  1. A lot more than several. PPG would be up by 3 for the season if those had been hit. We were, and will likely be, always needing the extra points those routes would provide, when hit.
  2. This has been a big story the last 3 days in the local papers running from Jupiter up to Melbourne. A few of the places were here in Vero. Something like 173 arrest warrants issued last night. Kraft had to be one of those. It's not a Palm Beach or Miami thing, its a north of there, smaller city chain thing. Crazy that he went from his mansion on Jupiter Is. to a low rent shit hole massage place. The cops had tapes of all the johns, as they have been surveilling for 2 months or more.
  3. Fuck that ancient history shit. That memory sucks something awful.

    Tax reform

I have always thought that the Amazon tax outcome is strictly legal, and don't care whether it is a result of the tax bill, or would have otherwise been the case. What I think is fairly stupid on Amazon's part, is knowing this likely result of big profits and zero or close fed taxes, they went ahead with the campaign to fleece state and local governments for their new digs. They may be getting close to Facebook level of public reaction. On the other hand, we all love hittng that prime button, so what the fuck.
  5. Notion: we are responsible for our actions and outcomes. Not compatible with Christian or Islamic doctrine. Makes Bhudism an interesting comparison, secular versions at least.
  6. Don't hold your breath. Re-read the part about an educated populace.
  7. "No direct evidence" does not preclude a shit ton of positively condemning circumstantial evidence. Troll job by Warner. Patience for the long game.
  8. Money. And votes. Which leads to money. And the votes are all about fast thinking bullshit about religion and persecution and Hitler and evil A-rabs and we gotta be on their side, period. So propping up that meme system is a good payout. None of which makes Pelosi's action other than simply pragmatic.

    Tax reform

You keep thinking everyone is as informed and thoughtful on this matter as you are. Hardly anyone is. They are processing their refund or not experience based on primal heuristics. Do I like it or do I hate it. It might well impact one or two Trumpkin's "thought" processes.
  10. The point was there are inherent reasons why there will always be teams whose results defy, positively and negatively, these types of models. And that can't be changed. The point about the close calls is not bad, imho. All the gray hair earned last season testifies to the possibility that we overachieved a bit.
  11. As an engineer I will grant that ending fossil fuel usage in 10 years does not appear remotely possible for many reasons. But the GND is a placeholder for doing all we can, give our best effort in combating climate change and reducing fossil fuel emissions. That is simply the opposite of policy to day, which has been to do as little as possible, nothing when possible. An about face is called for, and that's what this represents.
  12. But R. We're talking about the D's and their decision making.
  13. Maybe VA is the only place he could get thru as a democrat. S Ruhle yesterday said "Can we just unplug Virginia, and plug it back in, and see if that works?"
  14. Whatever the right or wrong of it, and I can sure see how she "believed" it, it is the type of stupid mistake in retrospect that opens her up to ridicule and laughter, and this is the politically damaging aspect. Her stock price is way down, and that's just the market at work. She's good at what she does, as a public intellectual, but she should let the dem race go on without her. Or, she should expect to get this message delivered to her in the primary. Tough break, perhaps. But she did it to herself. She is still an elite, doing well financially, etc. No crying in baseball.
  15. Last season aged a bunch of us, and we ended up happy. What a long, strange trip it's been.
  16. Behold the intellectual giant among us. I, sir, kneel before you.
  17. This was her test run. She goes back into the peloton.
  18. And I won't forget to put roses on your grave.
  19. I worked with grads of both McGill and Edinburgh - engineers, great ones. Latter is now a fishing buddy, go figure.
  20. Back around 2000, I had kids in HS in the UK. The pound was very strong. I'd get the tuition bill, wire the funds that day, and get a notice the next day that I owed $700 or such due to currency changes over the intervening days. Don't plan on visiting her there. You will just hemmorage money. More, that is.
  21. If I could get laid instead of... fill in the blank with any activity
