  1. Steve Sarkisian wasn’t an unknown - when Texas hired him he was the same age as Jedd Fisch is now and already had 7 years of HC experience at two big time programs. He had 8 years experience working under Pete Carroll and 3 years working with Nick Saban. He played a prominent role on 2 national championship coaching staffs and had won a Broyles award as the best assistant coach in college football. Jedd Fisch won 8 games at Arizona.
  2. Gerry (IT) reporting that 5-star Safety Xavier Filsaime and his father were on campus today. Gerry said they are not ruling out another visit before Dec 20 signing day. https://247sports.com/player/xavier-filsaime-46103308/
  3. His resume as OC: Minnesota 2009 - 111th in the country in scoring Miami 2011 - 64th Miami 2012 - 49th Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 - 32nd of 32 teams in scoring UCLA 2017 - 37th He had two 'successful' years as an OC. Only lasted more than one season in one job - Miami.
  4. Sanders didn’t RS. He played special teams as a freshman.
  5. I think most kids response is going to be ‘what the fuck is a Jedd Fisch?’ He’s not exactly a name - and neither are any of his current assistants. Interested to see if just keeping Robinson around is enough to keep the roster/class together.
  6. Vea is a good comp - I think Haloti Ngata is another one. Both were early first round picks - I don’t expect Sweat to go that high - but I’ll be interested to see if he tests out on par with those two.
  7. So then its not going to be Lincoln Riley, or DeBoer, or Lanning, or even Jonathan Smith, and probably not even Mike Elko. This sounds like a G5 type of contract. Not G5, but Jedd Fisch is making less than 3 million a year as Arizona's coach - so maybe he's still a candidate with Jeff Traylor.
  8. I know they’re not draft analysts - but Gerry/Bobby (IT) have both been down on Sanders draft prospects. Bobby thinks his blocking issues are going to drop him and Gerry thinks blocking and short arms are going to give NFL teams pause. Neither are saying he comes back - but they both think his draft grade is going to be lower than he’s hoping and that a year back could improve his stock.
  9. Bobby said on the livestream last night that Lincoln had already thrown himself in as a candidate for the aggy job. Rod Babers suggested that if Lincoln wanted to leave USC he should go collect millions from the NFL first, and then return to take whatever college job he wanted when/if he failed in the league.
  10. They have one win against a team with a winning record (Kansas).
  11. Per Justin Wells (IT): Kobe Black announcing on Nov 29th. https://247sports.com/player/kobe-black-46097514/
  12. I think he’s very good at hiring staff and knows exactly the type of players he wants/needs to play his type of football.
  13. I especially like the part about Looch receiving calls from all over the country from very important people expressing how proud they were after Elijah Robinson’s first press conference.
  14. I have a hard time seeing Traylor take the job if the coaching staff is dictated to him and I can’t believe Elko would keep Durkin on if he takes the job. So really I don’t see any way Durkin stays. But maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
  15. Justin Wells had an update on prospects and flips - this blurb is regarding Kobe Black: Are portal candidates considered 'prospects'?.
  16. Yes - Nahlin had an article today saying that a well known draft guy he talked with (guessing Matt Miller) has a Day 2 grade on Murphy. If Murphy is rated that high I’d have a tough time seeing him come back. 3rd round is still good money - including a million dollar signing bonus.
  17. I assume with an Elko hire the majority of the defensive staff will be kept - that should help keep some of the defensive recruits. Interested to see what will happen with the offensive side of the ball. Do they go for someone like Broyles award nominee and Texas native Will Stein? I'd imagine most of the offensive guys are familiar or were recruited by him. What other 'big' offensive recruiter names are out there this cycle?
  18. The timing was they had to do this before Jimbo did a Les Miles and forced them to keep him at least into next season. But I agree they were probably operating under the assumption they can hire Elko or Traylor at any point when they run out of wish list candidates.
  19. CB grades for Texas & Oklahoma St this season from PFF:
  20. I don't think there was any doubt about that. This whole process is happening because Texas is coming into the SEC with all of the momentum - and aggy is going to try to do everything in there power to stop it. The worst thing that could happen, in their minds, is to lose that game in Kyle Field next year.
  21. Quinn's biggest improvement from 2022 to 2023 is in the intermediate (10-20 yards). He went from a 50% passer in the intermediate in 2022 to over seventy (71.4%) in 2023. Deep balls he has almost the same completion percentage (30.8 completion in 2022 - 33.3 in 2023). He's actually completing fewer "Big Time Throws" (what PFF calls 'NFL type' throws deeper and into tighter windows)in 2023. 8 this season compared to 19 last year. Part of that is Quinn taking fewer risks and completing the check-downs. 2023: 2022:
  22. Regarding DeBoer - saw someone on twitter pointing out what a shitty recruiter he is even within the state of Washington. The Huskies don't have any commits from the top 25 in the state of Washington.
