  1. She wasn’t referring to the earthquake.
  2. Brutal. https://www.fastcompany.com/91086771/6-reasons-why-tesla-is-failing-and-they-all-have-to-do-with-design
  3. This site has an ugly history of harboring bigots and somehow the line is drawn with Derka.
  4. I don’t think YouTube and Netflix are going to be the major streamers people access given a particular law in Texas.
  5. Hey, @Frank Drebin why did you change your username? Have you ever owned up to your bigoted viewpoints?
  6. The homeless problem in Austin is out of control.
  7. Camelback is much more low key. You should be good. Book a spa service early in the day and you can use the spa pool and facilities all day. Their spa is great.
  8. Since you know him, let him know you’re actively discouraging people from patronizing one of his establishments the next time you see him. Report back on his reaction.
  9. At least the temperature varies a little here and there in TX. I’m not saying it’s great, because it most definitely sucks, but there’s a smidge of variety. Which JW Marriott? Desert Ridge or Camelback Inn? I ask because Desert Ridge has a big water park and can be overrun with kids. Cool if you have kids, but not so cool if you don’t. Also, small warning, summer rates at the resorts can have a side effect of bringing out a different clientele than you see during the season. The wife and I were at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain one summer 5-6 years ago sitting by the pool when a group rolled in a cooler full of glass bottles and a boombox. The GM admitted to me that they had overshot the discounts that summer and lo and behold the next summer the rates were substantially higher.
  10. Unless your lunch secret is a corporate chain, you have to admit it’s kind of a dick move to a small business owner working on extremely thin margins.
  11. Le Jardinier is the best fine dining in Houston, IMO. It hits all the notes and the attention to detail is unmatched in the city. Even the olive oil they serve with the bread is amazing. I love taking out of towners there for dinner.
  12. Candente ribeye fajitas are fucking delicious.
  13. The monotony wears on you after three months of stifling heat. It’s the same day after day after day. I loved living in AZ and would move back (my wife might disagree), but I find the TX summers to be slightly less taxing since there’s a little bit of variety. That said, unless you’re in someplace like Montana or the PNW, summers at this point suck in the sunbelt.
  14. My wife previously had a coworker whose college aged son took a header off of one late at night on S Congress. Kid spent a couple of days in the hospital and ended up requiring tens of thousands of dollars in dental and reconstructive surgery. If I remember correctly, he also ended up having to withdraw from school and miss a semester.
  15. Left out University of Austin
  16. Timely bump. Was wondering how the new Valley residents were enjoying their new city. @NOMAAA @ShaggyBevo RIP what are your impressions of PHX now that you’ve been there for a few months?
  17. Uh oh, wait until they find out about this!
  18. Friend should change his name to Jim Bob.
