  1. It’s a real advantage to be able to extend the arm to create space on a fadeaway jumper.
  2. There are more than 8,000 bills filed already this session. I challenge any Member to show me 5 that are legitimately about “small government.”
  3. But at least Luka got his complaints lodged with the refs, amirite?
  4. Oh, I didn’t know that, because I’ve never watched baseball before. No—it definitely wasn’t that. It was several of the players yesterday as they ran out to celebrate walking off aggy. And you can see it with some of the fans in the stands.
  5. I’m watching this Tennessee-aggy, game, and does Tennessee do the horns for some reason? Or are people now doing horns up to taunt aggy?
  6. Yeah—I can’t remember the whole deal. But yeah, I stopped riding that scooter shortly after that.
  7. You can put it in 8-in headlines: DALLAS WILL NEVER WIN A TITLE WITH LUKA. I would add the caveat that neither will anyone else, probably.
  8. Where the fuck does Kyrie go? Who wants him? He's an amazing talent. But he's also made it abundantly clear that no team is ever going to win shit with him on the roster. Honest to God, I think you'd be better off with me on the roster. At least I would just sit there cheering loudly and enjoying my bench seat. I wouldn't actively detract from what the team was trying to accomplish.
  9. That’s the exact same thing that was just a charge.
  10. This is the best this team has looked all season. And they’re not short on really good performances.
  11. Fuck, what an ugly family. I sweatergawd the dog looks like he probably has the highest IQ of the bunch.
  12. And I'll tell you what else--I think Kelly is the favorite in that match-up.
  13. If things don't change, we're going to be looking at Mayor Fitlump in four years. And no--I'm not kidding. Not even a little bit.
  14. As someone who lived through it, the 1980s were fucking rough. You can tell a lot about the zeitgeist by the dystopian future that is envisioned in their movies. And look at the dystopian-future movies from the 80s (and going back to the 70s)--they're all about crime. Escape from New York, Robocop, fuck--even Back to the Future Part II--they're all envisioning a future of rampant crime. Crime statistics nationally start dropping precipitously right around 1990. There are a number of theories as to why, including access to abortion and the elimination of lead in gasoline. It's an absolutely fascinating question as to why that happened. Yeah--I'm really very liberal. And I'm generally very sympathetic to the homeless. But these aren't the people who are down on their luck and find themselves unhoused for a few months until they get get back on their feet. These are the chronic homeless. And I'm goddamned sick of it and ready for a rather draconian clean-up.
  15. You can get off. You're just going to keep getting billed for the ride.
  16. We didn't help the Israelis. The French helped the Israelis. Or, perhaps more accurately, the Israelis helped the French. The French conspired with Israel to develop nuclear weapons, thinking that Israel's involvement would be able to attract some of the Jewish physicists who had worked on the Manhattan Project. The Dimona facility was built with French designs and expertise, and France and Israel had a full information-sharing deal comparable to our collaboration with the British during the Manhattan Project.
  17. It's not an enforcement thing. The scooters can be programmed to prevent them from being used or stopped in specific places. I was in San Diego last year, and they have specific scooter stops. If you're not at one of the stops, then the scooter/app won't let you end the ride.
  18. This is one of the worst Mavericks teams I've seen, and I remember the 9-win season. There's no effort from anybody. And outside of Luka, no real ability. This thing just need to be blown up. And yeah--I'm including Luka in that. He's not a guy you can build around. People have dreams of him being Dirk. But he's not Dirk.
  19. I was perhaps being hyperbolic. But my point still remains--that was voted on four years ago. And the promise was that all lights were going to be removed. But as usual, they're delayed and delivering less than was promised. So what lights are they now going to remove? Some of the big generators of congestion are at Lost Creek and Westbank, and I can't imagine how they would remove those lights. Humorously enough, in the many years since that proposition was voted on, they actually added streetlights at Courtyard Dr. and on the driveway going into Apple.
  20. Whoa--get a look at Daddy Motherfucking Warbucks over here. I would've killed for Little Caesar's in college. For me, it was all Gumby's or [shudder] Pizza Classics. Ugh--Just thinking about Pizza Classics makes me want to throw up a little.
  21. Those buildings have been full of homeless for years. It was only a matter of time until this happened. I'm sure the owner is thrilled. Now presumably he can demolish those buildings.
  22. The "removing lights on 360" is exactly like Project Connect. A lot was promised, and not a damned bit of it is ever going to happen. We'll spend a trillion dollars on consultants, engineers, and pretty diagrams for public consumption. But I'm convinced that we'll never see a single light removed nor a single mile of track laid.
  23. Yeah--I did a little bit of reading on Shinto and its underlying mythology. Its interplay with Buddhism is really pretty fascinating. And you're right that Shinto's mythology really gives some insight into Japanese culture. It's like the story of Amaterasu (the sun goddess) when she gets pissed about her brother being an asshole and shitting in her house and throwing a flayed horse into her weaving hall. So she goes down into a cave to pout, plunging the world into darkness. If this were Greek mythology, Zeus would go and haul her ass out of the cave. But in Shinto, the other gods hold a committee meeting to decide what to do. And that gives some insight into Japanese culture--everything is done by consensus. And once you figure that out, everything from their history to their business relationships to their politics becomes a lot easier to understand.
  24. It’s like you’ve never been arrested in Highland Park.
