  1. Totally agree. I was actually surprised we didn't hear reports about his discontent prior to this.
  2. Saban changed the perception of LSU for their instate talent. They used to not even receive a second look from kids like Warrick Dunn, Ed Reed, or Marshall Faulk. Pre-Saban, Louisiana kids left the state in droves and the SEC propaganda back then was non existent. The confluence of Saban having quick success at LSU, the lack of in-state competition, and the SEC becoming a destination for high school talent has all worked towards making most Louisiana kids look towards LSU first before looking elsewhere.

  4. You ain't lying. Speaking of which, I know SI has now devolved into a bastion for clickbait articles, but I thought the 2nd of these trade options was worthwhile. I'm sure Detroit could get much more for Jerami Grant but we could hope. Trade Offer No. 2: Mavs receive: Jerami Grant Pistons receive: Reggie Bullock, Maxi Kleber, Josh Green and two future second round picks This one pretty much has the same logic as the first trade proposal, except you're swapping out Hardaway Jr.'s salary for Bullock and Kleber's salaries. Bullock has had a rough go since signing in Dallas, but if anyone could look favorably at him as a trade target right now, it might be the Pistons. https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/news/trade-talk-dallas-mavs-detroit-pistons-jerami-grant-tim-hardaway-jr
  5. Duncanville is probably the best high school team in the nation this year. They've notched big time wins against a number of national powers so far this season, including Sierra Canyon (Bronny James team), Montverde, and a few others.
  6. That Reyna kid on Alabama St played for Duncanville.
  7. I figure 12-6 will get us a top 4 or 5 seed.
  8. I watched the full serious leading up to the final season, but I just recently began a 2nd run through the show. I appreciate this show so much more than I did during the first run through. I'm currently rewatching "The Strong, Silent Type" S4E10 which has Chris' intervention. The way these guys all flip the script and make the intervention about themselves is absolutely hilarious. And I don't know why I either didn't recognize this before or remember it, but what's up with Tony and animals. Geezus Christ the way that guy can express and feel such sincere emotions for animals, but be the complete and absolute psychopath he is in every other area of his life is stunning to me. There's never been a more thoroughly fleshed out character than Tony Soprano in the history of television.
  9. And apparently Brian Jones' only insight into the program is through a Sooner. I swear some people will swallow whole any and everything someone is willing to feed them. At least chew your food next time.
  10. Our spacing seems really tight. If we could run the same actions further out it would probably open things up more, but then again we're shooting so poorly that changing our alignment doesn't mean the defense has to respect it.
  11. It was discussed early in the thread but a 3-way (or 4-way) tie changes the tie breaker rules. In that scenario the 1st tie breaker is conference record of which we currently only have 1 loss to an NFC team whereas pretty much everyone we're competing with has multiple losses in conference.
  12. We'll see. Historically, 10-8 in our league typically gets you about a 6 to 10 seed, however in 2016 both Iowa St and Baylor got top 5 seeds with a 10-8 record. Of course their SOS was within the top 15 so it helped them much more than ours would this season.
  13. I don't know that 10-8 with our nonconference schedule will get us a 4 seed, but who knows.
  14. When did UIL go to the 4 teams per district playoff model? My senior year of high school (1995) was the last year of the 2 teams per district model, but they only upped it to 3 teams the following year.
  15. I've seen 1958 a couple times, but can't find the team.
  16. The way every single one of their heads drop in almost a domino fashion absolutely kills me.
  17. I really don't understand how the fact that he's getting paid even matters in the age of NIL. Was he not going to be paid at Florida St? Or Georgia? Or any of the other schools who were chasing after him? You need to retrofit your excuse to something that's more applicable for 2021. This isn't 1990 or even 2019. He's getting paid means jackshit nowadays.
  18. Yeah it's analogous to some kids choosing a smaller private school like Austin college or Trinity University over UT or A&M. They seek the smaller, more nurturing environment. There's a lot of distractions at a big program like UT (which has probably been a factor with our struggles over the last decade). Even during the 90s and early 2000s the university of Miami's facilities were hot garbage compared to other schools, still despite this fact, the gritty, totally lacking environment appealed to a lot of talented players. Something about Jackson St obviously appeals to this kid and the idea that it's a career stunting decision is laughable. With that rationale some might argue that prior to the last 2 or 3 years, being a bluechip Olinemen and choosing to go to UT was a career stunting decision.
  19. Yep, the % of black doctors, lawyers, PhDs, and an assortment of other professions who attended HBCUs for undergrad far outpaces that of Blacks who attended predominantly white institutions for undergrad.
  20. I guess we should've spent the past 15 years conceding every recruit to the SEC with this logic.
  21. Depends on how far you wanna go back. Prior to integration, when it came to football in the south, HBCUs are where the elite talent would reside.
  22. According to kenpom they rebounded 36.8% of their missed shots which is a season % that would place them as the 17th best offensive rebounding squad in the nation. Obviously a healthy Disu would've been a big help here, but the main problem with yesterday's loss is that it's one of only 3 good opportunities to build our resume in the nonconference. I'm confident that we'll improve immensely as the season progresses, but having not watched a lot of these guys play prior to this season I'm a bit surprised at how unathletic we are. I'm really curious as to what made Carr the #1 transfer in the portal. He's essentially a poorer shooting Ramey with a bit cleaner handle and more of a willingness to try to score in the lane.
  23. Our shitty nonconference schedule is going to be a giant monkey on our back working against us getting a 3-5 seed. If we don't finish with somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 to 14 conference wins I doubt we get a 5 seed or higher. Our schedule is really garbage this year.
