Negative Recruiting Your Own School: The aggy Screenshot Megathread
"Howdy! I'm a writer!" Dedication? How about getting your body ready for an SEC schedule when you're in the Big 12? Huh? How about that? I suppose SEC membership was retroactive and the sacred conference patches will be photoshopped into old pictures. Who is this Chris Harrington, all Big 12 guy? Game changer! I must have been in a coma to not recall the storied career. Let's check into it, shall we? Impressive! Let's see how many games he must have changed. Solid! Average record for A&M in the storied Francione years: 8-5. Take off the Aggie tradition of losing their bowl games, and, what do you know? 8-4. Caneck! Caneck! Caneck! I remember Appel. Evidently nobody else does. Here's his bio from his teaching kids to run gig: Where's the Aggie pride? Another All Big 12 player! Let's check out the wiki! Aggies like to play a little loose with the all conference resume. Whither the honor code? I guess that's why he trains little kids and these guys who give testimonials: Lookout peewee football! The rest is the usual. Now for the insight that only a second team all conference player on an 8-4 team can provide: 1 Of course. 2 Elko knows his system. He's going to practices, understanding players, and using all that. He's blowing whistles and chewing guys out. He sweating a lot! He sees the whole defense! All of it. Every smidgen. You don't see that much nowadays. I'm excited!!!!! 3 Joke writes itself. I'm not sure that we chalk this level of clarity up to dreamy Brauny or Mr. Second Team All Conference Mr. Florida Tusker: Getting the team all gel-ified together as a whole totality and execute [sic] leads to maybe seeing [future possible] something somewhere that may have been [past sorta perfect] something somewhere else. College men.

They try so hard to overplay their hand, and they still win. Stunning.

Oppenheimer (Nolan)
@henrygandorf good point. But the movies aren't helping.

Those are an interesting trio to compare and contrast. I haven't seen Open Your Eyes, but I will now.

It took me a moment to see that Uncle Sam was not...er...aroused. Wardrobel malfunction. I feel dirty now.

Oppenheimer (Nolan)
Books provide starting points not boundaries for movie making. This is a great discussion. Perhaps I needed some of the exposition because I don't recall feeling oppressed by it in the movies being discussed. I'm usually pretty sensitive to it. It often can be traced back to the studio execs, I believe, who haven't a clue about storytelling and fear the audience are all dunces. Oppenheimer was a horrific bore that I thought would never end. I recall almost nothing about it other than thinking they marketed this rather brilliantly as something we're supposed to like. Of all the movies mentioned, to me it's the only failure. It's bloated. Nobody gets through an entire career directing without misfires. Kubrick almost did, but Eyes Wide Shut is, to me, a disaster. Nolan tackles interesting ideas. I think that's why we are talking about him. He gets to make movies of a scale that usually only present absolute vacuity. His Dark Night is the star of all the tiresome superhero movies. Ledger is unforgettable and part of it is the writing and direction of that role. I'm almost grateful to Nolan for providing big Hollywood pictures that are both entertaining and possessed of depth should anyone choose to explore it. Those are the best kinds of movies to me. Movies are better if they're about more than they're about.

Optimism sprouts up everywhere as the season nears. Most fans: I think we might be better than I thought. I think we'll have a good team. Aggies: The culture is changed. Practices are going awesome. We're going to win it all!

A person rich and largely untouchable grows accustomed to getting what they want. They have the freedom to choose their moral code. For women, you can easily attract the Melanias of the world. Maybe she once loved Trump because she was swept away by the lifestyle. Maybe it was all business from the beginning. It doesn't much matter because there is another younger woman that will step up to replace you. So, you think, women beginning their 20s are fantastic. So fresh and taut. I bet somebody in their teens would be sublime. Then, if you're used to the world going your way, you can easily brush aside stupid laws and phony morals. Everybody wants it, only some of us can get it. Look at history. Look at the Ozarks. 15 year old brides. You cross the line. You get to own a beautiful girl for a few days. She's having a great time. I bet she'll like the rough stuff. She's getting paid. I'll just add a little to the fee. Fuck it! I'm a royal prince. No harm. No foul. See, that piece of meat was crazy anyway.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2026: The World's Drunkest Elk
I guess the dynamic Mike Elko has made A&M the "it" school that all the recruits are just dying to go to. I'm sure Tamarion can't wait to show his friends in Rock Hill SC some of the cool moves that drew him to A&M. I can't believe their super not weird traditions! I love it!

Right now we are focused on prosecuting the horrible brown killers and mother rapers and father rapers who have flooded this country due to Joe Biden. We haven't got time for this. It's in the past. But, Secretary- Thank you. We've got work to do. [Exit stage left. In huff.]

If those are not on the resume, you won't get the job in the Trump administration. There's an odd irony in that his mendacity was not hidden. There is no deception. There's no, "if they only knew he was a sexual predator and constant liar..." They did.

There will be lies from the liars about this. Everytime I see a clip from mutually congratulatory officials at a press conference I imagine Gunnery Sergeant Hartman walking in from a side door and looking at the camera and adapting this exortation to the situation. Why not, indeed.

Welcome, friend. What makes this old dude so smart? Mistakes were made. I stream, so I don't watch much live TV "news" shows. I'm guessing that they will all be drawn to the detail of if the NWS was manned or not. Goodbye, big picture. See: where gun was purchased as the top priority in a mass shooting. Through Apollo, NASA was 90% engineers. By the 80s it was 3% engineers. I'm sure now it is a giant bureaucracy filled with grad school grads who don't know how to do anything. My loathing of what the proliferation of grad students is doing to language and our world grows daily. When was the last time you met a PhD and walked away thinking, that guy is really smart. And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight...

A friend sent me the link with the message, "watch all the way to the end." Thirty minutes. I watched the first few and got impatient. I skipped to about the 15 minute mark and assumed the camera was now at a new location. Then I recognized something and thought, "holy shit." I watched it all the way through from the start. Thirty minutes and it rose from stream to flooding over the center of the bridge. Not to be maudlin, but I just kept thinking of those poor sleeping little girls. Hard fucking world.
