIL will still be around, Alabama’s bag game would come back and help them level the playing field. The collectives paying cash to license and market a player’s name has always been a risky proposition because in many cases they are literally paying for nothing. That practice might be one of the first things to get banned. The collectives paying players to attend charity events and make appearances at meetings and fundraisers will never go away. Klatt is wish casting or delusional to think otherwise. I don’t see the courts ever curtailing that practice, because you NIL is literally worth what people wish to pay you.
  18. Did he intentionally take that picture where every schools flag is fully visible except for aggy who is being covered up by Texas? If so that is a masterful troll job.
  19. Actually think you’ve narrowed it too much. There is an invisible line from Pitt, WVU, and Virginia Tech where if you are East of it then you don’t truly give a shit about college football. The ONLY exception to this rule is Pedo State. That list includes: UVA, Maryland, Navy, Temple, Rutgers, Army, Buffalo, Syracuse, UConn, UMass, and Boston College.
  20. They couldn’t wait until July 2024 for the vote on 2024’s schedule. They could have waited on 2025 but again that was a political move. According to Chris Low at ESPN. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/37773646/sec-schedule-eight-games-2024
  21. IIRC correctly the vote was… Wanted 8: Bama, Aub, Ole Miss, Miss St, UK, Vandy, SC, Ark Wanted 9: aggy, Mizzou, UF, UGA, LSU, Tenn + UT, OU who didn’t get a vote until July 2024. With Alabama reportedly flipping to support the 9 games schedule and with Texas and Oklahoma having their votes counted the 9 game would have passed if it was on the docket. The SEC made a political move the extend the 8 game for a second season BEFORE UT/OU could vote to appease the members wishing to remain at 8, to see how this next season with the 12 team playoff plays out, and to try to push ESPN to pay out more money. As much as I like shitting on aggy, they were actually one of the biggest supporters of a 9 game conference schedule as they knew if Texas only had a single rival it could play annually it would be Oklahoma. Similarly Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee’s vote were based on who they would or wouldn’t play in the 9 game schedule as well.
  22. Yeah if OU or LSU or whoever don’t make the playoffs why the fuck do I care? fuck aggy
  23. Funny how much he doesn’t like Okie State and Stillwater.
  24. I think the NCAA has already been sued and won on this. But maybe there is a new way to attack it, so who knows.
