  1. Yeah, having a Jew on the ticket might drive the GOP insane enough to get the media to actually notice that they're fucking nuts.
  2. I know you think you’ll be safe, but you should know that fascist leaders tend to get all of their supporters killed.
  3. If Biden steps aside it’s Harris. I really don’t know why any of y'all still think it could be anybody else. We’ve had candidates picked by democratic primaries for the last 50+ years. Throwing all the votes away to let some big donors select their own preferred candidate, when we’re in an election to save American democracy, would be an insane thing to do.
  4. Y’all could try reading the article.
  5. LEOs are shit at their jobs is a pretty well reasoned and believable answer.
  6. Trump being quiet about it is how you know it wasn't staged, man.
  7. I probably have as many posts as anyone that regularly posts in CR, so I'm obviously a politics pervert, and I had to google him when I saw that poll and had one of those "oh yeah, I think I've heard of him before but know absolutely nothing about him" reactions.
  8. I think Schiff’s senate office should be moved to the darkest part of Alaska and he should be forced to give a proxy to Katie Porter to vote when he’s not present.
  9. I have zero expectation of Joe still having the job at the end of the next term. I'm sure most people don't. I also think it should be easy to make the case to undecided voters why that doesn't matter and Joe doesn't have to be the one to make that case.
  10. This is somewhat tangential to the discussion of whether Biden should drop out, but there's a good new blog post by a political scientist discussing why vibes have shifted against Democrats. I want to note this part in particular: The vibes around the Biden debate are not actually about public opinion of Biden, they're about what establishment California Democrats and wealthy Democratic donors and the fucking owner of the New York Times think public opinion is. And I cannot emphasize this enough, those people are more divorced from public opinion than anyone any of us have ever met in our lives.
  11. I said it before, but every single person who thinks Biden is easily replaceable with a different candidate who they imagine will suddenly become much more popular also thought a few years ago that DeSantis would easily get the GOP nomination.
  12. Why do a lot of divorced men want to change the law so that women can’t divorce them?
  13. Same here. It's insane to think they're evaluating anything based on polls that couldn't look more like scams if they tried.
  14. I thought Biden was too old in 2020. I know he's too old now. But it doesn't matter. Obama 2.0 isn't on the sidelines warming up and ready to come in. None of the possible alternative candidates offer a substantially better chance of winning (all are polling just about even with Biden against Trump, well within the margin of error) and none but Harris would even want to try because starting a campaign from scratch with 3 months to go would be a nightmare. Just like in 2020, our candidate is "not Trump." Even if Biden steps aside for Harris or if the party somehow nominated and coalesced behind another ticket entirely, the candidate wouldn't be Obama 2.0, it would still be "not Trump." Biden was the acceptable old white guy in 2020 who couldn't even really get the message across then. Yes he's worse now, but not really even that much worse. His decline is being magnified and everyone is doomposting because most people wanted to believe for the past 3.5 years that there was no way that Trump could possibly get re-elected and now they're finally confronting reality. But this was always going to be a close election, just like the last one, for numerous structural and social reasons that have nothing to do with who the Democratic candidate is.
  15. Doomposting is loser shit for losers. You people seriously want to let France and the UK do a better job against fascism than the US. Pathetic.
  16. 90% of Americans have no clue who Wes Moore is.
  17. This is the most terrified and miserable man on the planet: I think that’s wonderful.
  18. Yeah, they’re worse. Japan attacked an enemy state. Trumpers will be more akin to the Nazis rounding up fellow citizens into ghettos and concentration camps.
  19. Nobody needs to hear a lecture about normal people from a libertarian tradcath.
  20. Also, for all his supposed senility, Biden going back to the progressive wishlist when things are looking down shows better political instincts than Pelosi and Schiff have ever shown. For all his problems as a candidate, Biden's theory of politics has always been way above replacement level compared to pretty much any other moderate Democrat. I've been worried that he lost that with Ron Klain gone, but it doesn't look like he has. AOC needs to be running the whole fucking party within the next 5-10 years or it deserves to be bulldozed. It's wild how bad most Dems are at understanding politics compared to her.
  21. Crossposting from the SCOTUS thread: They also leaked yesterday that they're working on a nationwide rent control proposal. If Joe's answer to all the doomer loser shit from the caucus is to just announce a huge laundry list of popular and necessary policies and reforms, I'm here for it.
  22. Biden set to announce support for major Supreme Court changes: Hell yeah. Fuck em up, Joe.
