  1. Well they can play the parts alright. But still, huge meh. Zero vibe.
  2. Give me love and rockets 1,000 times out of 1,000 over Janes Addiction. Vastly, vastly underrated imo. And I like Janes Addiction. So alive, no new tale to tell are great but so much of their earlier stuff is just fantastic. I’d urge anyone who isn’t familiar to go back and rediscover: 7the Dream of a Teenage Heaven: If there’s a heaven above Dog end of a day gone by Haunted when the minutes drag (absolute masterpiece) Saudade Express: Really the whole first side It could be sunshine Kundalini express All in my mind Holiday on the moon And of course their remake of Ball of Confusion. 12 inch version is best. I still put both of these albums on full play through from time to time. Love Daniel Ash’s guitar work. If you don’t know it, go listen to the Bauhaus cover of Ziggy Stardust. Holy shit. Didn’t know they were touring. Off to find a tour date now.
  3. This has to be fake. Fox didn’t really show that on their broadcast did they?
  4. I’d look at those. And so would you.
  5. Bill Clinton speaking makes sense, assuming he can still bring it. I wouldn’t let Hillary anywhere near the arena. Zero upside. Zero.
  6. I like this but 90% of maga doesn’t know what these big words mean
  7. Well that’s what it is. Always seemed kind of crazy to me that society would organize itself in such a way as housing only gets built when investors see enough return vs at least basic housing being regulated like a public utility. People that want to do better still could. And this coming from a capitalist housing developer.
  8. What no one says however is that really the only way to truly bring down housing costs is to somehow incentivize severe overbuilding that plunges us into a massive recession. Only time I’ve seen housing costs actually back up in my life was the late 80s and 07-09.
  9. Also true. But that doesn’t change the fact that all housing is really fucking expensive to build right now. Apartments I build today cost more than 2.5x apartments I was building 10 years ago. Nearly triple. And oh by the way, it doesn’t get built unless the profit is enough to attract capital. Guess what interest rates did to that? Caused less to be built. So guess what that does to prices? Zoning is certainly a part. But the biggest part is cost. Land. Labor. Materials. Fees. Capital.
  10. Fuck mandating density. Let the market absorb what it wants. Just cut the damn cost.
  11. If you really want to help housing prices, not only let them in but encourage migrants to come in to build them. Outlaw all sales taxes on all building materials in the supply chain. Force municipalities to cap building and utility fees and subsidize them with general funds. And cut all income taxes on gains on land sales to home builders and apartment developers. Treat all investments in new housing and apartments like opportunity zones. Don’t just give people money. Cut the god damn cost.
  12. Those westerly Guilds look interesting though
  13. No one just listens to Eruption without You Really Got Me after. Fail.
  14. So it’s interesting, well maybe only to me, but I use LR Baggs Anthem pickups in the acoustics I play live with. They have an under saddle pickup and a microphone in the body and you can blend between the two. What I’ve learned, which I guess shouldn’t be a shock, is that you have to start with really good sound coming out of the guitar for it to sound good mic’d and plugged in. My Larrivee 0M3 sounds fantastic as does my 2004 Taylor 810CE (trashed the stupid Taylor system for the Anthem). Those are obviously all wood guitars. I bought a cheaper Taylor 214 which is laminate. $900 factory blem which per usual you can’t see anywhere with the naked eye. Nothing in the world wrong with that guitar in terms of playability and sound, until you put it next to a guitar that “really” sounds good. I can hear the difference and you can really hear it when amplified. As a result it didn’t end up becoming the gigging beater I was hoping for. I wonder about that with the knock off guitars.
  15. Saw this as well. Where would one even get such a thing? Did he save that from the 70s?
  16. I guess I was thinking Gibson. $5700 for a basic j200 on Sweetwater.and can go up substantially from there. Maybe I’ll look at the knockoffs.
  17. For the love of God just no
  18. I love the idea of a jumbo. The cost is stupid though.
  19. Never really thought about OM style acoustics until I bought the Larrivee. Now I love it. Not as loud as my dread but more tight and punchy. Sounds fantastic plugged in. That said I do want another dread soon. Kind of want a hummingbird I think. But who knows.
  20. I specifically didn’t buy the Denali version of my truck because I didn’t want the 22s. The 20s I have seem to ride ok. But I agree on 18s.
  21. I did. Holy shit.

    Metallica

Edit: Internet says it was Armored Saint. The Arcadia was great. Saw many shows there too back in the day. Wasp. The Cult on Love tour. Hard to remember them all now.

    Yes and I don’t remember.
  24. I know this is in jest but do not do this. Asshole dad of a very good buddy of mine in elementary school didn’t like the dirtbike kid riding in the vacant land behind their house. So he strung wire across it. Dirtbike kid died and dad went to prison. True story.

Solid. Loved the bronco bowl back in the day. Saw many shows there but I missed that one. I did see them the year before at the Arcadia theater on Greenville. No ticket to show though.
