it still happens it's just probably not music you're into. chillwave is the first thing that comes to mind.
  4. they closed down the gravel road access a couple years ago...you used to be able to drive all the way to the trail head, now you have to start hiking from the paved road and it adds a couple of miles. the park rangers also like to act like the falls don't exist so don't expect any help from them finding the trail.
  5. oddwood is very solid. worth a visit for sure.

    Vinyl

I've got an AR XA that I dropped into a Stromberg Carlson console. It still has the original speakers and tube amp, definitely a great sound.

those snl videos are some of the most ridiculously terrible shit i've seen. like the kind of shit you would see on slavic public access.
  8. went to the first 10 years of acl fest and have no desire to go back. sxsw is my favorite week of the year but i don't really consider that a music festival in the normal sense. austin pysch fest is fun, will be interesting to see what they do this year. last year it was a bunch of individual concerts all happening on the same weekend, and i'm totally down with that.
  9. waited in line at that very tower records to purchase it at midnight the day it was released.
  10. built to spill at antone's last night. first time seeing them as a trio, the songs were fare more sparse than i'm accustomed to. doug martsch played some combination of rhythm and lead on most songs, for a few songs he never touched the lead part which was weird. the bass player was very talented, she filled in some of the guitar parts on bass...but i also felt like she rushed the tempo at times. good setlist, i would hurt a fly was killer. unfortunately no carry the zero. overall good, but needed more guitar.
  11. As I have found out, this is not always true. Depends on the Ranger working that entrance. Some will do it, some won't.
  12. Live stream happening tonight: https://www.hihowareyou.org/
  13. this is possibly the most awkward trying to be cool rock band i have ever seen.

    2019 New Music Thread

I was actually curious what you thought of the Night Beats album. It is so different. Myself, I prefer the more raw sound of the previous albums. Reminds me of when The Black Keys switched from self producing/recording in Patrick's basement to working with Dangermouse. A little too smooth in my opinion. I've only listened to it once and it didn't do much for me on first listen.

    2019 New Music Thread

new night beats and deerhunter albums out today. night beats is pretty different from their previous stuff...it's just the guitarist now and he recorded it with nashville studio musicians.

    Pink Floyd

got the deviation box set for christmas. the blu-ray has some fantastic video footage. atom heart mother live performance from hyde park with orchestra and choir is something.
  19. been to red rocks, hollywood bowl, and stubb's. red rocks is by far the best, just an amazing place. hollywood bowl was cool in a historic sense but not really that great, worth visiting once. stubb's isn't even the best venue in austin, but on a nice spring/fall evening when it's not packed and sweaty it can be a great place.
  20. the apartment complex at 183/Loyola named sixty 600, and the address is 6600. bothers me every time i drive by there.
