Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
sidis replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
my longcat thoughts on texas 2025 going in... i'm feeling optimistic for a really good team to develop over the season. that said, these number one rankings are more a combination of no one knowing wtf to expect from everyone this season because there are so few good qbs known at present...and arch. 12 draft picks cannot be overlooked. the satyanash side of me looks at the following: pointing out four starting offensive line and the tight end is not sufficient... it's a consensus all american left tackle and 6th year center...plus a millionth year tight end with incredible athleticism and instinct for steve's offense and soft spots in zone. five our of six guys across the front line makes me queasy. losing cam williams mainly means we pick up 100 yards a game in avoided false starts but the rest of them are total fucking unknown situations...and we have already lost one of them that had some meaningful playing time. lots of optimism for cruz, baker, goosby, campbell, robertson, neto, kibble, etc..., but gotta see it first. goosby is the only one of those that has really played some grown ass man football and did it well. this will also be the first time since 2022 that we do not have at least two monster 4-6 years in the program seniors playing defensive tackle in the rotation. the thing that most people under appreciate about the last two years of texas football success is that no one...and i mean NO ONE could run between the tackles on us. murphy and sweat in 23, collins and broughton in 24. we had really nice rotation guys in there as well like norton as well but those four guys were fucking incredible and played like the 24 year old men they were dominating. it's why i wanted michigan so bad in 23...because i knew we could stop them. this is the first time we won't have that in a while. we are relying on older and less talented transfers combined with incredibly talented young guys. but dt is just a position that an 18/19 year old cannot dominate like murphy, sweat, collins, and broughton did. justus is likely to be great one day and i expect him to flash, but i'm worried about the between the tackles run defense for the first time since 2022. while i have zero concerns about de, part of what created opportunities for simmons and moore last year was the middle of the line having to commit to those dts. this is my biggest concern. the other big thing is the loss of our thorpe award winning shut down guys in barron who had an absolutely incredible season last year. the way muhammad was getting abused by the playoffs last year and black's limited experience is worrisome. makuba's picks and enforcement of the middle is going to be missed as well...though i'm not as worried about safety as i am cb because i really believe in mcdonald. still pissed at our on-the-field coaching from the end of both halves of the ohio state game. some of the stupidest shit ever seen. steve's ability to do the most brilliant stuff is only matched by his boneheaded wtf moments. the surly football board koolaid cult member in me looks at the following: with moore's return, if he and simmons are healthy, i'm not trading de with anyone. two studs plus solid depth. i think if hill, lefau, spence, tyanthony, all stay healthy, this is the best lb group we have had a long ass time. i really like safety...especially if derek williams is actually able to return at full capability. add gilbeau, johnson-rubell, and two potential superstars in jonah and filsaime to a budding star in mcdonald...i think safety is going to be a strong point. i love our defense going in...but cb and dt give me satyanash/greenspoint level concern. i loved golden a whole hell of a lot but not that concerned about losing golden and bond. i think wr is going to be a strong point. young guys can make impact there and i think the incoming class is a great addition to wingo, moore, etc... i have optimism at qb. not trying to start a quinn ewers argument thread but i am hopeful that we are going to see better all-around qb play this year...but i was not the biggest fan of qe outside of a few games like michigan last year. i don't envy the bullshit that arch is going to have to put up with this year but i do believe he is going to be really good. but his success is obviously contingent on my one of my bigger concerns in oline and the complete unknown in the running game. if those two play at a high level, arch is going to go fucking crazy. the very un-surly "i don't know wtf to expect" admitting vulnerability side of me looks at the following: rb is an unknown outside of wisner obviously. just have to see what it looks like. love wisner...hoping we can help him out. losing blue in the passing game will be meaningful and we have to hope that steve can scheme some of these fish like terry to fill some of that void effectively. no idea what jordan washington is going to do...but i have a hard time seeing him being as effective as the last two years of te play from gunnar and j'tavion. we have been fucking spoiled as hell the last two years...nothing like that since the run of scaife-david thomas-jermichael. bert really shit the bed last year after an incredible October and november in 2023. praying we are materially better there this year but haven't seen it yet. don't think i'm exactly blazing new territory with any of this but just putting things down to prepare myself. the schedule has us going on the road to ohio state, georgia, and florida. worst home schedule i can remember in a while. not a single game at home in october is fucking irritating. we need to give ou a thorough ass beating in dallas. we haven't beaten them wearing orange jerseys since 20-fucking-15 when foreman shit in baker's mouth. tired of that shit. again, 12 draft picks cannot be overlooked but we have now stacked four straight stud classes and probably the thing that steve has excelled at the most since being here is leveraging the portal for 2-4 key guys a year. anyway, hook'em. can't wait to see what the answers to all the questions above yield. -
The Leopards Eating Faces and Unlubed Dildo of Consequences Thread

i agree with this. when i was reading bozo's posts...while i agree with a kernel of what he's saying...i couldn't help think of bozo's old badge of honor signature line on hornfans or shaggy or some shit where he quoted someone saying something about his "smooth talking condescension." pretty heavy dose of that here in his argument that because people are tired of arguing with delusional systems and bots on the twitter shitpile, it's our fault that stupid people are stupid as if they have zero agency or personal responsibility. -
all the rest of you, you should really knock the idiotic conspiracy shit off.

2026 midterms. in a world where americans turn rational (lol) and elect a congress not comprised of sycophantic pieces of shit with no sense of decency or self-respect, 2027 and 2028 are going to be incredibly uncomfortable.

not roman enough.

i'm not expressing admiration or anything positive about this shooter and his horrific actions... but i wish i would have thought of the name quornelius for a band before the negative association with a piece of shit.

lol, holy fuck at that chart. possibly the dumbest shit i've ever seen...i truly cannot believe anyone would be stupid enough to fall for it. chickensandwich and incredulity are in awe of biden's work as the president! it is just too bad that chickensandwich's dumbass chart shows that biden did indeed become president in 2021 in the midst of covid. you two dipshit deserve every last bit of raking you are going to get for these dumbfuck posts.

let's just start with seeing if i can bend the 15th fret of the b string to an E instead of a D#+ before I spend $350,000 on an emulation rig, mmkay?
-
it think fewer than 50% of these notes in this solo (starting at 3:55) are actually the note on the fretboard. side note: whoever is sleeping with romany must really want to bang dave. good lord...she looks like someone just put a wig on him in 1975.
-
it has given me a new understanding and appreciation for the gilmour "crying" solos. also, i have become a master of bending the 15th fret of the b string to a D# plus 10 cents trying to achieve an E. 🙄 i'm gonna have to get 9's on my strat.
-
while not as silly as posting the beatles, this one kind of stretches the concept too. that is an objectively high quality pop song...extremely well made and extremely musical. whenever someone asks about this...i always think of one more try by george michael.
-
i asked @Goredho to help me learn to play the electric part of the "scattered" solo that starts at 4:38 below because it seems achievable based on tempo and key. when i first started playing it and was just hunting down the notes, goredho was like "yeah that's not even close to right because he's not playing those notes on the fretboard, he's bending those two semitone jumps. for example, the beginning phrase of b-d-e, i was playing on the e string instead of the b string and bending the d. of course goredho was right but watching this video finally, it, was so much more than even i realized. my left hand fingers are going to be three times stronger by the time i get this right.

thanks, fellas. yeah jimmy, the fmaj to amaj was a "unusual" but i loved the way it sounded back and forth and how unsettling it was. was just playing it back and forth on the piano on a rainy day and i was doing descending arps trying to find something and the a major over the f sounded rather pretty but obvious...and i wasn't going for that. i then did the e-c#-right to c over the inverted f of the main melodic motif and was immediately struck with the unsettling feel (i knew i was on to something when my wife yelled from the other room "ugh, don't play that again"). i felt like it would work well as a thematic tune for a psych thriller type show...something like a "severance." the other thing about the constant back and forth between the fmaj and amaj was what it did to the g and dmin chords. it made them feel so incredibly resolving in a cinematic way. i thought of this as a scoring "suite" off which different themes could be potentially developed for a movie/show for different characters/settings/etc... it is part of why the chords are screaming for a Bb min as part of the resolution but i don't give in...saving that for the prestige on some twist if you will. anyway, just a bit of fun. as a side note, i am doing a masterclass with alan meyerson on mixing in dolby atmos/immersive in november and i am thinking this would be a fun track to do as my project. i struggled with mixing it and am still not satisfied with how cluttered it feels in the heavy parts in the middle. feels like a good candidate for exploring the spatial audio elements to get the soundstage clarified on it.

Great time, had a blast. Thanks to @wild_turkey for the planning assist. Only thing I’d change is to leave the kiddos behind next time. Would definitely recommend Cheval Blanc as a spot to stay.

your confusion stems from the regime they are referring to not being the nation of israel...but instead the political regime led by n'yahu and his wing of extremists. the way you are interpreting it would be the same as interpreting me saying "i want to end the regime of corruption and incompetence led by donald trump from power in the united states" as "i want to end the existence of the united states and mexico should be in charge."
