  1. The ride out there takes a good while. I believe the N train is the one that takes you there if memory serves correct. I have not gone to see this contest, but it seems cool. Going out to Coney Island at least once is worth the trip down there.
  2. I just went to see this movie. I have only seen one of his previous films (The Grand Budapest Hotel) so this one did not really resonate with me. Sometimes that happens, but I did like the cast and the three sisters were pretty cool. Scarlett Johansson was in my 2nd favorite movie so it was nice seeing her in this. I am sure if I read up more on Anderson’s style of movie-making I might better understand this movie.
  3. Not a whole lot nearby is 1000 percent correct. What I always tell people coming here for the first time is to just stop at the Dollar General underneath the 4 train and buy snacks. Instead of spending 80 dollars on snacks inside the stadium you can spend 15-20 and bring in snacks and plastic bottle drinks. You go out to eat in Manhattan or Brooklyn or Astoria before the game.
  4. Watching Stanton at the plate is like watching the Cavaliers offense from the Mike Fratello era try to score. He is stealing money Chris Davis style this year. My mother is a lifelong Yanks fan and this is her first game since I had her here for her 70th birthday four years ago. She just has this disgusted look on her face everytime Stanton comes up.
  5. Sign that guy up to pitch for the Yanks.
  6. There is not a lot outside of Stan’s for drinkers or anyone else, but it is not a dangerous neighborhood anywhere around there. I have never had any issues walking through this part of The Bronx. One of the biggest reasons is the sheer amount of cameras in this city that see almost everything that happens.
  7. I do not really follow the draft closely, but looking through this group Tristan Vukcevic seems like the kind of player that should do better in an NBA offense than he does overseas. I would take him in the 2nd round and give him one more year to grow as a player and then bring him over. I’d love for the Lakers to take him if he is there at 47 if they keep that pick.
  8. Looks like a perfect spot for bigger dogs. Where is this at?
  9. Why not both? And whatever team takes him deserves to never make the playoffs. He is in large part responsible for a young woman dying due to gun violence. He should be facing a lengthy prison sentence, but instead he gets to get drafted tomorrow. What a country we live in. He should get booed every moment he is on stage.
  10. Aliyanah and Heiani have my mom visiting for a couple of weeks from Texas and she has been so impressed at how well they get along. Heiani is 5 months old right now (Brown one) and she has been so good for Allie. I gave my mom the bedroom and they just sleep with her all night. She loves how Heiani just comes right next to her and will lay there for hours while she sleeps. I really lucked out getting another one as sweet as Allie.
  11. I have the PBS Masterpiece App and have enjoyed it for the two years I have had it. I don’t watch any American TV anymore. PBS was awesome to me as a kid as well because we did not have cable due to living in the country. They always had interesting British shows like Benny Hill and Are You Being Served? Good memories.
  12. This is the point where if you have friends or family who bring up the name Hunter Biden you go one of two ways. 1. You tell them they are part of a cult and need serious help. 2. You don’t bother wasting your words on them because they are in a cult and it is not worth the effort of even telling them they are wrong. It will not change their thought process. This is the option you should take. Psychologists can study this and write some oddly interesting books at some point detailing the hold Trump has on these people. If you are not one of these people just don’t engage anymore with them. If neither of those work for you then just completely cut off anyone in your life that is obsessed with Hunter Biden or any of the other conspiracies the GQP cult is currently promoting. Life is way too short to spend even a moment arguing with any of these people. Let the pigs enjoy the mud and just move on past them.
  13. Probably can slot him into the Yankees rotation right now.
  14. He reminds me of Derrick Coleman in terms of his mindset not matching the athletic talent. He got paid though and he’ll continue to get paid off potential because if there is one certainty amongst coaches and GM’s in any sport it is that they almost all believe their team and organization will be the one to turn that player around. The Lakers thought they could fix Kwame Brown as just one example (Not nearly as talented in any way as Ayton, but just an example of the hubris of an organization thinking they could fix a player.) Maybe someone gets through to Ayton, but thus far it has not happened in Phoenix.
  15. I am guessing this means I will be rooting for a Purple and Gold squad with Chris Paul on it. If it means the end of any possible reason to bring the Flat Earth King to the team I am alright with that outcome.
  16. Another way of saying this is that the Nuggets are still head and shoulders above the rest of the conference. I will be shocked if Beal ever plays 60 games in a season for Phoenix. His salary should have made such a move a complete non-starter for any team that has aspirations of winning a title. That this is now a roster with no on-court leader makes this a real head-scratcher. Paul is clearly near the end, but he was able to pull that team together through his leadership. As annoying as his style of play and demeanor is, I can admit he is a really good leader.
  17. I vividly remember meeting your family. They were all so nice and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to have a good conversation with them that morning. I am completely taken aback that he is gone. Please tell your sister and brother-in-law that I am so very sorry to hear of this news and that while it is just words I am praying for them. I just cannot fathom the pain they are feeling right now. They just all seemed so happy when we crossed paths and I felt blessed to have met them. Anything you need don’t hesitate to ask.
  18. Welcome to what the Russian army has been since, well, forever. They are not the sharpest tools in the shed and I willl go so far as to call them a 3rd World army that, unfortunately, has nukes.
  19. Oh my God words are no good here. Whatever you need man let me know. If you need to talk I’ll PM you my number. Sometimes having someone to listen to you in such a grief-filled time as this can be cleansing for the soul.
  20. I want to tell you thank you and I mean it. I had not thought of this song in years, but it brought back a childhood memory of the earliest time I remember hearing it during the summer while playing basketball outdoors with some friends. They brought a stereo outside and we listened to pretty much just Garth. So thank you again for getting this song stuck on repeat all day in my head and for bringing back that memory. I’ve been walking through East Harlem singing it. Such a fun song.
  21. The Puerto Rican Day Parade seems like something most of y’all would enjoy. I needed a restful day so I went to The Met this morning. I’m sitting outside now on the steps in front of the museum and seeing the end of the parade floats. I think all of my neighbors in East Harlem are out. Such a fun and positive energy from these very proud Boricuas. One of the best weekends to come to the city for the entire year. These people make the summer in East Harlem pretty cool.
  22. As best I can tell he’s made principled stands throughout his career. This is nothing new for him. He just has an audience that is more accepting of all people.
  23. I do not have the opportunity to listen to him as often as I used to, but he always made me laugh. If there is commentary I do not enjoy I just turn the volume down, but I have never done that with Walton. Just a human being that genuinely enjoys life. People like that are awesome to be around. My mother is close to Walton’s age and she has that same personality where she just enjoys life and does not really care what anyone thinks. Great way to be.
  24. I got off the train in Amityville an hour ago and the air quality here is better, mainly because there is some circulation happening on the south shore. The city lends itself to air stagnating. I looked at the air quality index numbers and it is 231 here and it was 327 in Manhattan. Neither seem awesome obviously, but this is a little more breathable.
  25. I texted my brother and told him it reminded me of when we’d be burning leaves and wood every spring to clean up the land we grew up on in Texas.
