  1. it's not a blood clot. The issue is a deep thigh bruise and Morris is healing very slowly. Frustrating, to be sure.
  2. Idk how true it was, but wasn't there talk of X having a broken bone in one of his hands? this is true - happened late October.
  3. Finally got to Elvis. It has been a while since I hated a movie this much. I just need to knock out The Fabelmans and I will have seen all the best pic noms. I'm still at EEAAO/Banshees/Tar.
  4. Texas is 0-2-1 all time against Syracuse. Flipping that be worthwhile.
  5. The reason he let her go was a darker version of this scene in Ratatouille. Margot saw the picture of Chef posing at the burger joint in his residence. In asking for a well made cheeseburger, she cut through all the pretension and reconnected him to what originally made him love cooking and set him on the path to being the best chef in the world. Travelling that path and being immersed in food culture ultimately corrupted his original, pure, love of cooking. He lovingly made a humble and honest dish that looked absolutely delicious - what a chef should be without all the pretentious crap that status signaling foodie culture dumps all over it. That moment softens him enough to let her go, but doesn't ultimately make him reverse course on his overall plan.
  6. no reason for concern here.
  7. Having Burke move on will hopefully help on that front. Last year was crazy and I hope White learned from the experience and will have a better handle on the locker room this year.
  8. i agree, except I thought the first 90 minutes was good and the last hour a mess. I, also, looked up Charlbi Dean after seeing the film and was stunned to find out she died (August 2022) due to complications of having her spleen removed. I'm still in on Ruben Ostlund, but I'm concerned about his trajectory. Force Majeure was one of my favorite films of the decade. I liked The Square, but thought it was a step down from FM (no shame in that though). Triangle of Sadness is another step down, in my book.

    Rodney Terry

he wasn't, and it is ridiculous to believe otherwise. Beard was the singular presence setting the tone and direction of the program. He certainly sought and obtained top assistants and was willing to delegate, but in no way, shape, or form was there any kind of "co-head coach" as far as who was in charge of the program.

    Rodney Terry

I appreciate what Terry has done in very difficult circumstances that nobody anticipated going into the season. The team has stabilized and is performing well. He deserves credit for that. He also has a team full of experienced players who have been around the block and have learned how to manage adversity. He did not build this team and he did not create the culture. He is playing the hand he is dealt and is playing it well. The skill set of stepping in to maintain something someone else built and the skill set of leading all facets of a program are very, very different. For better or for worse, Terry has not demonstrated that as the leader of a program he can be anything better than mediocre. Some guys are fantastic assistants and just aren't cut out to be fantastic head coaches. Terry appears to be that. If he isn't, he needs to prove that at a program that isn't Texas. Honestly, even if Terry would win the national championship, I wouldn't want him to be the head coach. Getting hot at the right time and guiding a team of upperclassmen to 6 wins isn't enough. I'm not naïve, and if he did manage to pull it off I'd fully expect him to get the job and I wouldn't complain. How is Texas Tech feeling about Mark Adams in Year 2? Year 1 went well enough with Beard's players and with Beard's culture still mostly instilled. One year later and things are starting to look much different. The things Beard did well - and the things that make top head coaches so valuable - are not easy to find.
  11. I legit think about that cheeseburger like twice a week.
  12. your father sounds like he had the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. No doubt he was attracted to French prostitutes named Chloe with webbed feet.
  13. Do you make outrageous claims, like you invented the question mark?
  14. I watched it last night. I have no opinion on any nomination shenanigans or subterfuge that may have happened - I don't follow that stuff. In my judgment, it was an Oscar nomination worthy performance. I'd put it above De Armas (haven't seen Fabelmans/Michelle Williams) and well behind Yeoh and Blanchett. I've certainly seen worse performances nominated The film itself was worth a watch, though overall I found it just ok. There were some high highs and the film had the potential to be excellent, but some uneven writing led to some characters devolving into tropes, which undermined the overall quality of the film. my two cents.
  15. My take on who i think should win/will win. Best Pic: EEAOT/EEAOT Best Actor: Colin Farrell/Brenden Fraser Best Actress: Cate Blanchett/Cate Blanchett (I personally think this is the biggest no brainer of all the categories) Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan/Ke Huy Quan Supporting Actress: Kerry Condon/Angela Bassett Director: The Daniels/Spielberg
  16. My personal best picture rankings: Everything, Everywhere, All at Once Banshees of Inisherin Tar Women Talking __________________________________________ All Quiet on the Western Front Triangle of Sadness Top Gun Maverick Avatar yet to see: Elvis and Fabelmans I think any of the first four films are worthy winners.
  17. I co-sign all this. Marion had/has maturity/cockiness issues and did a subpar job coaching/running his WR room. I was hoping he'd move on and was very happy to see this news. Good riddance.
