I am in this picture of Preikestolen (pulpit rock) in Norway. A friend had a drone and took pics and video during our hike. I am on the mountain side of the crack, facing AWAY from the void. It was terrifying for me, as I have a debilitating fear of heights. But I had to suck it up and make the hike because I was the leader of the group.
Many people have no problem walking right up to the edge, dangling their feet off of it. In this social media age, many do ridiculous things like handstands also.
Zoom in on the top right corner of the pic. There is a little girl there, behind a teenage couple who have their back to her. She is not their child. I donβt know where her parents are. Sheβs just casually hanging out, on a 1,982 foot cliff. If that doesnβt give you the willies, nothing will.
Despite approx 300,000 visitors annually, apparently there are only 4 recorded deaths from falls there.
