  1. Total ban on marketing and sale of e-cigarettes (broadly defined) containing “any cannabinoids, alcohol, kratom, kava, mushrooms, tianeptine, or any derivatives of those substances.”
  2. Will be about 2 hours away for a family reunion that weekend. If I can score tickets, I (and tOSU in-law) will be there.
  3. I’m down to my last few tomatoes. It’s been a pretty good year.
  4. Their friends have been on domestic cruises (and at younger ages) - no alcohol.
  5. Bad strategy. These will be among the least desirable cruises out of Galveston or South Florida. My current focus is on convincing daughter it is not a good plan.
  6. I am working on daughter. She is away for the summer as a camp counselor and I am texting her screenshots of comments here. She thinks you bastards are a hoot. Hopefully, she isn't savvy enough to google quotes and ID both Surly and Tonesky. I am developing some gravity towards one or two Campania base locations, with opportunities for day trips to Pompeii/Herculaneum and Paestum.
  7. Thanks, this validates my initial sense that IF we choose to cruise, Virgin Mediterranean seems the best option. I understand that the average passenger is older, but what about 18-21 year olds? If we do this, will there likely be young adults my kids can latch on to, or will they be hanging with geezers like their parents?
  8. You are correct that their answer to "what is your dream graduation gift vacation" likely does not include parents, but too fucking bad. As for Galveston party cruise, son would hate it and none would allow alcohol to under 21 age kids. But, thinking about the greater issue, i suspect daughter (primary driver of cruise, and likely driven by desire not to be dragged on hikes, etc. every day by dad) would be happy to spend 7-10 days in a couple of places in the Sorrento/Amalfi area, with iron clad guarantee that (1) I will not over plan, (2) many chill days will be baked in, and (3) she can opt out and go to the beach as desired.
  9. Added to the captures I am texting my daughter (currently camp counseling), who is the primary driver of “party at sea .”
  10. I don’t want to be surrounded by old people! The best part of being old ass parents is all the (now) 50 year olds we befriended when our kids were in daycare/kindergarten.
  11. Interesting. Was not even on my radar. That is exactly the purpose of my post. That, and to find out which section at Kyle Field is good to sit in.
  12. Until this (kids' graduation request) came up, the only cruise wife and I have talked about - which we still would like to do - is a barge float in France. That can be as small as 3 or 4 couples, with the possibility of the other couples including friends. Bike villages and wineries by day, and eat/drink chef prepared meals on deck in the evening.
  13. The kids have traveled a lot, both touring around (like 2 weeks in New Zealand) and hanging in one location (like a week in Paris). As mentioned above, they want to cruise....
  14. I am 67 and wife is 65 and there is a reason we have never been on a cruise. We have zero interest in a traditional cruise ship cruise. This is totally driven by what the kids want to do for their graduation gift trip. They have done lots of traveling choreographed by their parents. Now, it is their turn. They have lots of friends who have been on cruises and tell them how awesome it is.
  15. Twins. They will be 18 years and 8 months old, or 18 2/3 years old, or 18.67 years old, in June 2026. Maybe I should have gone with "almost 19."
  16. We have no cruise experience and are contemplating a family cruise in June 2026 for our kids’ HS graduation. They will be 18.67 at cruise time. Son will want speedy internet on ship, and scenery, museums, and culture at port stops. Daughter will want pool, dancing, and alcohol on ship, and shopping and adventurous foodie experiences at port stops. Mrs. T. and I want to relax and eat/drink well on ship, and are good with whatever the kids want to do in port stops. While we don’t want a party ship, we also don’t want our kids to feel like they are hanging out at a Del Webb clubhouse. My general sense is that we need a European cruise to check the most boxes, including for the kids to be able to order alcohol. My initial research points to Virgin Voyages (adult only), which has two Mediterranean cruises with workable dates. Please recommend other suitable cruise lines and/or regions. I probably need to consider some cruise lines that allow kids, but which will not feel like we are at Disney or summer camp….
  17. Got damn, those pre-revolution pistachios were fantastic. I dream of their return.

Terrific representations of new and old world.
  19. Sounds perfect. I have been encouraged by some who have made multiple trips to skip a multi-day detour to Victoria Falls on a first (or even only) trip.
  20. Noted that from your earlier post. Thanks.
  21. Have you got a place in Feville or Fordoba?
  22. This is on my Radar. Likely focused on SA (Kruger, etc.), as I have lots of distant family there - grandfather left 6 siblings there when he hopped a boat for America at about age 19. Many of their descendants later left themselves, but many remain, mostly in Capetown. Will probably be me and my, at time of trip, 18-19 year old son. We want to do it right, but not likely to the expense of Four Seasons and similar luxury. Any suggestions on specific operators, lodges, etc. for the safari portion?
  23. I expect he goes with whatever his polling tells him helps a 2028 POTUS campaign....
