  1. Relationships with the front office, and a good attitude matter. Theres plenty of vets playing overseas that are better at basketball than Tristian Thompson. Don’t be a dick, play good defense, do whatever they ask you to do, and you can play a long time in the NBA. Good for him.
  2. And unfortunately the Texans need a WR. I’ve seen a couple mocks of the Texans taking a DT in the 1st. I think Caserio has done a good job of building a viable pass rush/run defense with spare parts at DT. Best player available and all that, but they really need an OG, and a WR that isn’t a reach.
  3. How are the road conditions in Houston? We’ve been ordered to go in tomorrow, and it looks like it’ll be below freezing for 7 solid hours before I drive in. A lot of their decision making is based on what HISD and Katy ISD decide to do (terrifying). I get the feeling they thought the weather would be fine this afternoon, the weather shifted, and we’re looking at another hard freeze tonight. I know they want to get back to normal, but this seems unwise.
  4. Beryl was very unique. The eye going over Katy has to be the first time.
  5. His last couple sets have been great. The Rochester bit, and the story about how crack saved his uncle’s life.
  6. More body language bullshit speculation. https://ew.com/dave-chappelle-bowen-yang-hug-for-snl-goodbyes-year-after-awkward-photo-8777105 It was interesting that Yang didn’t appear in a single Chappelle sketch. If a cast member hates the host do they just play hooky all week? Secure cast members can probably get away with it. I wouldn’t recommend it for Emil Wakim
  7. I think Tony cleverly navigates the “he’s too mean, comedy is hard” criticisms by giving anyone and everyone a chance with the bucket. It leads to some wild interviews and some diamonds in the rough discoveries, but far too often it’s a rough 5 minutes. If your minute sucks, and you’re a bad interview, there’s nothing Tony can do with you other than make fun of the way you look and sound. Kam and Ari are the only dependable regulars right now. I like William, but his hit rate isn’t great.
  8. WTI only went down a point and half today. I think the adjustment is coming tomorrow.
  9. The Africa episodes were pretty great, but they taking way too long to get Spencer back to Montana. As others have pointed out, Season 2 should open with Spencer getting off the train in Bozeman with his long gun. I’m trying to stay positive because I need something to watch on Sunday nights, but it looks like the plot of Season 2 will be an unapologetic ripoff of the Johnson County War Mini Series.
  10. Looks good. Sheridan is willing to acknowledge the existence of Montana winters again.
  11. I don’t think they needed Yang in the cold open. JAJ did 5 seconds of Trump, and then they inexplicably have Yang do his tired George Santos impression.
  12. Monologue killed.
  13. Kate Mulgrew was a piece of ass… on Cheers.
  14. Another really cool idea that delivered. Also the Holodeck scene is pretty damn funny.
  15. I feel like shit for the bartender at Pinkerton’s. Biggest Texans fan I’ve ever met. We’re never going to win shit unless we’re at home during the playoffs.
  16. What a fucking bitch.
  17. Hutchinson needs to find a nice warm spot on the bench.
  18. Personal foul, 15 yards against Houston for Taylor Swift mental anguish.
  19. I can’t take pictures, but here goes.
  20. Yeah there’s the rub. No reason to sell the convention arena land though. I’m sure the county insisted and here we are. They should have put annual minimum improvement spends in the lease with an inflation adjustment. All parties need each other and need to get along, but the HLSR needs to throw their weight around and get what they want.
  21. Gotta defer to Spoetzl here. He’s much important than I’ll ever be. I think it would be unwise to separate Livestock Show from the Rodeo/Concerts. There is land on 288, but a shit ton of it is already committed to exhibitor trailer parking and carnival parking/RVs. Yes there’s a Carny Village. There’s also operating pump jacks out there making money. And it’s a few miles down the road. It would take a massive mass transit build out to connect the sites. They just expanded exhibitor trailing parking, They drained a little retention pond and paved it over on 288. The Astroworld site (RIP) is being used for parking currently. I think the HLSR’s current preference is improvements to NRG Stadium and Center per the county lease, and knocking down NRG Arena (lease gray area) and building a new facility. No GD idea what they’d do while the new facility is being built. The Horse Show is in the Arena. Also the Rabbit and Llama Shows. I personally like NRG Arena. The best Corral Club is there, and the auction set up is great. That said, it’s basically a giant storage facility with unpainted cement floors.
  22. A very spicy subject currently. HLSR gifting the land to the county was an all time bad decision. Basically, you don’t want Harris County as a (slum)landlord. Because many reasons.
  23. The Rujo boots look great. I don’t like the stitching on the soles so I’m having it dyed. I’ll post pictures after I get them back.
  24. I’m patiently waiting for Elko to make a good decision. Klein, Moffitt, sticking with Reed instead of pursuing a portal QB. His next bad decision should be entertaining. Looch is for sure slipping into his DM’s, so cozying to him is probably next. Elko shitfaced at Manziel’s feels inevitable.
  25. Favorite film? My brother and I watched The Voyage Home and The Undiscovered Country several thousand times growing up. The battle sequence in Undiscovered County is unparalleled in Star Trek history. The Voyage Home was such a wild premise and they pulled it off while bringing attention to whale conservation. Generations is my favorite TNG film. Obviously. I was talking about this with a coworker recently and his favorite is Khan and then First Contact.
