  1. I'm no Carl, but I'm no fuccboi either. I'm just fortunate to know some things every now and then.
  2. thoughts on Gabe Watson? RB transfer from D2 Sioux Falls. I hear he is on campus. https://www.dakotanewsnow.com/content/sports/Healthy-Gabe-Watson-Likely-To-Be-On-NFL-Draft-Radars-Next-Year-569966181.html
  3. They travel on Friday afternoons. They do family Friday in the late morning. It's usually a pretty lean schedule, unless the game is a night game (then there is a bunch of dead time Saturday morning/early afternoon). They usually arrive at the hotel, pick up their keys, meet for dinner then have downtime optional stuff like team movie. They get up on Saturday and eat breakfast, have the walk through in the hotel ball room (or parking lot, if the hotel is smaller), and then off their feet until the bus loads to go to the stadium. They fly/ride back right after the game, even if it means getting back to Austin at a ridiculous hour. they're about to start testing 2x/week with a 24 hour turnaround time for results, and contact tracing/quarantine for any positives. I'm not sure that travel represents a bigger risk than being in Austin. The team is certainly more confined on the road, with fewer exposures to those outside the controlled, tested, travel party.
  4. wow, what a brutal read. I knew the outlines of the story, but had never read the blow by blow. I got to meet McCombs a few times, and went to the wedding (my wife is friends with the bride). I'm glad I hadn't read this article before then, because there is no way I would have stayed composed. I smiled extra when I saw the birth announcement a week or so ago. You wish any new family well, but man, if anyone deserves happiness the rest of their life, it is him. Every time I start to imagine what that must have been like my mind just shuts down.
  5. This is true. My wife had it up and running i the same room where I was working (it started at 3:30) and I overheard large chunks of it. Yurcich did a film breakdown of the inside zone and RPO concepts. He's very high energy and passionate and seems to really have a natural bend toward teaching. My favorite part of the entire thing was when Yurcich went on a rant on how a route is something a single WR does and a pattern is when multiple WRs on the same side run complimentary routes, and how tv announcers are constantly using route and pattern interchangeably. It just came out of nowhere. Ash spent the first several minutes of his presentation making fun of Yurcich for being boring and for drawing like a 5 year old, and Herman chimed in that saying so was an insult to 5 year olds. Ash did a talk on rugby style tackling. There was a look at recruiting/hosting recruits and a sports med presentation. Yancy got on and talked about strength and conditioning (Shackelford was in the background doing a workout). Somehow it came out that Herman had been doing P90X with Michelle during the quarantine, and Yancy and the other guys kept making fun of him for it. All in all it seemed like a fun time for everyone involved.
  6. I had no idea that Krause was a freaking baseball scout who successfully lobbied Reinsdorf for the NBA GM job. Can you imagine that today? A freaking baseball scout going to be the GM of an NBA team. I love how in the doc Reinsdorf says he ran it by basketball guys in the league and everyone said it was a bad idea, but Reinsdorf didn't care because he wanted someone to build a team his way. I realize that Krause did make good moves and was fairly successful at the basketball talent identification part of the job, but holy hell what a terrible decision making process that somehow turned out sort of ok.
  7. the swine flu in 2009 started in January and a vaccine was approved by October.
  8. Mpagi's scholarship will also be freed up.
  9. I'm sure the program would love for Leitao to transfer. I just don't think he wants to transfer. Leitao is a serious student who is majoring in neuroscience and wants a career in medicine. The knock on him, from a football perspective, is that he is soft and unwilling to play through pain, with minor injuries sidelining him. I don't see him as a typical guy prioritizing playing time and wanting to transfer for those reasons. We'll see.
  10. to his credit, Cardale Jones went back to school and graduated in 2017.
  11. isn't the buyout $5 million per year remaining? That's what it was when the contract was originally signed - not sure if that changed when the extension was negotiated. The buyout owed to UT in the event Herman is lured elsewhere (if only...) is $3 million per year remaining, plus the amount owed to assistant coaches. You can see a copy of the term sheet released by the Board of Regents here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/big12/2016/12/03/texas-regents-release-term-sheet-tom-herman-28750000-over-5-years/94907810/
  12. Doug Elenz - he was a two time captain and seven time All American swimmer at UT. https://austinsportsmed.com/our-team/our-doctors-austin-sports-medicine/douglas-elenz-austin-sports-medicine.html Glad to hear McRee is having his surgery done by Dr. Elenz.
  13. not a walk on. everyone going to be fine.
  14. The Aunt works in the athletic department, not admissions.
  15. I don't think Eagles had an injury. He was sick toward the end of camp and was limited going into the spring game because of it.
  16. he's been sick, don't think he played in the spring game.
