  1. almost makes one want to think
  2. you never know where child trauma is going to strike
  3. so obviously we're all going to find ourselves in conversations with a "sunglass selfie in the pickup truck" guy who starts explaining this shot relative to their own hunting prowess, and I need to understand the correct way to misuse gun terminology to maximally trigger this dude. I think the gun in question actually does have a clip?
  4. Obviously not picking a nit with you but I still have a problem with people who think he was a good Christian to his family and those around him. That's not a thing. All fall short of the glory of God and all of that, but you can't simply choose which people to practice Christianity towards and then get your star. He made a career and a life out of being un-Christian and that means that he was a shitty Christian even if he was cool to his friends and family and was polite in person towards the people grew hate towards.
  5. ah fair enough, I honestly didn't follow that story very closely
  6. and again hesitating because I know that i don't want the shooter to be a real life version of the imaginary leftist bogeyman and so that's surely influencing my thoughts but there's messages carved into the ammo inside the rifle wrapped in a towel that they found in the woods? If he was leaving behind messages wouldn't he leave them at the scene? Or is this like the pork fat bullet to send muslims to hell, which once again - MAGA fever dream shit. That doesn't make sense. It also follows the Hunter laptop format of creating some physical item to assign the message to in order to make it convincing for the rubes. It said it on the rifle!
  7. once again leaning hard into the dunning kruger of my movie and video game expertise and my own bias towards what I want to be true vs what may actually be true, I'm having a hard time reconciling the guy who shoots from 200 yards and then disappears into a nondescript vehicle never to be seen again with the guy who carves political messages about "trans ideology" into his ammunition. And also just thinking about how that is exactly the kind of fever dream "they're just like us but the opposite" shit that MAGA folks imagine "leftists" would do.
  8. I have deep expertise from watching Barry and that Jackyl reboot with Newt Scamander, and I think that the trick is that you shoot somebody and run away without fucking up at all
  9. apologies for quoting into the other board but it's more appropriate. the tearing down of the wall between internet and real life is going to be the topic of a chapter on how we got here. that wall is gone, this is one of the things that Kirk was incorrect about, clearly.
  10. If Charlie Kirk was the man who you are currently saying he was, do you think that he would stand for limiting these kinds of discussions to only the facts that paint the picture he wants people to accept as truth? Or would he want to gather all the facts together in one place and let them shine in the scrutiny of light?
  11. Oh shit are they rich?
  12. Covri's post was also directly related to the conversation in that thread mischaracterizing who Kirk is and what he was about. Of course Macklemore is doing the same thing here saying that Kirk was by all accounts a nice guy, which is not factual, and of course Macklemore lacks the capacity for honest self reflection so this is pointless.
  13. you may have also caught some stray Yankees negs. Not me though, not today.
  14. it was in provo though right?
  15. if you were to quit posting altogether it would solve this problem
  16. It's all about feelings - Kirk played their feelings to get them mad about the things that were useful to him, and now "he was a Christian!" is being used to paper over everything that everyone full well remembers him saying about exactly this kind of a thing now that it has happened to him and the people who liked what he had to say when it happened to others need some help with the cognitive dissonance. He was a good Christian man. A father. A husband. By all accounts he was kind. A Christian. They are attacking you, what will you do?
  17. It’s a damn shame how successful these attacks were.
  18. Hey man, you are actually confused about this. Almost literally nobody here likes that he was murdered. I think he was a piece of shit and the world would be a better place if he had never existed but there are numerous reasons why I wish he hadn’t been murdered, some of which relate to the wrongness of murder and some of which relate to the ramifications of a shithead like him with a large following of impressionable morons who wield enormous political power being martyred. Nobody is glad he was killed [edit: I mean virtually nobody in this conversation in this thread], it’s not gaslighting. We just still think he was a piece of shit, same as we thought yesterday morning.
  19. I think it is very easy for folks to confuse expressions of “you reap what you sow” with “he got what he deserved”, when they aren’t really quite the same thing.
