@Anastasis has ridiculed the death penalty as barbaric. I’d bet he is anti-war, too. But, he (assuming I understood his motivations) is certainly faced with real life conflicts between his political affiliation and his reverence of life, which go beyond Republican war hawks, national security and soft-on-crime demagoguery.
It must be difficult to argue that sanctity of life demands a rape victim carry the rapist’s child, for example, yet voting for a political party that enacts such laws has to cause dissonance.
Based on when and what he contributes, I think it fair to say his single issue vote is willing to abandon this Republic’s freedom of religion and Rule of Law. Continued support for Republicans, today, begs a rebuttal as to the contrary.
I find it strange that religions are not allowed the right to change, or be wrong. To have a new perspective. Certainly, the Abrahamic God is described as changing His relationship with Man. We put almost total faith in science, with its built in unless-facts-prove-otherwise clause. Is any religion free of man’s failings?
