  1. Really appreciate the feedback on Nike apparel. One final question. Nike re: Texas shirts, like polos, puts the Nike logo on the right breast and the Texas logo on the left breast. Not all shirts but most. Do you like that?
  2. Oh good grief, no one is saying Sark is headed to the NFL. Athletic Directors and Boards of Regents have to plan for scenarios even if they are only remotely possible. They did a few years ago. Nowhere in the last two pages did anyone say he was leaving for the NFL. The whole point was that Traylor was given a heads up a few years ago that he might be in play for one of the bigger jobs down the line, so working hard to beat those teams is pretty important to him. That’s it. That’s the only point. The reading comprehension on the last page is ridiculous. Jesus. I feel like I’m conversing with a bunch of ADHD teenagers.
  3. The best part of this post was the use of the term gormlessly.
  4. I can tell you for a fact, and Sydney has already posted it above, that Traylor used to be under consideration. You then misread my entire post and mistakenly thought we were saying that Texas would still hire him today, which obviously they probably wouldn’t. Then, when I pointed out that you misread the post, you now doubled down on making a point that has nothing to do with what was originally posted, as if somehow you didn’t misread the post. Excellent job. Congratulations. Well done.
  5. Thoughts in general on the Nike line of shirts and clothing for Texas? Getting better, worse, the same? Also highlight whether you are old, young, or middle aged.
  6. I think you need to read the post just above yours. This isn’t me saying this, it’s what Texas at one time was considering. Fast forward to today and I think we all would believe that Texas would go a different direction, but Traylor in his own mind is still waiting around hoping to get a shot. So maybe you should be the one to get a grip.
  7. Dammit! About a week ago I told my wife that Sanchez had no business playing in the Astros outfield. He’s terrible. But it’s okay. The manager has addressed the issue by moving players around ten different positions all the time.
  8. In case Sark heads to the NFL. He was too inexperienced before. It was discussed here on Surly that he would be considered the next time around.
  9. I'm sick of this manager. The latest issue with him is the number of double plays this team hits into. They're terrible. 2nd worst in MLB.
  10. Oh no, lawyer talk. With the number of lawyers on this site, I fear the site might be overwhelmed. Immamac better start the backup generators to power the internet tubes.
  11. I don’t think they go solely man to man. Teams these days mix coverages.
  12. The rapid highs and lows of golf are just unbelievable. As a 12 handicap headed to 10, I’ve been starting to really have some good swings, shots, and rounds. However, in the blink of an eye a round can go south fast. I played this week and had three birdies within 5 holes. It was unbelievable. I started getting visions of posting my best round ever (<75). Then my swing slowly melted away, with me unable to hit even my best irons, the wedges. I staggered to a 39 on the front, and then just broke down completely after that, with an ugly 48 on the back. How can a person hit so well, and then so poorly, within the span of about 90 minutes? Golf is an amazing, and amazingly frustrating, game.
  13. With Traylor patiently waiting for Texas or the A&M job to open, I bet he has his guys ready to play. Probably not enough talent to beat A&M, but I sure wouldn’t want to bet on A&M for that game.
  14. There is a reason they brought in Akina. They want to run more man to man. They have very good CB’s, and as Saban himself said about a year ago, championship teams must be able to regularly line ip and play man.
  15. With Akina coaching the secondary, I would think we would see some pretty big differences. He likes to play more man-to-man in general, and Texas has a lot of talent at CB this year. They should defend the pass really well, but I guess because of scheme updates they could bust a few assignments too.
  16. A few of the Surly posters are aware I have a second hand connection to Robertson, so occasionally I get some interesting tidbits. In my opinion this OL is not national championship quality, even before the injuries. That does not mean they can’t win the national championship, just that it isn’t as strong as other teams and other years’ past. The line does have some decent height, which is good. The line can be good enough to win the title, but we aren’t going to see 2005, where Vince had enough time to make some sandwiches. Arch being more mobile will be the way they scheme for the OL limitations and I think it will be glorious after watching self-sacking Quinn. On the topic of Cruz, him not passing Robertson yet is more Robertson than Cruz. Robertson is hanging in there, is smart, is working, and believes he can be starter quality. In my opinion, there are some physical limitations, but all those other things help a lot, especially at center, where you can deal better with physical limitations.
  17. That’s was really entertaining. It’s great to be a Longhorn right now.
  18. I think you’re right about a lot of this. I happen to be in that small minority that does actually care about fiscal responsibility so it clouds my thoughts on messaging. Whatever messaging they settle on should at least be hammered hard over and over like the Republicans do. They haven’t even been doing that. There is no common messaging.
  19. That's pretty good. Why in the world didn't the entire Democrat machine immediately do a blitz of Big Beautiful Betrayal on news shows, social media, etc. They could have accompanied this nice, tight slogan with the specific examples of how Americans are being hurt by it, and they could also be pointing out bs policies like the sunsetting of policies like the senior citizen extra deductions. Here's a radical idea, that I admit is half-baked and not fully thought thru. Since the Republicans abandoned their entire mantra of "less government" in favor of "my government that tells you what to do", why can't the Democrats not only call that out more often, but also better embrace "fiscal responsbility", rather than hiding from it? I know many in the party want to spend a lot more and tax a lot more, but that is what scares a lot of potential voters. Democrats end up closing the gap on previous Republican deficits anyway, so start really focusing on the proper combination of spendingr and taxation as the proper path to fiscal responsibility. If they did that, then they could really blow up the Big Beautiful Betrayal and show Americans how damaging it really is, and lay the foundation for good mid-term elections. As it stands right now, the mid-terms won't be helpful at all and we will be stuck for two more years (or a lifetime?) with this dictatorship.
  20. definition: Decorum - how to lose elections in a world full of idiots.
  21. Why haven’t the Democrats come up with a derogatory catchy name for the Big Beautiful Bill to counter the Trump bullshit?
  22. I look forward to his Christmas commercials for Yak, regurgitated Yak milk.
  23. Wait. He also plays guitar? Wow. He will set the single season yardage record at Texas.
  24. And they’re running out of Finleys!
