  1. This is all going according to Elon's plan. DOGE helps break apart a weakened system and make it completely dysfunctional/dangerous. Oh, hey, I have the solution right here. Bing, bang, boom, Elon's ATC system is "bought" by the USGOVT to help "fix" a problem he partially created. Live look at Newark ATC:
  2. Spurs fan here. Can't stand OKC. Never have. Never will. The Nuggets weren't any good the last time the Spurs were so the enemy of my enemy is my friend! (Plus, I hope it helps remove some of your bad feels from the Stars series.)
  3. I heard that too. The A’s have been trying to leave Oakland for damn near 20 years. There is no parallel to the Mavericks. I say that but there’s no telling what that cunt Miriam Adelson is thinking. I can’t believe the league would let the Mavs leave Dallas.
  4. This last 20 secs of this game is gonna take an hour all told. This is what sucks about basketball.
  5. Brad Townsend is as fine a sportswriter as I've ever run across. And an all-around great guy. That was tough. He was clearly nowhere near healing enough to get back on the sideline. A guy I used to work with at the Express News covers a lot of Spurs stuff for AP still. He apparently suggested to Spurs staff they should sell that "El Jefe" t-shirt and they said they might. I'd buy one.
  6. Trump’s business conflicts ‘worst since there were slave owners in the White House’ US president has ‘terrible’ financial conflict of interest, warns former chief White House ethics lawyer https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/05/05/trumps-business-conflicts-worst-since-slave-owners/ Gotta love this lede:
  7. I don't believe Rangers had any real comebacks in the 2011 World Series. The Rangers led for most of Game 6 and were up 7-4 after seven innings. Cardinals tied it with two runs in the 9th, then scored two in the 10th to matchJosh's HR in the top of the before walking it off in the 11th when Cruz misjudged Freese's double off the wall. Game 4 of the '23 ALCS was a 10-3 drubbing of the Rangers. In Game 5, the Astros got a 3-run HR from Altuve in the top of the 9th to win 5-4. Games 6 and 7 were easy Rangers' victories. In G1 of the WS, the Rangers came back from down 5-3 in the bottom of hte 9th with Seager's HR before Adolis won it in the 11th with a dinger. That should definitely be thought of among the best comebacks in DFW playoff history but it wasn't a four-run deficit that was erased.
  8. Hmm. I think I go: Florida in 5 Carolina in 7 (this is merely a hunch and thinking Washington isn't as good as the record indicates) Vegas in 6 Dallas in 6
  9. He’s Gov LePetomaine in Blazing Saddles. They let him amuse himself with the shit that makes him happy — grifting, playing golf, bringing back Columbus Day, annexing Greenland/Canada/Panama, renaming the Gulf of Mexico and sundry other culture war bullshit — while the truly evil puppet masters do all kinds of nefarious shit.
  10. The Ticket this AM said the cunt who owns the Mavericks (Adelson) has lost a TON of money due to Dotard’s actions.
  11. Hamilton Leithauser at Kessler tonight, Waxahatchee/Wilco on Wednesday in Las Colinas. I didn't realize that Spencer Tweedy plays drums for Waxahatchee until Katie introduced him at the end of their set at High Water two weeks ago. I guess that explains this tour.
  12. Do you trust Calvin Pickard in net?
  13. Promised y'all this yesterday. Apologies for the delay. Stars’ playoff monster Mikko Rantanen has been unlocked: ‘Mikko put the team on his back’ https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6332221/2025/05/04/mikko-rantanen-stars-avalanche-nhl-playoffs-2025-game-7/
  14. Couple of interesting stats from the Colorado series. The Avs outscored the Stars 24-21. Colorado's collective +/- was +31. Dallas was -37. I'm not going to bother myself with the math but I guess you can get there when you consider the Avs got three power-play goals (really four because MacKinnon's goal on Saturday night was on a delayed call) and two shorties. The Stars scored seven PP goals so the Avs held 19-14 edge in even-strength tallies. (Most of that difference came from Colorado's 5-1 win in Game 1, which was 4-0 if you eliminate the teams' PP goals in that game. It also illustrates that +/- is an outdated, or at least severely flawed, stat.)
  15. Mansfield was my beat in the late 90's/early 00's when I was covering HS school sports. It had one 5A high school at the time. They built a new 5A high school in 2003 or 2004. I think there are 10 high schools in Mansfield ISD now. It was the fastest-growing part of the Metroplex for good while. I would consider it MAGA country for the most part. There's some money down there but a lot more working class folks than, say, Southlake.
  16. I love it. Gives me an excuse to extricate myself from my wife's family mid-afternoon after Mother's Day Brunch.

Buddy posted this as a possible leak:
  18. I will be surprised if anybody other than Florida wins the East. I thought Vegas would win the West before the playoffs started. We shall see.
  19. That covers everybody in the West. Stars and Jets both went 7 and Vegas and the Oilers went 6. Three Eastern teams only needed five to get out of the first round.
  20. Pretty good set of eight teams there.
