  1. Somebody never lived in Charlotte when they were young(er) and single looking to mingle. 😂 Just kidding I'm sure it's changed a lot since I was there in the 2000 timeframe. But back then it was a sausage fest because banking was the biggest industry so it was filled with douchy investment banker types. That and they rolled up the sidewalks at 10pm. Perfect place for folks with families though...and golfers.
  2. JT is a Longhorn, so I will always root for his success, but let's be honest, he hasn't done himself any favors since the end of the season. I get that combine studs don't always succeed in the league, but you'd have hoped he could have performed somewhere in the meaty part of TE performance curve. His combine performance was abysmal. When I was at UT my "warm-up" weight was 225, and I weighed about 150 lbs. How the hell can a guy who outweighs that by almost 100 lbs not get more than 8 reps. It's stunning really. If he wants to stay in the league he better get his shit together and start gaining strength.
  3. And I think it's based on weighing the options, reading the room and taking the path of least resistance. Life is too short to be made miserable by every perceived slight. I bet all of us can go to the kitchen right now and get fresh drinking water from our taps. That's better than 99% of the people in the world. Relax and enjoy your fortune.
  4. Point taken, but balance is key. Stay vigilant, but don't raise everything to Defcon 5. And do something about it, other than protesting. That's my biggest problem. If you see a problem take active, measured steps to try to change it. Raise your hand if you think UT is going to divest of weapons manufacturers because some students held up signs and chanted slogans? Wanna make a difference? Go to school somewhere else. I don't mean that in the sense of giving up, but rather speak with your dollars. spend your tuition money at a school that aligns with your beliefs if you need to. I have no issue with that. But protesting...lame. Bottom line, if you what change you need to change the bottom line.
  5. Ok, I can appreciate that. Now, name the last time in American history that was true?
  6. I'll take that bet. I was probably one to the horniest people on the planet until I started taking crazy pills. We're talking numerous 3-somes, larger orgies, swinging, sex for money (had a dermatologist pay me to fuck girls while he watched), you name, it other than guy-guy (nothing wrong with it, just not my thing), and I've probably done it...but I was probably masking for chemical imbalance. Now I'm on meds, and my sex drive is basically negative.
  7. I heard that...my first sexual experience was on a cruise...with my parents, mind you... after graduation (18). I was hitting on this one, shall we say endowed young lady, in a cabin with a set of twins from eastern Oregon and a dude from Hawaii when the Oregon girls started in on the chick I was trying to nail. So much so that she left crying. The Hawaiian dude chased after to comfort her, and the twins fucking raped me. I remember being scared shitless...but in retrospect that may have been the apex of my life. I know there's a double standard, but honestly, I don't feel sorry for any of these teenage boys being "raped" by their teachers. Male teachers it's a different story, but there are a couple female teachers at my HS that I would have love the sleep with.
  8. No offense, but you're being a drama queen or king. Clearing South Mall is not Tyranny. Have some fucking prospective.
  9. The reason I say governments are like organized crime, and therefore not legitimate is because for the bulk of human history we lived without borders, without government. Sometimes there were cheiftons, but rarely did the cheiftons have any real power outside their immediate presense...and often without enforcement capabilities. The worst that could happen to you is be banished by the tribe. But aside from mating purposes that really didn't mean much since you were already hunting/gathering food anyway. But then schizmogenesis started to take hold and people started forming clans. Then came warrior clans who started decimating other clans, and so on and so on... Mind you this was happening at different times in different places, but fast-forward and it lead to where we are today where people are compelled by force to obey. Don't think you should be responsible for paying for a billionaire's new sports stadium? Too bad, give us money or go to jail. Wanna smoke a plant? Nope...we don't like that...have fun in prison. I can concede that point. It's not my business. And I would never vote against it...I just personally disagree. And I think that's how it should be. For example, I'm firmly pro-choice. And in the same spirit, I would have zero problem with someone who is personally pro-life, as long as they don't force me to abide by their beliefs. I'm against it...doesn't mean I don't think others can be for it. Full disclosure, I have a very close friend who's trans. But she transitioned later in life. I was going to ask what you meant, but I think "it" was meant be "UT"....yes, that pic is 100% UT. You can tell by the building in the background...and maybe the Academy Sports logo.
  10. I'd bet my entire life savings I've read more history books than you. That's basically been my hobby since I was a kid, and I have a minor in anthropology.
  11. Yeah, I think that's a fair characterization. I left the US when Trump was elected...moved back with Biden. But support neither now.
  12. This is a fantastic a probably highly overlooked point. We GenXers lived in an entirely different world. Being male was a different experience. We boys were pretty forward, aggressive, and expectant of girls. And girls were way more self conscious. Outside the "cool clique" girls basically hung out with any guy that showed interest in them. That provided rich hunting grounds for horny guys. Today, girls have much more self-esteem...which is awesome...and I credit sports participation. Anyway, that's new territory for boys, but they're just going to have to adapt and quite blaming women and bitching online.
  13. And frankly, that's how I think it has to be. Every instance of massive, fast change in history leads to war. That's probably hyperbole, but I can't think of any examples where it's not true.
  14. See this is where you, and probably others, don't get me. This isn't the big brain argument. This is the "this is the way the world is" argument. My big brain argument is probably closer to yours, so call it submitting, or giving up, but through my study of history and philosophy, I've come to the conclusion that shit ain't gonna change so I prefer to work within the system, not against it. In my early 20's I was a pro America, pro Texas Navy man who genuinely thought I was saving the world and protecting democracy around the world. Then from my late 20's to mid-40's I was an uber liberal who thought I was saving the world through love, peace and recycling. Then Trump happened, and I realized this is all just tribal war, governments are organized crime, and I just don't have time for it anymore. I have a lot of thoughts on how things should be, but unless there is a global disaster that wipes out all governments, I don't think any of them can be put into practice.
  15. Not missing the point, just saying that I don't think it's as big of a deal as some others. It happens all the time. Is that good? No, but it's not really bad either since I maintain protests serve little purpose but to annoy other people. Nothing gets solved by people shouting at each other or holding signs. Never has, never will. So, for instance, if a cop wants to pull a climate protester out of the middle of the road so I can get home from work, I'm all for it. Selfish? Sure, but so is the protester. When you get to the point that you want to actually do something constructive to solve the problem? I got your back.
  16. Always happy to indulge in honest debate. Regarding trans, I don't think the doctors know much more than the rest of us at this point. To be clear, I'm not anti-vax or anti-doc...I simply believe not enough study has been done. Let's not forget the medical community also endorsed smoking, cocaine, heroin, lobotomies, etc., so forgive me for being a bit skeptical until the science progresses. As for immigration, I'm against mass immigration regardless of reason. This is one of my seemingly paradoxical beliefs. I don't believe any government is legitimate. Now, to be clear I'm not a Sovreign citizen type. I recognize the authority of the state exists, I just don't think it should exist. To me governments are no different than organized crime. But I digress. So, the fact that nations do exist, means that we need to take care to make sure the nation has a culture, because that's what holds them together. And while immigrants are essential to a flourishing and dynamic culture, adding too many too quickly doesn't have a great track record in history. Lol, what does that mean? Where have I ever claimed to be a macho man, whatever the hell that is. Thanks for the laugh though.
  17. Normal and legal are different animals A friend of mine got arrested and jailed for it when her parents filed charges.
  18. Sorry, already addressed...plus who am I to talk when I spent the summer fucking a 15-year-old when I was 20. We were set-up by her older sister who was dating a friend of mine. I knew we were both underage for drinking legally to we mainly hung out at the apartment she shared with the above-mentioned sister, so I assumed she was over 18. I didn't learn until a couple of days before the fall semester started and she asked if I'd drop her off at school on my way to work. Even then I assumed school meant either HS or Junior College...nope she at in 9th grade at Poteet Middle School. Whoa, wait just a minute. Was that bitch 2-timing me? We may be Eskimo bros.
  19. Wait did you just cop to being a pedo?
  20. Luckily back in grade school everyone knew I was getting action from my girlfriend in the Niagra Falls area, so I was cool.
  21. This is basically my position...but I'm a finance guy, not an essayist so my points are admittedly clunky at times.
  22. Maybe. I'm certainly open to the possibility, but it really feels like a lot of ado about nothing. But come on...I threw out a couple dozen as a number off the top of my head as filler...almost said a few dozen. Either way, out of the number of people there that isn't a ton....and as you said all charges were dropped. Have you never been arrested by a cop trying to make a point? I've been arrested several times (by several I mean 5-6) on bogus charges...most of which came while I was a student at UT, I get it, I just think it's a big nothing burger.
  23. Who are you referring to?
