  1. It's more of a dig at the current system where you have to make a decision before your team gets to the end of the season. Missing a meaningless bowl game? Who cares. Not be able to experience a national semifinal -- or title game -- with the guys you've spent the last several years with kind of sucks.
  2. Florida has been playing football since 1911. FSU's program began in 1954. Florida was 16-2-1 in the first 19 H2H meetings. Since 1977, the Seminoles are 26-21-1 against the Gators. FSU also had that ridiculous streak of top-5 finishes under Bowden, something Florida has NEVER come close to achieving. FSU is "new money" but give me the Noles over the Gators when we're talking about who has been the better football program historically. Despite the 43-year head start for the Gators, here's an interesting look at the two programs: Both teams have three national championships -- FSU won their first title before Florida FSU has played in more bowl games, 49-48 and is 29-17-2 in bowl games (Florida is 24-24) FSU has 16 conference championships, Florida has nine FSU's career winning percentage is .679 vs Florida's .623 FSU's all-time SRS rating at College Football Reference is 10.89 vs Florida's 8.90 FSU has finished in the AP poll 34 times (will be 35 this season); Florida has 34 FSU has been ranked #1 for 72 weeks; Florida has 41 Both programs have three Heisman winners

  4. Watching this again tonight and just realized the kid playing Rusty is one of the nerds from The Big Bang Theory.
  5. Did that kill anybody? Because I’m pretty sure Tesla’s (not so) autonomous driving system did kill people.
  6. 36 for Nashville was admiring his big hit on Steel and didn’t close out on the perimeter shot on Hakkinpaa
  7. Grok not quite what Elon promised (surprise) or the stans expected. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/elon-musk-promised-an-anti-woke-chatbot-it-s-not-going-as-planned/ar-AA1lWufo
  8. That -- and he doesn't turn 16 until next month.
  9. And Evans didn't even "sign" today, right? He just said he's keeping his commitment to aggy and will sign in Feb? Lot can happen between now and then anyways.
  10. It wasn't that bad honestly other than the complete moron at the deli counter when I was trying to order a 1/3 pound of Prosciutto de Parma for the Beef Wellington. She didn't look happy when I asked for a half pound at first, then said a 1/3 would do. How did I want it sliced? The usual. The "test" slice she brought me was like a slice of deli ham. I told her that was way too thick. She wasn't pleased then went back over and sliced and sliced and sliced. I was about to ask how much she was slicing because it seemed like WAY more than 1/3 pound and then she was wrapping it up. She came back over with 0.955 pounds of prosciutto. Man, I love the stuff but I didn't need $33 worth of prosciutto this evening. I just took it and walked to the check-out line. Serenity now! Insanity later!
  11. I put off a Central Market run by 45 mins to wait around for this?
  12. You got me. Meant to head off any "why is your kid not able to drive himself to the mall" questions/comments. Backfired miserably. I deserve any and all scorn here.
  13. Every year we have a Super Bowl Watch Party at our house. In addition, we'll host various other watch parties for big sporting events as well. We've always trucked an extra big screen TV outside to facilitate watching out by the pool/outdoor sitting area. I've always been worried about wind knocking over today's thinner, lighter HD TV's. Not to mention it's a PITA to unhook the TV from our master bedroom to set up outside, along with the DirecTV box (yes, I still have DTV) and all of that. Unfortunately, our pergola doesn't have a roof, only slats, so we've never put in a permanently-mounted outdoor TV out there. I'm now kicking around the idea of getting an outdoor screen/projector setup that we can use for outdoor movie nights as well as show the Super Bowl/sporting events. A good friend recently screened Elf on a similar setup for their cul-de-sac and friends last weekend. Sounded like a neat idea. These setups range quite a bit in pricing and I haven't a clue what to look for. Basically, I'd like to be able to stream to the projector from various services or plug in iPads/Blu-Ray player/whatever. I'd like to keep this economical -- looks like some of the inflatable options on Amazon range from $75-$500 or more. Projectors run the gamut. I would guess it makes more sense to spend more on the projector than the screen but, again, what do I know?
  14. Not sure where to dump this but Variety has chosen the "Worst 20 Songs of 2023" https://variety.com/lists/worst-songs-2023/vultures-kanye-west-and-ty-dolla-sign-featuring-bump-j/
  15. Texas aggy Recruiting 2025: We paid $100M+ for this? Furk
  16. Ain't that the truth. My kiddo came home from boarding school yesterday and wanted to go to NorthPark to do little last-minute shopping/hanging out with friends. Fuck that. I told him I'd drop him off but I ain't parking or setting foot in there. (I do, however, have to go out to the Galleria tomorrow to do curbside pickup at Nordstrom. That's bad enough.)
  17. Nope. That was just 3:26 of TV stupidity. Pat McAfee said he'd put both 1-loss Bama and Georgia in over 1-loss Texas and undefeated FSU (with Travis, apparently). That's just abject stupidity. There's no way to prove either your opinion or mine but there's really been no precedent for what you think would've happened. It was all about Travis' injury. The committee said the head-to-head (Texas over Bama) was always going to matter. It said it before the final voting and it said it after. The Texas win over Bama mattered. It's 100% what got us in, just as much as the Travis injury kept the Seminoles out. No undefeated P5 conference champ had ever been excluded until FSU. And if not for a Travis injury, it wouldn't have happened this year either.
  18. So, they're real sisters AND Eskimo Sisters.
  19. Not a chance. The committee would've had no chance other than to put FSU in. Then it would come down to Bama and Texas and I *think* our win in Tuscaloosa would've been the tie-breaker. I'm thankful we didn't have to find out. But, no, FSU can't blame the ACC for this exclusion. This is 100% a direct result of their starting QB Jordan Travis getting hurt for the season and having nothing but shit-tatstic backups behind him that could barely move the ball in their last two games.
