  1. I’m the least football aware poster on here and I was screaming holding there
  2. super weird is people who are meh about America backed Ukraine dismantling an invading Russian army? Broken brains indeed.
  3. oh that's cool - I was actually trying to put myself into a Mountain Goats headspace a bit with the vocals, but largely because my instincts are different and i'm not going to in a million years sound like John Darnielle. I still only have about one foot into Kurt Vile's discography but I like that comparison or at least being accused of having some of his vibe. Appreciate the feedback.
  4. bad way to get a nuanced understanding of what the movie is and how you might feel about it, good but not perfect way to get a general picture of if it sucks or not
  5. I love this phase of kid-dom where she is verbal but you just don't quite know what she's actually talking about half the time. Casually asking other preschool parents what their kids' names are trying to figure out who the fuck this "Pasie" character she keeps talking about might be. Anyways, for weeks she keeps talking about caterpillars. We got her the hungry hungry caterpillar and she's way into it, this must be it. They read this at school. And she's talking about how she saw a caterpillar at school, and it was scary. Ok, they must have seen a caterpillar on the playground, the teacher showed them because they are reading the book, it is black and fuzzy, everything checks out. But she just keeps going on about the caterpillar. Vivid imagination, she's fixated on the caterpillar, ok not the weirdest thing going on in my life. I picked her up from preschool yesterday and pulled off to get her fastened into her seat and she began pointing and talking about the caterpillar outside Ah. Yeah that tracks.
  6. "i'm not owned i'm not owned" i continue to insist as I slowly shrink and transform into a russian op
  7. I'm moderately comfortable doing that. This was recorded by writing down the final arrangement on a sheet of paper and then singing/playing into an iPad running garageband in the attic (except a second take on the bridge vocals to fix a vocal melody which was in my office and may have been airpods), one take guitar one take vocal and then a second vocal take to change the bridge part. Anyways what I'm trying to say is that the singing has some pitchiness, I'd probably still change the melody a bit, and there are some little parts that I'd do differently (fuckin "yand I'm falling behind" sounds like a Less Than Jake vocal). The exercise and feedback is actually really fun and helpful, I haven't written anything in like 10 years. The bridge was the first part and was supposed to be the chorus. I hated it but have come around on it a bit, I think I need a third final verse and some trailing vocals into the guitar riff part for each (or maybe not each) section, and then the kinda "high verse/trailing vocal" part would serve as the chorus throughout the song. Feedback I got from the group was helpful in coming to that idea. The idea of the song is thinking about Mathias Rust as a kid stepping into adulthood and his version of... being somebody or doing something meaningful as an adult is to fly a cessna into Red Square. That's juxtaposed with verse 1 about me graduating from college and being paralyzed on the couch all day looking at job ads and playing fallout 3, having a mini-crisis as I realize I don't have a plan and may have fucked up. haven't started the second thing at all yet and I jammed the middle finger of my fretting hand installing a fucking piece of shit car seat. It's all purple and swollen but feels better than it did yesterday so I'll run out of excuses soon.
  8. There was a hachiko movie with Richard Gere. You could do a take about a gerbil patiently waiting to be retrieved.
  9. This seems similar to the “Indian princesses/Indian guides” stuff I remember from my childhood, is it a… ok cool yes google tells me that this is still the YMCA associated program and I’d assume the branding changed because progress. Filing this away for a few years from now.
  10. I never saw this before, looks like it’s from 7 years back. I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s since she first came out but this is fairly respectable rhythm playing and I didn’t know she had that skill
  11. it's possible he picked something up off of the floor that he's not supposed to have in his mouth - I've seen this before
  12. lack of rizz leads to chronic incelship and republicanism
  13. Thanks for starting a thread to break out “a thing is happening today” from one of the years long million post mega threads that I can’t possibly keep up with. from Wake Forest - Ⓜ️🍑
  14. In addition to the inevitability of the decline of religion, the literal deal with the devils that much of the church has made has been catastrophic for its role in the community. I made a new dad friend the other day - another guy from the neighborhood who moved here from somewhere else to start a family around the same time I did. Our kids are close in age and were playing well so we exchanged numbers and have met up at the park a few more times. It is a very funny experience kinda... dude dating. I mean literally "hey can I give you my number", shit like that. I'm probably a little weird in that.. first day of kindergarten the kid in front of me in line said "Hey my name is Brian, do you want to be friends" and almost all good friendships that followed stemmed from that initial friendship. Outside of some work friendships, I can't remember times when I solicited friendship from someone who wasn't brought into a group I was already a part of. It's a thing to get comfortable with - I feel like I may be weird about that, but also... maybe not that much.
  15. Big improvement, and I think I called that burst a blowjob tan but to be clear it looks great
