  1. Overall agree, but I think we’ll be noticeably worse at the beginning of the season. Replacing 4/5 offensive line starters, including a generational left tackle, is no joke. Losing Barron and Mukuba from the secondary is brutal; I expect that unit to take a big step back. The great thing is that our schedule is very manageable yet again. On paper, trips to Columbus, Athens and Gainesville should be the only real challenges. Plenty of room to have growing pains yet still win. Go 1-2 in those games and you are in the playoffs, and it’s all about getting hot at the right time.
  2. This post is certainly a good reflection of the mass ignorance level of our society.
  3. He’s battling out there. We got a chance
  4. @South Austin wtf, did I miss the it’s Friday, assholes, thread?
  5. The AirTran connects every terminal directly to tons of LIRRs (not a subway, has luggage racks) directly into either west or east midtown Manhattan at all hours of the day, for $15. The AirTran also connects every terminal to 3 subways lines go to Manhattan. Much slower option
  6. As a 2x daily subway rider, pretty much every word of this is hyperbolic nonsense except with respect to LaGuardia. The subway is by and large frequent, fast and clean on the trains. Many of the stations are old and grimey, it is what it is. So are many of the stations in Europe. There are also a decent number of homeless people during real cold spells (like right now), but we don't have the social safety net in America to fix that in a humane way. You can take the LIRR via AirTran from any terminal at JFK directly to Penn, at which point you can take any number of NJTs directly to EWR. It's definitely not as good as the RER from CDG, but it's pretty great. But most people prefer to take a cab and have something to bitch about. This is hilarious. Won't someone think of the women and children! I need to text my wife to watch out on her way to work this morning! In any event, as someone who lives and works in the congestion zone, this is fantastic for me.
  7. Day obviously has the most pressure, followed by Franklin, and then there is a huge gap. Sark might have more pressure than Freeman just given overall program expectations, but I think the masses at Texas are pretty damn happy with the last two seasons and the state of the program, win or lose.
  8. I also was meh on cuckoo and thought trap and blink twice sucked. Loved TV Glow. Of your list, I liked em all except Heretic, which I found pretty boring even though I saw it in a packed theater around opening night. Romulus ripped
  9. Not as easily definable as music given festival and limited release schedules, but what’s everyone got so far? 1. Nickel Boys - RaMell Ross (the only 5 star movie I saw this year) 2. Red Rooms - Pascal Piante 3. The Brutalist - Brady Corbet 4. Challengers - Luca Guadagnino 5. The Beast - Bertrand Bonello 6. Anora - Sean Baker 7. Evil Does Not Exist - Ryusuke Hamaguchi 8. I Saw The TV Glow - Jane Schoenbrun 9. Longlegs - Osgood Perkins 10. First Omen - Arkasha Stevenson First Cuts: Chime (would be top 5, but less than an hour), La Chimera, madS, Haven’t seen: Sing Sing, Babygirl, A Complete Unknown
  10. Manning Fireworks - MJ Lenderman Tigers Blood - Waxahatchee huge drop off Dark Times - Vince Staples Challengers Soundtrack - Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Brat - Charlie XCX Only God Was Above Us - Vampire Weekend GNX - Kendrick Lamar
  11. Question for the tailoring experts here. My dad has a military issued London fog raincoat from his time in the navy. It’s an awesome coat and I’d love to use it, but he’s a few inches taller than me and so it wears a bit too large in the sleeves and length. Is this something that a good tailor can address?
  12. It is, in fact, legal to smoke weed in public in New York (same minimal restrictions as cigarettes). For better or worse, we aren’t a nanny state like Texas. We can get high, gamble and watch porn as much as we please.
  13. Agreed. He’s actually played really well both playoff games. Had a few what the fuck plays (missed 4th down to Golden against Clemson, INT against ASU), but overall a pretty high level of play and was absolutely nails from 5 minutes on against ASU. He might actually be the best overall QB left in the playoffs. Howard obviously has better weapons and + mobility, but he at least equally as prone to WTF games
  14. The Devil’s Bath. A real “boy that escalated quickly” opening scene followed by a slow, dreadful burn. VVitch vibes. Highly recommend for my fellow sickos
  15. With our schedule next year, it should be. Ohio St, Georgia and Florida on the road will be tough. That’s really it. A&M and OU will both be bad teams next year. I agree with your overall point that next year’s offensive line is a huge question mark.
  16. I love Sark, but the decision making in the last 35 seconds with one timeout in your pocket, a fresh set of downs, and on the fringe of your shaky kicker’s range was just baffling.
  17. You forgot: 7a: Insufferable middle aged dipshits spend 3 hours cutting themselves and flinging their own shit in the Surly Horns game thread 8. Insufferable middle aged dipshits spend the next 10 days cutting themselves and flinging their own shit in the Quinn Ewers thread
  18. That’s awesome. Seems obvious, but I’d suggest making your setting as theater-like as possible for this one, particularly with the audio. The score was tremendous.
  19. The other perspective is that giving a guy a megaphone who we know to be completely focused on his own legacy to the detriment of the UT football program (see, his behavior at the time of his exit), is not good. The second things aren’t perfect in Sark’s program, you can count on Mack Brown to do everything in his power to twist the knife. I’m fine with the one off interview. Bobby is good people and needs to make money. And I would be fine honoring Mack at half time next year (maybe with the entire 05 team) on the 20th anniversary. But anything that gives him a permanent microphone is a bad idea (again, from the program’s perspective, not a clicks perspective).
  20. It’s not a net negative for someone trying to generate revenue with engagement, but most of us aren’t viewing it from that perspective.
