  1. Seconded. Just finished. I’ve shared with some ski buddies.
  2. Wow, really? Not sure what era you refer to, but I graduated from the business school in 96 and to think close-in houses were plentiful for the $30k contingent is laughable.
  3. I graduated in 96 and everyone bitched THEN about how bad it had become. Have since lived in midwest and west coast with a 15 year DFW pit stop. Moved back here in 2020 and it’s by far the best city I’ve lived in. I agree the real estate is spendy, but to go boating on lake austin, then downtown for dinner / drinks, jog the next morning at zilker and catch the horns at DKR in a given weekend is hard to match. Curious what cities all the haters prefer ?
  4. Heading to Crested Butte with the family on Monday. TBD guys trip in February. Booked Zermatt for my 50th in March. Nice year shaping up yo!

I’m brand new to collecting and am curious how to best work through what can be overwhelming Discogs options for a given album. I’m looking for a copy of Also Sprach Zarathustra / 2001 Theme and the options are amplified because so many orchestras have performed it. Sifting through, many were replicated from CD which I understand defeats the purpose of vinyl. The Discog filters are not real helpful here, so it’s hunting and pecking just part of the fun? I’ve experienced this when looking for for everything from live jazz to best live Jane’s Addiction concert versions on Discogs, Amazon, etc. TLDR - is there a way to search for the “best” vinyl to weed out stuff sourced from CD or other substandard options?
  6. I’m shocked that WSP sold out most nights of this austin run. Not ready to go stubhub route but if anyone here winds up with extra for first or last night, lmk.
  7. Triangle of Sadness. Tons of setup before the story takes off.
  8. Was it a block off sixth street where the girls we were talking to told a car full of hoods to fuckoff when they whistled? If so, it’s been a long time, good to hear from you!
  9. I am now the owner of a new Valcourt fireplace. As mentioned unthread, research indicated the independent external air supply is key for an optimal hearth and our contractor is building in that conductor. About $6 grand all in, mitigated by doing as part of renovation. Fuck the haters, I have a quest for fire and for this to look like that.

  11. All of this. Was dead in lower bowl.

  13. *puts on tinfoil hat* Serious question, is it a concerted effort where the refs are directed towards fuckery or implicit bias the refs have ? *takes off tin foil hat*
  14. Brian Kelly has serious bitch tits
  15. Yeah, Goose is legit. Actually touring / co-headlining with Trey Anastasio Band this week and doing some collaborations across the sets. I like some of Marco Benevetos stuff. And if you want some old school classics find some mid 90s Widespread Panic live shows (before Mike Houser got sick). Also, Medeski Martin & Wood did some amazing experimental jammy jazz stuff.
  16. Yeah, I brought up the ATX freeze, but I’m not looking for emergency or primary heat source. Just something legit functional that compliments bourbon on a cold night like tonight, Christmas morning, playoff football while cooking, etc. I love the firewood smell in the house.
  17. Once heard a standup comic talking about his mistake of buying a PT Cruiser because he didn’t know they were made out of vagina repellent until after.
  18. During the ATX freeze two years ago the thing barely threw off heat and was a bitch to start and keep much going (despite different wood selections). Same for the subsequent winter days when a fire would have been bad ass. I’d say the firebox is the size of a big microwave oven. I am now doing a remodel and can see the thing has thin walls which don’t seem to retain heat. I grew up in cold parts of east coast where big stone hearths were the shit. Does a bigger fire place with thick walls equal better / easier fires and more heat? I get starting a fire is half the battle and getting steady upward heat is key. TLDR - in Texas are there benefits to investing in a larger fireplace with seemingly thicker walls ?
  19. Touché on public versus private PP adjustments, but semantics, no, as you don’t buy a company with its own cash? What happens to cash on the balance sheet relative to equity holders?
  20. Buying debt is very common. It means a buyer is agreeing to pick up known liabilities/ obligations which is synonymous with paying cash.
