  1. It would be nice to see the hundreds of thousands of people of color who have been equally victimized by prosecutors similarly benefit. Unfortunately they'll just get told by judges that the error was harmless and to kindly go fuck themselves.
  2. They’d still have to add him to the 40-man roster though right?
  3. Unfortunately that new normal is why we’re going to have a work stoppage in two years.
  4. Nope. Nor is it unfair to question a judicial nominee about his ability to do so.
  5. The only accusation of racism was in Parliament’s fever dream.
  6. And you think it’s unreasonable to ask a nominee who belongs to a group that discriminates on the bases of sex and religion whether he believes membership in that group violates that canon?
  7. I’m not sure how many chefs would want to do back to back seasons. Long time away from home and family and business. And prevents them from pouncing on any immediate opportunities that arise from having been on Top Chef.

  9. Where did she say she doesn't want them for federal judges? Or that they are racist or homophobic or bigots? She asked a number of questions regarding how, as a judge, he would approach issues where the Knights of Columbus have expressed a position, particularly in regards to same-sex marriage and reproductive rights, two issues where the Knights of Columbus have taken positions that are contrary to the law. Which of her questions exactly do you find unreasonable?
  10. Service is a weird deal for restaurant wars. Good waiters have real jobs they can’t just ditch for a day. The waiters also have no real incentives when it doesn’t seem like there’s any gratuity and it’s a one-off gig so they can’t get fired.
  11. Publicly announcing that your client is guilty is an interesting legal strategy.
  12. 5. Searching 4. Anna and the Apocalypse 3. Won't You Be My Neighbor? 2. Black Panther 1. A Star is Born
  13. That’s a postseason ranking, not a preseason one.
  14. Bale will definitely be nominated and could certainly win (I’d give Cooper slightly better odds, but that’s it). There is very little chance Carrell is nominated and virtually zero chance he wins. Rockwell is more likely, as is Amy Adams.
  15. Despite Bale’s phenomenal performance, this movie was not good. I loved The Big Short but Vice was like if you did The Big Short as a biopic of Lewis Ranieri and James Cayne.
  16. You don’t think Duke students go home for the holidays? Kansas is a bit unique in that even when they go home, home is only 30-45 minutes from campus for most of the students.
  17. Yeah, they didn't get fleeced in the sense that the trade was imbalanced. Their return is much better than what they gave up. The return just isn't useful to their current situation unless their plan is to flip Puig, Wood, and Kemp during the season for prospects.
  18. I have no idea what the Reds are doing. Great trade for them if their long-term goal is to win 75 games next year.
  19. It’s 100% accurate, both in Survivor and in society, that women are held to a different standard and are often hated for behavior for which men are not only hated but sometimes even praised. I think Chrissy is a probably a recent example on the show. And Nick, if a woman, would have been mocked for being dramatic and/or a whiner for his comments about being blindsided a couple of times. Fortunately, this was not why Angelina was so hated - by the audience or her cast mates. Her problem was not that she was strong or opinionated or cunning. Her problem was that she tried really hard to be all of those things, was spectacularly bad at all of them, and yet lacked self-awareness such that she thought she was absolutely crushing it.
  20. Little Big League is the most underrated baseball movie by a wide margin
