  1. Spent a week out there after Christmas. Took our dogs so we didn't go into the natl park. Stayed 15 miles north of Terlingua... hiked several miles of Terlingua creek and did the hikes in the state park that allow dogs. Stopped at seminole canyon on the way back to austin, always wanted to go there. Great trip.
  2. yeah it doesn't suck, so not getting the U2 vibes.

  4. fantastic version of the waiting...when mike campbell rips that solo. damn.
  5. It didn't feel like Sunday Didn't feel like June When he met his silent partner in that lonely corner room That over looked the marquee Of the Plaza all-adult And he was not looking for romance Just someone he could trust And it wasn't no way to carry on It wasn't no way to live But he could put up with it for a little while He was working on something big Speedball rang the night clerk Said, "Send me up a drink" The night clerk said "It's Sunday man, wait a minute Let me think There's a little place outside of town that might Still have some wine" Speedball said, "Forget it, can I have an outside line? (Chorus) It was Monday when the day maids Found the still made bed All except the pillows that lay stacked Up at the head And one said, "I know I've seen his face I wonder who he is? The other said, "Probably just another clown Working on something big"
  6. stopped in uvalde last saturday and had the green chile bacon grilled chicken sandwich. it was the best wb experience i've had in quite sometime. the last few times i've been to the mlk location in austin it has sucked.
  7. i did my first one last year. used a whole brisket and i brined for 7 days...would increase to 10 next time.
  8. mike campbell gets a ton of credit (deservedly so) but i also think benmont tench is criminally underrated. good to be king, breakdown, don't come around here no more, etc wouldn't be the songs they are without his influence. same can be said for the harmonies with howie epstein, their voices blended together so perfectly. really that's what makes them such a great band, take out any individual piece and it just isn't the same. there's a magic that happens when they're all working together. i fucking love this acoustic version of king's highway so much, better than the original version i think.
  9. recently got one myself and so far the favorites have been pork chops, salmon, chuck roast, fried chicken.
  10. greatest american rock band. saw them 10+ times and it was always amazing. their acl festival performance is definitely a favorite...the band took a break because of the rain and A LOT of people left the festival. significantly improved my spot in the crowd. speaking of stevie nicks...i always liked this song more than stop draggin my heart around.
  11. Ziggy and Maple in the Christmas spirit. Time to roll in the fresh cut grass.

  13. i've had a long running theory that there aren't actually any springsteen fans, at least none that i've ever met. they only exist on the internet.

  15. refuse to pay more than $15 for a 4/6 pack. there are A LOT of good beers readily available below that price. pinthouse is the best in town but they can get fucked with their $20 4 packs.
  16. For probably a year after it happened security was way more strict at concerts, at least in Austin. There was a metal detector wand at every entrance. That didn't last very long though.
  17. Ended up doing ryan mtn, barker dam, lost horse mine, and keys view sunset day 1. Loved lost horse. Day 2 we did black rock canyon/panorama loop and sunset at the cholla cactus garden. Day 3 was hidden valley and a trip down to the salton sea. Loved the park, reminded me a lot of big bend. It was crowded but once we got 5 minutes down the trail we rarely saw anyone. Will definitely be going back
  18. anyone have recommendations for hikes in joshua tree? have 3 full days there, i've read up on the popular hikes but figured some of you might have actually been there...
  19. I've thought about that but have never used it. It's it easy to use? faster than picking up a rental car in my experience. find one that has good reviews.
  20. Left north austin at 4:45, in Lot F by 6:00. Sound was loud af on silver lawn. Miss You and Midnight Rambler were great. Ronnie can still play, Keith not so much...they all look like death. Had a blast and saw one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Not a bad night and couldn't have asked for better November weather. Zero wait getting out of the lot.

    Arc Angels!

saw roger waters in 2000 and doyle bramhall ii was his lead guitarist. was impressed with his playing and looked into his other music after that show...ended up seeing the arc angels at the first acl fest in 2002. probably would have skipped that set had i never seen the roger waters tour.
