  1. Take it to the WTF thread or equine thread
  2. It was me. Can we keep this between us? I’d hate to lose my teaching job.
  3. She’s got a two decade head start on them, which is more than she needs. Taylor’s got friends in every town and toyota center from here to the Indianapolis, she sings in a dozen genres, knows every local custom, she'll blend in, disappear, you'll never see her again. With any luck, she's got the presidency already.
  4. Buy low, sell high Under few circumstances should an up and coming team dedicate finite resources longterm on aging assets. Agree on Noah Brown. Think Texans are fine at receiver. Dalton Schultz is a JAG. He also struggled at end of year with hands. It’s frustrating to see teams think guys are tight ends when really they’re just big possession receivers. Want to see a real tight end? watch George Kittle work.
  5. That would be something. Have had people lecture on using AI to manage their email. Im skeptical
  6. Father Mayhem makes an appearance. “You go to check out your maybe daughter’s convent school and find six murdered nuns. Maybe that’s None of your business. With Allstate, you’re protected from mayhem…like me.”
  7. Context matters a lot. In baseball, if you need a single run against a power pitcher who doesnt field their position well, maybe a sacrifice bunt is the right play. As the 49ers defense was tightening up their run D and your team was playing tight and sloppy, maybe that 60% go for it wasnt representative of what was happening down the stretch.
  8. The commercial made it seem like something fresh back in the 90’s
  9. Bullshit. In reality, women who “fight back” are more likely to be murdered. Women who arm themselves, are more likely to have their abuser use that gun. The problem we have is not equal between men and women. The hospitalized and deceased are few and far between battered men. Its an epidemic. With exceptions, men cannot engage in fair physical confrontations with women. If you want to see how it plays out when women FAFO, watch the Joe Mixon video again. At no point was Mixon, a large man with years of strength training in danger of being hurt. But he fucked that chick up. Mixon deserved more.
  10. Regardless, this was officially declared a wartime mistake by both the US and Israeli governments at the time. My point was that older generations view Israel much more favorably than younger ones.
  11. That would be something. The ignominy of abandoning Israel after a major terrorist attack, siding with the terror faction Hamas and Iran, and reversing a half century of policy would be massive. One big problem is that Netanyahu has meddled in US politics at the local, state, and federal levels. And has plenty of media support and experience manipulating social media. The US is deeply divided on the issue largely on age. Older Americans side with Israel, remembering their plight and a Cold War ally who never funded terror attacks against Americans. Younger Americans side with Palestinians, and even Hamas, due to current events and dissonance about Israel’s rights there in the first place. It’s a quagmire. I think if Biden took your advice, it would be followed by “…and I will be resigning” as he’d have no hope for re-election and he’d be turning over the White House back to dotard. And middle ground is not helpful either. There are plenty of misguided people who will stay away from voting due to this issue, which has no easy answers and only more and more problems.
  12. “Give me an Army of West Point graduates and I'll win a battle. Give me a handful of Texas Aggies and I'll win a war.” - fake George Patton
  13. Like I said, from our perspective, they were evil bastards. But they took care of their own and I agree they had their own logic. There were other tribes that werent nomads and they were shit out of luck unless they could trade something of value.
  14. That seems like a shit ton. Wonder if they count all unmarried minors as rape (statutory). It’s fucked up regardless.
  15. What struck me about the book was how deep it cut at Old West and Native portrayals in pop culture. You’d both sympathize and be revolted by how Comanches operated as a warrior tribe. They were like apex predators and if couldnt provide them value they saw you as lesser beings. They cared only about taking care of their own people. I’d like to see a fair depiction of their strength and rejection of western culture’s morality. Which might upset people. I do expect the same old wise Indian monologues over peace pipes talking about the white men. What was depicted in the book was these evil bastards (from our perspective) were terrorizing whites and natives alike. They’d get paid to stop raiding, then break treaties, only to have the ignorant US government terrorize other, more peaceful tribes confused it was Comanches. We’ll see. Think Sheridan would be best outsourcing some of this work to others to make it fresh. Did I spell all the words correctly? @slorch
  16. Digging in on your opinion? I’ll have to watch it again. One of things that made KOTFM notable is the depiction of the banality and grotesque nature of evil. Having Leo and DeNiro be the two lead villains would not have been my choice because they seem cool and are legends on and off the screen. But they both did well. I usually appreciate Leo’s performances after time and rewatches. Think they needed to be in it for box office.
  17. Is there any other kind?
  18. Jesus Christ, you spellcheckers. The worst people on the internet.
  19. The court room scene was a farce and demonstrated a miscarriage of justice was occurring. Therefore it was on point and (probably) historically accurate. I dont doubt the Freemason’s spanking scene was also based on real stuff but that was weird too. The whole movie is filled with weird, evil and unbelievable shit that actually happened. Regarding 1920’s lawyering, I read a book about the infamous lawyer turned Gatsbying bootlegger - George Remus - who got away with murder. He did theatrics similar to what Fraser was doing. The book covered this part in great detail. Dude was crying and yelling - I think in his own defense. Jury ate it up back then because they were rubes. Now juries eat up DNA evidence and crying blondes.
  20. The Comanche’s impact on world history is dwarfed by the Mongol Empire, who ended civilizations with their horse calvary.
  21. 1920’s lawyers acted that way and did so effectively.
  22. Then you can excuse yourself from further discussions about Scorsese. Do you fast forward thru Breaking Bad for just the good parts?
  23. Which one of you assholes is rolling around with this on your Miata?
  24. Like I said, plenty of people shared the same type on invalid criticism about Oppenheimer (it should have been). You want an FBI procedural? Make your own movie.
