  1. I wonder if and how the impeachment managers use their rebuttal time. Trump hasn’t provided any remotely cogent argument to respond to
  2. Interesting tactic to suggest trump should be arrested
  3. Great argument. The people were smart enough to pick a new administration. So it was ok for the old administration to try and stop the transfer of power. Wtf
  4. It’s genuinely sad that this guy’s argument will most likely prevail over Raskin and Neguse’s.
  5. 2 hours of this. Fuck
  6. This is the other side is obviously right and I have no cogent legal argument so I’ll ramble and suck up so as not to just concede we have no argument that doesn’t involve me lying.
  7. After years of what abouting Clinton, the right should defend this:
  8. As of Jan. 14, 44 Republicans and 16 Democrats . And of those 16 Dems, four contracted Covid after being stuck in a room on 1/6 with Republicans who refused to wear masks. https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20210114/61-member-of-congress-have-tested-positive
  9. The Republicans are projecting. Like they always do. They whine and cry and every perceived slight and are fearful of anyone who isn't perfectly polite to them. See Sarah Sanders not getting served in a restaurant, the guy whose MAGA hat was stolen, and the cop who had to wait for service at the McDonalds drive thru. After they've yelled and screamed about that stuff, they assume any Democrat who expresses fear or anger has to be overreacting as much as they always do.
  10. Maybe he’s saying that the average republican doesn’t believe you should inject bleach to stop covid spread. Of course, over 90% of them supported the republican president’s handling of covid response even after he said that.
  11. 56% of republicans believe in oanon. Only 13% believe it's not true. https://civiqs.com/reports/2020/9/2/report-americans-pessimistic-on-time-frame-for-coronavirus-recovery 49% of republicans supported trump's child separation policy. 34% opposed. https://www.lawfareblog.com/new-poll-despite-partisan-divides-immigration-americans-oppose-family-separation 56% of republicans believe Obama was born in Kenya. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-birther-myth-stuck-around-for-years-the-election-fraud-myth-might-too/ 23% of Republicans think Biden won the 2020 election. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2021/01/15/voters-reflections-on-the-2020-election/ If you don't believe these things, then you're not an "average republican."
  12. Prosecution would require proof beyond a reasonable doubt to convict. Impeachment requires the Senators to decide he shouldn't hold office again and should stop him or his successors from attempting a coup again. Or more likely, here, just puts the Senate GOP on record as being fine with treasonous behavior so long as it's being committed by Republicans.
  13. The comparison of the House brief to trump's brief is stunning. Given how many lawyers trump's gone through in the last few days, they didn't have much time to work on it. But it's a bunch of nonsense on a page and poorly written. The House brief is, unsurprisingly, very well written and damning. Of course, the people who most need to read it won't.
  14. I can't wait to "what about" every single criticism brought by the GOP of Biden. Also, absolutely shocking that a lawyer who worked with another lawyer got a government job as a lawyer. Fuck all that nepotism. Especially shocking since they are from a small mom and pop firm of 2700 lawyers and only the fourth largest in the country.
  15. I may have been wrong about that, but can't change the thread title. I'm not sure why the police were at her house, except they were responding to a domestic dispute and then they took the 9 year old with them.
  16. So much this. I take a beating on my taxes. But I'm fortunate enough to make enough money to have this problem. And while I obviously don't like paying taxes, I'm happy that I live in an area with good public schools, even though I don't have children and good public services in general. I'm sick and tired of my money going to donor states who refuse to give their citizens decent education and healthcare, while bitching about coastal states' budgets and having their own Congress critters voting to get rid of the SALT deduction. And I'm really sick of most of my federal income tax dollars going to foreign misadventures and nonsense like border walls, while the federal government can't do the basics in protecting its citizens such as a Covid relief bill or providing infrastructure and funding for a vaccination program.
  17. Oh, wait, she's 9-years-old. And handcuffed. And the police union is already defending this nonsense. They should fire the entire Rochester PD at this point. The bad apples spoiled the entire barrel a long time ago. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-pepper-spray-9-year-old-girl-rochester-n-y-n1256313
  18. Fox News and their ilk will rile up their base about the "radical left" no matter what the left the actually does. That said, this is fucking stupid. And there are a trillion things to be more concerned about than this nonsense. If we want to fake concern for California, maybe worry about their out of control Covid rate, before what its schools are named.
